3DXChat Development Update 1

Gizmo

Hello everyone! We wanted to update you on the latest developments of our game. We have started a blog to keep you informed and hope you enjoy it.

In November 2022, we did a comprehensive survey with NoirDesire to gather feedback on the game's quality. While we are still processing the results, NoirDesire kindly shared some interim feedback. We have gained insight into players' thoughts on crucial aspects, such as game bugs and features they would like added.

Most players, like us, desire a more stable game. We will make this our top priority.

To accomplish this, we are currently porting the game to a newer version of the Unity engine. The new engine will allow us to benefit from the many improvements and refinements that Unity developers have made over the past few years. Since the game is currently using an outdated 2018 version of the engine, we have decided to update this platform first.

While porting the game to the new engine, some systems have broken. We have been able to fix nearly all of them and even enhance some. For instance, the beer-drinking system was broken; we have entirely revamped it and added new types of drinks and food. As you drink, you will notice the liquid level in the bottle decreases, and bits of food vanish from your plate. Additionally, we have added the ability to toss the bottle out of the character's hand.

We have included pictures/videos of the drink and food system for you.

We plan to conduct a beta test of the new client once we have migrated to the new Unity engine.

Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of 3DXChat development!

As a builder, this update is huge and so exciting! As for the bug/fixes that many have mentioned in this thread.... Read Gizmo's post, do not just look at the pictures!

I personally would HATE to see a "who is in the room list". One of the things I loved about 3dx was my privacy here. If I want to be found, all I have to do is open to friends only. I do not want stalkers! I came from another Virtual World that allowed you to ignore but could find you in those room lists. They also could see and hear you. I would hate for that to happen here.

This UPDATE 1 post from Gizmo is just that. That means there are more to come. Before we judge what is or isn't being done. Let's wait and see.

For what it's worth i understand with objection. It is however not quite what i asked for which was ability to see "who is in a room" when you ENTER it.  I'm thinking something that is temporarily displayed and i'm NOT suggesting a global search for any particular person. I get that objection actually and while i don't fear it, it's not what i'm asking for.

In the virtual worlds i've been in, the "IGNORE" function is total.  That person cannot see, hear or find you. You can't find them (unless you have boot rights in a particular club or location as i do working as a bouncer in my "main" world.   If the "IGNORE" function here does not totally block that is a problem with that function IMHO.

Thanks Gizmo for these "future updates", but what I really want to say is: Are we working on a pose editor? A clothes editor?
Fake 3DX games have much more clothes, nose piercings, eyebrow piercings, nose piercings, different clothes than ours.
(They told me, I'm not registered on other 3DXFakes)

That they do, i live in one of them and "vacation" in 3dx.  Until such time as that other place collapses OR 3dx adds more "social" features and frankly people act more social, i'll stay primarily somewhere else. I do like to play with the 3d editor :)

Why would you openly tell the developer that you're playing a Fake3DX game that they even just said a bit ago was illegal. You trying to get your account banned? lol If you're gonna do it, then just do it, stop worrying about what the dev thinks.
If you're looking for the members to act more social, then you probably waiting for rain in the Sahara desert, because the social skills of majority of this community leaves a lot to be desired and doesn't seem to be getting better any time soon.

IDK, Rand. The hidden Wedding Ring cellphone is pretty awesome! Personally, I think this update is amazing. Bars can sometimes be the heaviest elements in a club because we have to make all sorts of items to make it look realistic. These will cost nothing by comparison and they are interactive. I look at updates like this as wonderful because they add depth and creative possibilities. Yeah, bug fixes are needed. But this is still something I'm incredibly excited about. Especially the new not so skinny, SkinnyPenis treats. :P

I agree it is cool....but it would have been WAY down on my list of wishes for in game.

Maybe you should re-re-read the answer given and I'll even bolden it for you. The initial answer did in fact assume there was a survey for food and drinks. Whether they assumed that the update was related to any other survey is irrelevant since the initial thing you yourself answered to, was just stating that there was no survey mentioned. "Show us in the survey where people voted for food and drinks" in case you aren't fluent in English, means that the person assumes there is a section in a survey to show for said feature.

Answering to Rand now:
There doesn't have to be a survey to just add some new things on a whim. The post says that they aren't releasing the Unity upgrade until they fix the bugs they produced by working with it, they just added some new food and drinks because they had to overhaul the beer drinking feature to make it work anyway, so they just added new stuff as a little goody, maybe even as tests.
Adding new stuff doesn't have to mean the people asked for it. Appreciating some new stuff doesn't mean it has to have been demanded.

Patience. They already said they're working on the bugs, this is just a dev- blog letting us know their progress.

The problem with not following the survey and adding things on a whim is that the community will see it as their requests being ignored. I know of some items people have been asking for for years...especially clothing.

It would still be nice to have ALL of the clothing with the new textures. It is like they started it....then stopped and moved on to something else. That kind of development does get frustrating to us players.

Now, I do think the new feature is kind of cool...will make bar design a TON easier and that I do like. But...it seemed like y'all were working on one thing then saw a "Squirrel" (UP reference).

Well I mean let's be on a really realistic note here. How many people are working on 3DXChat? Because their staff directory says there's only 4 members in the whole team. If it's just Gizmo and one or two other people working on the game, why is everyone drilling them for updates. Working on a game is hard, it's not just slapping crap together and hoping it works. They literally just announced updating the Unity engine to a more modern version. That's called progress.

In the end, this is GIZMO'S game. Not yours, not Rand's, not Ferdinand Jone's, and not Joe Biden's. Gizmo gets the final say of what he wants to put in.
He's choosing what he wants to put in first based on what he can do now. It's a small team and patience can be a helpful thing. So what if he adds something on a whim that he wanted to add just because he saw an opportunity. Who Tf cares? Let him make his game the way he can and the way he wants. He's giving us progress updates along the way, that's enough for me, and should be enough for everyone else.

Well, the developer takes my money regardless of what other games i play, which i don't name and FWIW are not "fake" in any way shape or form. It  IS disappointing that you don't actually respond to the comment i made to clarify what it seemed concerned  you.  I do see that you are...prolific in making responses that are questionably productive.  I'm very familiar with that kind of behavior and to be honest i have no need of it from you. I don't suppose that many do.

So, lets see how that "IGNORE" list works then :)

PS  (added on comments).

  1. I think overall Gizmos blog is a positive thing. I don't expect it to be everything for everyone but having clear communications from devs etc IS a good thing.
  2. I would distinguish between "adding features" and "fixing bugs". The blog here is about features new and proposals from users. Fixes seem like a separate, but still worthy, topic.
  3. I'm not looking to get banned. Like many i came here from somewhere and like them i like what i see. Overall i would be MORE pleased to see the minor "Quality of Life" things i suggested based on other experiences.  I'm not promoting anything other than a better 3dx-Chat. Regardless the TOS does say:
The Website may be linked to or from other websites that are not under the control of and are not maintained by SexGameDevil. SexGameDevil is not responsible for the content of those sites. The inclusion of any link to such sites does not imply endorsement by SexGameDevil of those sites.
I think i am within TOS limitations, if not and i get kicked...well, my life will go on and i won't be of a mind to tell my "otherworldly" friends what a great time i am having here. I'll save some money too.
  4. OH, that "IGNORE" thing?  It's working pretty good so far!

Sure? Okay. Whatever wets your slit queenie.

Just to clarify, my concern is not being stalked. So any "Who's in a Room" list whether it be after entering a room or before, is bad. Even adding it in rooms allows a player to go in a room, quickly check a list, then duck out if they don't see someone they want. So no you don't address any concerns, you exaggerate them further. We don't need that kind of update, it makes stalking easier.

I'm very familiar with THAT kind of behavior and to be honest I have no need of more of it, from you or anyone else. No one does. Ignore me though, you act like I care lol.

Hello I would like to report my problem on 3DX, unfortunately I cannot zoom when I am in build mode, because I do not use a mouse with a wheel, but rather a joystick accompanied by two switches, before I could easily zoom with your DLLs

You only listen to a handful of players and ignore what everyone else wants.  This is wrong of you to do.  Neither NoirDesire, nor anyone else in your inner circle of buddies, speaks for all of us.  You always give them what they want but make it obvious you don't care what the remaining 99% of us want.  And don't reply back with nonsense about polling players to find out what we want.  The polls are only there to deceive the general player base into believing you really care what we want.

I don't think you should speak for the 99% of players and use "we" instead of "I".
The survey was independent and open to all. We received a large number of different opinions and would like to highlight the most desired ones.

I would also like to ask all participants to maintain a respectful tone in their comments.

And just because some things are not mentioned yet it doesn't mean they will not have an eye on them. I am sure in another dev blog they will continue what they work on when the time comes.

I'm pleased to hear that you share our understanding. We hope that the 3DX community will also recognize and appreciate our efforts.

As a team of independent developers, we are self-funded and not affiliated with any publishers or corporations. We take great pride in our work and continuously strive to improve the project. While we excel in some areas, we acknowledge that there is always room for improvement. We value and carefully consider feedback from our players, though we may not be able to satisfy every request. After all, we are only human.

It's important to note that 3DXChat is an adult-oriented game. However, it's disheartening to see that some individuals continue to behave in an immature manner. Let's all work together to create a welcoming and respectful community.

Oh of course I understand very well what developing a game has in it, especially one that's looking to strive for actual quality content. It's not something easily done. I tried to get into Unity and Javascript, and I just couldn't fathom it.

It's also a balancing act especially for smaller teams. On one hand if you work only work on bug-fixes, new content isn't being made and it becomes a stressful stale existence of trying fix code that just doesn't want to cooperate, as well as members who complain there's no new updates. On the other hand if you add any content you want to add as your vision of the game, members complain that you don't fix bugs that have been a problem for years. If it was easy to fix it would've been fixed. I'm looking forward to the fixes, but I'm just happy the game looks good and is playable.

local light cast shadows just like in Saloon would finally improve the flat look of the game. Will it happen in the updated engine? It upgrades visuals far more than it's obvious at first

I have been on 3dx chat for over 8 yrs and can remember when we had nothing but very bare bones so saying thank right from the start.  However was always curious as to why you took out the blurring effect that happened as you drank more alcohol to simulate drinking to much and why you never took it any further like lack of judgment effect you know like a percentage chance you could get taken advantage of though i would say from the start always leave a the option for it in the settings or somewhere in the game for RP purposes or those that take this playland way to serious and dont what that option again making the non-con rp total voluntary as it should be but still should be an option each individual should control.  Other than that i really dont have any complaints in way of building since i have never had the patience to sit down and learn the editor its way to complicated for an old geezer at least this one, but do give kudos to those that have that talent.  Thats all i got to say for the time being.

I have been at 3dx for around 8 months now.  Since I have been here, there has been lots added.  The textures on clothing and all the new poses.  Lets not forget all the new items in build as well. (more hollowed out shapes would be nice).  All these things take time and money.  There are less people than you think at this site, most have the maximum avitars playing.  I agree with hats and panties you can texture.  Thanks to the developers but please help the poor guys, those Vnecks and over use of the wrinkled look have to go!!  LOL

Have a couple of questions.

1. Any plans to port some older poses over to other couple combinations that has not been done so already?

2. Any plans to add more activities we can do or use for Roleplaying purposes.

3. Any plans to add more cosplay type clothing can be used for various roleplay themes?

4. If you're considering adding more stuff like food and drinks to buy with Xgold, will you add more ways that daily log in to earn them for being actively online.(one idea could be room host being able to pay Xgold coming in from food or drinks out to staff maybe))

5. Will we get more elements like 2. above or maybe life sim like elements like thirst or hunger, think personally need to be more stuff beside sex. Think big problem 3dxchat is going to have eventually is older users or relatively seasoned users, is the over saturation of sex here, with fuck rooms and cold rooms or just in general. Its going to maintain interest difficult over time. I know that is probably individual base problem for most parts, but think it may also be worth considering from developer standpoint that dopamin levels release from having saturated amounts of sex here, is likely much higher than it would be from playing games. May be worth considering to reduce burn out, to have something else that engages you beside sex here, in terms of longevity of user base. Anyways just final thoughts to my last question.

Thank you, Gizmo for keeping us updated that you are in fact making changes. Regardless of anything else being said, more communication is always a net positive.

Also, it looks like this forum is becoming a place for development suggestions. If there is a better place for us to make our requests, I'll use that, but since we are all here, the few things I would mention would be the following:

1) It would be nice for both male and female avi's to be able to select when a penis is either present, flaccid or erect. There are ultimately bigger discussions about how much support there should be for Futa or Transperson options for poses...I won't get into that here, but I think there are a lot of women here who might want to have FF poses that don't involve cock by default (some mentioned above), and men that don't want to end up in a situation where their female partner suddenly has a cock. No judgement against those that do, just a toggle for those who don't. And I would like not to become a sundial on the beach every time I take my swim trunks off and lay in the sand.

2) Speaking of poses in general, I'm using a high-resolution display, but also have crappy old man eyesight, and would love to see clearer icons for the poses so I can see in advance which ones are giving my female partner(s) a cock. That also goes for in game text in general, being able to display names as larger or smaller would be nice.

3) Consistent pose positioning would be nice too...have all poses facing 0 or North on your X axis so that you aren't flipping all over the place as you change positions.

4) Being able to adjust room lighting/time of day for all users "on-the-fly" without having to enter the editor to adjust and save would be cool too. Doing sunset viewing parties on the beach would be possible then.

5) An organized friend's list would be outstanding, and if it's not any kind of privacy violation, knowing the date or time of last logon, or active account status, could be really useful for clearing out those inactive members who haven't been around for ages.

This is just a portion of the kind of stuff I'd like to see, but I'm sure there will be more.

Thanks so much!

-Laz

I will not comment on the pose editor at this time. The time has not yet come.

I understand what you mean by "there was a new clothing system, with for instance adjustable length of pants". Our research on this system has been put on hold due to higher priorities. We may revisit the idea later. But there is no development in that direction at the moment.

Thank you for your questions. I am happy to answer them.

  1. The migration to the new version of the Unity engine is almost complete. As I said, some systems were broken due to incompatibilities, and we had to fix everything. The beer-drinking system was utterly broken, and we could either remove it from the game entirely or rebuild it from scratch. We chose the latter and rebuilt the system from scratch, improving and expanding it considerably. It is much closer to our original idea of a food and drink system in the game.
  2. The top 3 features that players are asking for are "Additional Sex Poses", "Avatar setting improvements", "Additional Clothes". We plan to add all of these as we develop.
  3. We will happily share the survey results with the community as soon as all the results have been finalized. NoirDesire, as the organizer of this independent survey, is kindly helping us to process the results. We appreciate and thank her for her help. So let's be patient and respect her work and time. As soon as the results are ready, we will publish them.
Our initiative was to set up a food and drink consumption system. As the authors and owners of the 3DXChat project, we wanted to add such mechanics to the game. We hope this new mechanic will be to the liking of most players. I would like to mention the players' idea to have the deducted funds from buying food and drinks go to the host room account. It's an exciting idea, and we'll probably revisit it.
  4. The top 3 bugs are "Sync Bug", "Naked/Bald Avatar", "Disconnections"
Also, about 90% of the bugs are related to the networking part of the codebase. We have a lot of work to do on refactoring and improving the network part. This will allow us to get rid of 90% of the bugs.
  5. We are planning to switch all clothes to the new material system. It will take some time to do this.
Why did we decide to move to a new version of the Unity engine first? First of all, the current 2018 version of the engine is already outdated. Secondly, we want to develop the game using all the new engine's features. Finally, Unity has fixed many bugs and optimized the engine. Players will be able to use a more stable client while we work on the network bugs.
The transition to the new Unity is a necessary step and an essential preparation for the next significant bug-fixing effort.

Dear @Gizmo, I appreciate to get this answer. It does not exactly hit all of my points, but at least some, thank you. I will forward your answer also to my Discord server internal blog.

Regards
Moon, CEO of Virtual Secrets

I would just like everyone to know something about NoirDesire's survey. We, including Felinia and another person were getting quite frustrated with the bug report in the 3dx server. Noir desire has been doing these surveys for some time now but invited the 3 of us to help get this last survey out. That being said, this one was a bit different. instead of a just a few people between 50 to 200, we spread this survey around to other servers and clubs and friend lists and we reached over 1000 people to vote on the 3 most important problems that need to be worked on as well as the top 3 suggestions just to narrow it down for Gizmo and his staff.  I'm sorry if you didn't take part in the survey but over one thousand 3dxers did. I do think that makes a huge majority over a few individuals complaining about it.

The bug report turned into another World Chat full of drama.  Now I'm seeing the same thing happening here already and I think the bickering should stop. Someone states their opinion it will be taken into consideration whether you bicker with them or not. It's just a waste of your time and Gizmo's to keep reading all this drama. Please lets not make this another Drama Pit???

Gizmo - nobody eats these types of things while exercising!  And let's be honest - still no cell phone in our hands during the phone call pose?   And show us in the survey where people voted for food and drinks - over fixing the bugs and other enhancements.  (That's truly what is puzzling me.)

I was always under the impression that 3DXChat attempted to stay up to speed with what was going on especially tech wise.  I'm glad you are FINALLY updating the Unity server to one that is not old and undependable.

Don't be so sure. I used to eat potato chips and smoke cigarettes when I used to work out from home 😂

Thanks for moving the game to an updated Unity engine gizmo. I was whining about that the other day in World Chat, not that the game looks bad now, I was just very eager to see what it would look like when it was brought up to date. Can't wait to check it out on the test server. Thanks again!

2))  Fix the Ignore feature.  It has been broken since it was first added to the game.  The visible list on our profiles only shows a set number of names.  Once you exceed that number, the Ignore feature breaks and only some on the list are still ignored, while many on the list are un-ignored (even tho their name is still seen on the list).  They can see you and you can see them.  They can message you and you can message them.  They can invite you and you can invite them.  They can see and enter your room, you can see and enter their room.  You have known for years that it is broken because the fact has been reported to you countless times over the years.

I have a good feeling who is writing this post^, Dude how many people do you have on ignore? The entire game?? Once upon a time, when I was as unpleasant as you sound I had over 500+ people on ignore and it never "broke" (now I have like 25, so you are really special to be on that list 😂) Maybe it's your attitude that needs changing more than the game?
