THX, I don't really believe that Gizmo will be able to hire a good moderators team without money. Yeah, there exist some amount of people who are really ready to work for "free" just to make this game and forum a better places, but I am pretty sure most of them not really ready to do it "free", they just can enjoy power over others instead of money. Do I want WC and forum to be a better place without verbal abuse, personal attacks and spam? Yes, would be nice. Is it worth to have some power-hungry mods who can use their power against someone who they dislike or give some free pass to someone who they like? I doubt it. The other way - pay-based hired mods. But I doubt Gizmo going to pay for a moderators team. 

I think a dislike button would be a really bad idea in forum.
 
There was one once in a previous game I played, not forum, the game itself where members could dislike in public rooms.
The trolls and alts had a field day.
 
One poor guy had well in excess of 400 dislikes on his avi when the average was about 50 to 100
Some members received dislikes in bulk -  30 or so in as many minutes.
 
Personally, I took little notice of these things but some members took the dislikes seriously and as a consequence began to boycott public rooms. It spoiled their play and the effect of the game.  Some even left the game through it.
 
Eventually common sense prevailed and the dislikes were removed and only likes remained.
 
Forum would only lose the very members, it wants tto attract.
 
Forum is nice the way it is,  without the disruptive members of course. Lets not give them extra tools to try and rile people or make "Dislikes"  as some sort of "Badge of Honour"

@OP It is not really for me, you, us or anyone to judge the actions, desires, motives, or interests of anyone else, unless they stray into illegal or unethical.
 
Each to their own, it's a free world. Sure, you are entitled to your opinions but your post reads to me like you are straying into being judgemental of others who wish to play 3dx differently from you.
 
In any case, the World Editor is hardly of no value. Every day I see new, imaginative, creative, beautiful and/or amazing builds. But 3dx works on a free market basis and people go wherever they most desire or enjoy. Also there is clearly a tendency for many to head for the busiest rooms at any one time, as is their entitlement. That doesn't necessarily render the effort and creativity of other rooms wasted - on another day or night it could be those other rooms that are filled to overflowing. One other thing I think is worth saying is that the number of people in a room isn't necessarily the best measure of the quality of the build of that room. If just one or two people visit a room and enjoy it immensely, then I think it's reasonable to say that room owner did a great job and their efforts were appreciated.

I'm sorry I pay the sub so I don't have to worry about paying for anything more. I do not want this place turning into a huge money grab. They keep this up soon poses will cost xgold.

I think Cordelia is very right there. Making world chat payable will only shift the problem to another chat (probably local). If Gizmo wants to earn some more money, a better idea is indeed to revive popups against a small fee for those who want to make publicity for their rooms.
And this question points to another real problem too: the number of lines that are kept in chat boxes (for scrolling back) is much too limited. An option to save these dialogs would be handy too I think.

What’s interesting though, is who decides what is “constructive” or “acceptable” content for people to talk about. Everyone bangs on about their entitlement to post what they want within the rules, and in some cases irrespective of the rules so trying to influence what anyone posts is the same as trolling?
 
Personally I think this topic was tongue in cheek and a relatively harmless commentary on what is going on. Lots of people have also offered constructive opinion here.
 
It’s obvious we can’t have proper discourse here so the only things left on the forum that remain mostly untrolled are the threads of picture spam and music. Those appear to be sacrosanct.

A way to donate would be to buy and gift additional accounts to people that can't afford them. This way not only more money would be given to Gizmo / Sexgamedevil, but also more active players would roam the world.

Although I agree basically with what you say Xizi, good moderation requires explanation.
In other words, it is not just good enough to warn, delete, block, ban, etc. without an explanation (which will always cause animosity from some quarters), even if it is just to refer to the ToS.

If moderators were obliged to do that, it would resolve a lot of the problems that arise with "volunteer" moderation.

The question is - where you will get enough amount of decent moderators who will clean all the nasty mess both on forum and in game and will not abuse their power? 

What was wrong with using twitter? It seemed like a good fit for the kind of updates, and news they tend to release. Honestly if they they are going to stop using the forum maybe a blog, or even just keeping the updates section on the main site up to date, and more informative would be a good solution. I am sure this forum is hard to moderate, and mostly a waste of their effort with having to approve post, and deal with spammers, trolls, and what not; however, people shouldn't need to use an app just to get news updates.

Maybe if WC is used to do promos .. you should, for a rare time, listen to your client base and make a "promo channel" ?
 
 
The idea is more .. "Let's make people spend their XGold then maybe they'll buy more in the future and will ultimately generate us more revenue.. maybe." .. and tell me how you plan on allowing the room owners(remember the ones that attract people on your servers in the 1st place, that keep them there) to manage the "flame, promo" in THEIR room from other members if you implement this idea ?
 
Who, in your entourage, comes up and actually suggests those ideas to you? Regardless, take a shovel, wind up and take a good whack at them because it's surely not us, I have never seen ANYONE post this on the forums. Link me up if that has been suggested somewhere though.
 
Keep working on stuff your client base does NOT ask for. Rest assured that in time, you won't need to add anything to this game.
 
As for your "useless / helpful messages" comment .. I know you tried moderators before and it didn't work out but, leaving the chat unattended .. what DID YOU THINK WOULD HAPPEN?
 
Maybe it's time you look back into that.

I'd like to say that's its ridiculous to create a forum for your game then force players to join other sites or download other apps to get update news.
