Regarding Development

Hello everyone, I hope all is going well for you.  I am a long time forum lurker and a player for a few months. This is quite obviously my first post I must warn you my post will be lengthy, but I feel it is necessary to get some things off my chest.  Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I have been in the game industry for nearly ten years, working for two developers as well as working as a free lancer.  Currently, I have started my own studio and recently was accepted into the Xbox One Developer's Program.  My expertise is in the art department: modeling, texturing, rigging and animating.  In my humble opinion, I am quite good at those four things.  Because of the nature of this forum and the game it represents I will NOT disclose which companies/games I worked for/on nor will I disclose the name of my current company.  I DO know what I am talking about people and I am not posting to cause problems or start fights.  Instead I am posting this in the hopes that it will inspire the devs to step up their game.

As developers you are charging players for access to a beta game.  This is both good and bad.  As a dev, when I think of early access, I think of two automatic requirements of my company: DAILY interaction with my player base (Facebook, Twitter, Twitch and the forums) and WEEKLY UPDATES and I mean every week.  Your players are paying $20 a month for an incomplete game.  You must be adding to and improving your product for your players.  Personally I have paid more than the typical cost for a game in order to play your game and many other people have paid you far more.  You guys CAN do better.  You have a great product, however what you have will not last unless you do something bigger.  I don't know how many people you have on your team, I know in many cases there are things that will take longer if you have a small team.  Hire more people if you must.  Use players who have a knack for 3d modeling like you have been.  But don't reimburse them with your wacky in game credit.  Give them a few months of gameplay for free.

On the topic of user generated content....its great, but why are some of the only good updates to be released created by your users and not you?  It's great that players have talent for creation but they shouldn't be doing your job for you.  I guess what I am trying to say is that the issue is no longer just about game development but also how to properly handle the administrative side of the business.  As I said before if you need more employees, hire them.  If you don't have enough money, employ more players but reward them better than with in game currency.  To the owners of the company, if you can't afford to properly progress this game perhaps you are paying yourselves to much money?  I know that if my games progress is not where it needs to be and I need to take a pay cut to hire someone that can help, I would do it in a heartbeat.

It is easy to sit back and take it easy when you have money coming in...maybe get a little lazy.  I'm sure a lot of people here think that you guys aren't even working on anything new.  Why would they think that?  Well, you don't release updates on  a regular basis and you don't tell people what you are working on.  Post on Facebook, Twitter and here on the forums.  Communicate with your player base and don't wait until the last minute to tell them, "Hey we haven't said anything in two weeks but we are about to release an update"  Your players are your livelihood, don't take them for granted.

In closing, I am sorry for the rant but you guys need a sort of reality check.  If you don't improve your game will die.  For as long as you have been working on this game you should have at least 10,000 active players, more locations, animations and sexual preferences (shemales and threesomes).  You have a great basis for this adult social game, keep it going.  If you don't, someone will see what you have done so far, take it and make it better.  Someone will do it anyway but at least if you keep your loyal players, you will remain the standard for an adult social game.

you have to think more in the whole community not only in hetero one lots of gays for example join the game and left cause of lack of poses or create a female avi to have more fun if you check that part lots of them will stay in game and can be the same of the rest of the community I speak for gay because I'm but i'm sure that the lesbian community will appreciate the same

equality for all can be a must for the game

OMG! That's what I've been saying for months! Thank you D for articulating this so well. The developers have a decent product, its a shame that they also have a shit business plan.

While I agree... I must question if they even read Open Forums at all.

It is really shame to see product this great, going downhill with so few updates and ZERO communication.

I complain a lot about it. All my friends here know that. It is sad to see so many people leave this game because they cant justify 20 euro for more than 1 month since it's look like devs abandoned ship and only put update once every 20 days with something terribly small like this upcoming mask.

Now don't get me wrong I really like that mask. But I must ask. How long does it take to do one mask like that? 20 days? I do believe it can't take more than 5 hours.

Then there's matter with communication ... There's none at all. Upcoming content is posted barely few days sometimes just few hours before implementing it in game. We have zero idea what they work on. Things marked in progress are marked for more than year. And PM / support communication take week or more as well.

People who are here longer than few months are here for community. While it is nice thing to do. It doesn't take much if something else comes along, for plenty of "groups" here to move elsewhere as well.

Sooner or later our development will see to what their attitude for their game and eventually costumers lead.

They are going to loose their steady costumers by time and only will have those who are willing to spend money for a month. But this seems to be enough to keep the company working but not even growing.

Why changing, what we already have? It would mean investing money into this and it will reduce our own profit.

Greed has been death of many companies. I've heard you need about 5 years to make a company grow so you can think about a good profit for you. This game was published just 1 and a half year ago. So how do you think you already can get the profit you're thinking about without reinvesting some money?!

It's a shame that you're not even using the potential of this game. It's one of the best on the market with the high end graphic where people are willing to spend money for, but the community or number of members didn't grow much during the last year.

Those 1000 members celebration on the forum doesn't even show how many players are in the game actually. I would think we're still less than 200 members.

As D1SC0STU said we could be much more already. If several thousands or hundreds doesn't matter. But not just such a small community.

Dear developers, dear Gizmo and Lisa,

if you want to keep this game alive, please spend more time on working on it. Please listen to what your costumers are telling on this forum, because it's the only way to communicate with you, even it's not a communication. One sided it never is.

We all are still willing to pay for the game, but our patience also will have an end and when it got used up you will loose many of your loyal costumers, which are the foundation of your still young company.

You can see, that we're caring for you but also about ourselves and in the end, if you kick your costumer too often you will loose him most likely.

If you care then listen to us. If not, just be that fair and tell us that there won't be any work spend on this any longer so people can decide to leave without wasting their money into a project without future. Other games might be glad about this money because they appreciate their costumers.

Once again I want to thank everyone for responding.  I am aware of those individuals who have already been talking about this subject far before me.  It is because of you early outspoken that I posted this.  I just want players and the devs to hear it from a development stand point.  I have thought that they may not see this post in the "open forum", but maybe if we keep talking about it in an intelligent and respectful way they will stumble across it.  Remember people we don't want to attack the devs, we love them and this game.  However, we cannot keep paying money for a chat room. I love the social aspects of the game, chat is a core part of the game.  That being said, chat rooms have not been popular since  AOL was the #1 ISP.  Focus should be on content.  I am more than tempted to create content for 3DX Chat....for free.  But it wouldn't do any good because they would take a month after I send it to them just to put it into the game.

The animation system needs a complete overhaul to allow for dynamic switching between vaginal/anal for every pose. This is not as hard as it sounds, although it will require additional animating for each pose.  Shemales, should already be close to completion.  The modeling should have been fairly simple.  Threesomes, should have been completed months ago.  The people voted, you know they want it.  Decorations and more interactivity should also be a top priority.  If I was allowed to create content and actually get it into the game quickly.  Within a couple of months 3DX chat would have 1 or 2 new apartment/house types, functional bathrooms with sex animations associated with it, more plants, paintings, rugs/carpets, more wall and floor materials and many other misc decorative elements.  Everything I listed in the previous sentence, is made up of simple objects that could each be made in a day or two, sometimes even less time.  For example, I could have 10 or more paintings done in a day.  Now I know many of these new elements require programming and animations, that is not lost to me.  Everything needs to be tested as well, but this is a beta and that is typically what the players are for.

I've been trying to get this through the forums, but I was merely attacked for it. Maybe I lack your finesse with words, D1SC0STU. :)

Regardless, agreed 100%. More communication, more investment, and more passion makes for happy, loyal customers.

I want to see this game soar as the #1 adult game in a market where all the competition are a bunch of games, run by sleazy companies charging for every little thing, with horrible graphics, and terrible communities. This one stands out. This one has the potential to stomp over all of them.

Let's make that happen, devs.

Hey D1SC0STU, thank you for your message. Thank you for helping us to see how the game looks for players. We will take note of your wishes.

We love and appreciate our players, and therefore created the ultimate, award winning 3d sex game.

As you know 3DXChat has won The Best Adult MMORPG and The Most Innovative Sex Game awards from independent magazines.

And we are constantly improving the game, working on it every day. Rest assured, we are interested in the prosperity of the game as well as you.

D1SC0STU, could you please contact us with screenshots of your works via support@sexgamedevil.com ?

If a quality of your works is high enough, and we can agree on a salary, we will be happy to cooperate with you to work together on 3DXChat.

I must agree with D1 on each and every word.

I love this game, I have been playing it for a few months (well call that years now) and never even thought of going back to other same themed games where I still had accounts. Partly because of the graphics on which no other game of that kind can compete with up to now, but mostly because of the community.

Yet I do feel quite puzzled with the development schedule. You set a suggestion board on to be used (and even deleted a thread about dev issues I made in here) but you don't seem to even look at it lest take it into account. Shemales and 3sums have been asked for as long as I have been playing the game, given the status of "under development" and yet all we got for now are some clothes and a few poses. With no communication whatsoever regarding those hot issues.

Oh yes, you also introduced some kind of ingame currency. For now it is harmless but I do fear for the future as I already see people asking for gifts in exchange of sexual favors...

You are ahead of competition for now, question is how much do you want to keep it that way ? As I see it for now things are slowing down as you feel quite happy with your current success. As it has been said before, being ahead of competition doesn't spare you the efforts of developing further, on the contrary it should put pressure on you to outperform yourselves and keep the lead.

You do have a great product, sell it ! But to do so you have to communicate and improve it. You have talented people around that are eager to help. Take them into account. And keep everyone updated on how things goes. That the bare minimum.

I don't understand why adding user created content has to be slow. Faster would seem in everyone's best interest. Isn't there a way around it?

I don't understand it either...but I know for a fact they could release user content earlier then the are.

While I appreciate the offer, I was trying to help you see the outcry in your game community regarding the lack of communication and new content.  I wouldn't mind helping, as I said earlier, but I also have my own project to work on with my own deadlines.  If you are telling me you need my help, then we can talk.  But if you think the whole purpose of my post was to ask to help with development, you are mistaken.  Please start communicating with the community more, disclose more information, let us know what you are working on from start to finish.  If you are doing everything you can, then you need more employees because your "best" isnt good enough.  Please remember I am not trying to attack you but you can not hide behind your "awards".  Firstly, I wouldn't call your game the "ultimate 3d sex game" and secondly the awards you were given were not given to you by websites that have any kind of real influence in the adult entertainment business.  Please, wake up.

I think there is around 200 active subscriptions. That means 4000 USD / month, minus server and payment costs, there is not so much left for paying any more developer. I think there is only 2 people making this game mainly, and playerbase won't be much higher than now, because people are constantly leaving and coming, so I do not expect more frequent updates in the future.

Finally I found the tread I was looking for. It's an older one when a member asked how staff/organisation of this game is looking like and this was answered.

http://3dxchat.com/forum/index.php?/topic/231-the-staff/

In my own opinion not much has changed only, that there are some players got added to develop their own stuff.

During my search for the linked post I found another one about the lack of communication between development and players. It's several months old and as we all can see, nothing improved, what really is a shame.

I agree that the potential of this game shouldn't get wasted and selling would be an option to use it in here. I also agree with the awards, because if you get them you should try to hold them and get them the next year again. NOT resting on the laurels you've earned.

Let this game grow to earn more money, because I also think this might be a reason why the development nearly stopped. Like there's not enough money to pay staff for their work.

We only can suppose, but it's sort of suspicious that something is wrong.
