Was wondering if anyone from the development staff read about this bill being passed in UK. Plus how it might affect them and their website and commercials they do online?

Came across it when i was reading lewdgamer reviews. Seems it even allow them to bill commercials that aren't censored outside UK which UK viewers can watch from my understanding, but doesn't this mean that the site in which you pay your sub is to explicitly accessibly too for UK users?

Hey Kimmy,

I had briefly heard about this bill not long after it was passed, in a way it's good with the verification, but I am not entirely sure how SGD will handle this! Although it isn't surprising really, since David Cameron was in Office as PM the government had been trying to ban or atleast make porn accessibility a lot more difficult.

Although that quarter of a million pound fine looks pretty scary really.

I don't think 3DXChat will have to do too much interms of the whole "Content that may be too extreme" as 3DXChat doesn't have really extreme content in the game, it's very vanilla with it's animations and such, not really got any animations that could warrant some serious extreme porn I guess.

I do think though, the only thing they would have to do is to make it a bit more sincere to sign up to the forum, as the game requires a credit card anyway to get into it, but forum is a free signup so the Forum would probably be the only thing they would need to sort this stuff out with but not entirely sure exactly how it would be done as I've not delved too deep in Invision Power board IPS software.

But it's good you brought this bill up actually, hopefully the Devs read it and figure out a solution to avoid possibility of all UK citizens not gaining access to the game and/or the Devs losing all income from UK sources.

Other games have managed to connect their forums to the game database so only people with active subscription could post. So yeah its doable someone just really need to configure this forums out of its "Default" state and while at it, activate some more nifty features that IPB has. Currenlty its running on 10% of its possibilities.

Yes I think this came about following the murder of Joanna Yeates. The killer viewed a lot of extreme "read porn that basically involved torture" and the government decided to ban this - not sure if this the responsibility of your ISP to block access? Thankfully, 3dx is a long way away from this - though best not let the Home Office see World Chat or they may change their mind!

Ash I'm not sure the Conservatives sought to ban porn - I think they just sought to deny access to violent porn. You may recall they never banned "video nasties" in the early 90s.

Guess that is a possibility too but then you would have to have a really strong security on forum accounts too then, but think what worries me most if the 3dxchat site itself since it features explicit pictures and sex, even if its not obscene. Not sure if the bill apply to those too?

I don't think normal porn sites or games have to worry at all. Age verification is understandable and really not complicated to do. I think according to this bill websites like Naughty Machinima might have more problems eventually. The content of that website way beyond "extreme". 3dxchat even with members' wildest RP ideas at best "vanilla" compered to that. There is also a note in the article which I agree with stating that games will be a lower priority than actual real video content sites. The last thing to add is, bureaucracy is just so very slow everywhere. Passing a bill means not much for at least a year or maybe two. They have to push the papers back and forth a zillion times before they assemble a man power that actually would do the job.

That was my penny.
