  1. Yeah, as Yaelle said, you can make it a bit better by using much darker colours for all your objects in the room to give it a more shaded look deeper inside the house, also make sure all 6 sides of that room you want shaded are a darker colour/texture, even if only one of those sides are using a lighter texture, it will throw off the rest.

  2. Time for another map.  :)

This one is a basic log cabin in the woods, you start off down the bottom of a small hill and make your way up through a path in the bushes till you reach the cabin at the top. It's a cosy little place and I hope people enjoy it. I put double poses on the couch and bed so 2 can use them. There's an custom pose set up near the stove, It was for a specific purpose, meant for 3 people, The pose was M/F or FF from behind against the wall and F on her knees with her head buried in the F crotch. It doesn't look that good because of the lean over, buts its passable. It does cause some issues with the use icon popping up when navigating around that area in the cabin because they are invisible spots, so if it annoys you, just go into the editor and remove them.

Its fully enclosed inside a massive black box so as to control the moonlight, I added a few stars to the top of the box that can be seen from the porch. It's not a big map, its mainly set up for a couple, maybe 3 or 4 tops.

EDIT :  I made this map prior to the big lighting changes to the world editor, and someone told me that it didn't fair well with the changes and they were correct.

Anyway, I've gone back and done another pass over this, firstly removing the box enclosing the entire area as that was done to control the light prior to the update, and with that removed, I needed to add in a bit extra land and other items around the surrounding area for the distance transitioning. I changed all the lighting to give it a better look and added a small fireplace and some seating near the spawn zone as well.

Ive left the old map there just in case someone liked it that was and just added a 2 to the new one.

  3. I don't want to be negative nor do I think I really am. I'm just stating facts. The community is never listened to. Out of all the various posts about suggestions and ideas to the devs, how many have actually been implemented into the game?

And it's not because they're all shit Some are but there are some really good ones that I personally would love to be added. But barely any if at all have been added. I don't even remember the last time the devs took advice from the community, despite there being a vast majority wanting it.

The editor is cool. I give them that. But this is a sex game at the end of the day, and there hasn't been new sex poses for ages. And updates are like, every 3 months if we're lucky. But this is best to be saved for another topic.

I understand what you're saying Valexia, but they are not mutually exclusive unless your only interest is in the poses. I love making scenes for my friends and I to use those poses in, for us, it has allowed a lot more intimacy through using these locales which are now possible to make with the world builder.

I do agree with you in that I would rather them spend the time adding in features everyone will benefit from, but I didn't think it a big request, though I don't really have any idea of the actual work involved, it may be something very easy(a couple of hours) to add to their next update, and I thought it important enough to make them aware of something that might possibly be easy to fix, but make a huge difference for people building these beautiful locales.

  4. Hi there, while I wouldn't be alone in liking lots of extra features for the World Editor, one thing that continually frustrates me is the lights.

In just about every build using the night theme, I have to build the structure around the lights, there's been so many designs I've scrapped well into the build because of not being able to use lighting I would like, this is magnified 10 fold if you have multiple stories.

What I would dearly love is all 6 of the current lights with an option of them invisible, like the smoke, flame and lightning assets. If not invisible, some tiny prop versions of them, like the size of a real light globe? or even just 3 would be nice, the soft white, the spotlight and the fluro/led.

This would open up the options for builds so much. Using high ceilings and want the lights lower but don't want to use the chandelier, just make a nice lamp shade and hang it down from the ceiling, sure you can do that now, but the light being so far away from the floor makes it useless, or if you want to run some neat downlights throughout the home on the ground floor, no problems. Or if you would like decorative wall lights on a house/building(internal or external) its virtually impossible unless you have 2 foot thick walls. There are literally hundreds of other uses this would open up for all kinds of props, lights on vehicles, fish tanks, decorations, it goes on and on.

Please oh please 3DX gods, help us.  :P

  5. Here's a diner for you to use, I have grouped it all so you can merge it into your map as a single object and drag it and place it where you would like. I have placed quite a few props in there, but I wanted to keep the size as small as possible. Thanks to Kati for some of her barbie props. :) Total size on the hard drive is 108 KB

Most of the bench seats have a normal chair pose, but I added sofa poses to a couple of them. All the stools have poses, and Ive added 3 lean against the wall poses, but no others as there's very little room. I suppose if you wanted to be naughty, you could add a bed pose to the counter or chest freezer. :P

    Have fun. :)

  6. The helicopter and the helipad are grouped separately, so you can use them to your demands

or simply remove the helipad and put the heli wherever you like.

Wow, you sure you're not spying on me?  :D

I've been working on a house on a rocky outcrop for a while now and after much chopping and changing of the design, namely access to the house, I made a helipad for it, but there was no way I was making the aircraft for it.  :P

Thanks Kati, this will be perfect for my project.

  7. For the beach party (and other occasions):

    Burger Grill with accessories.

Besides the "tools" that come with the grill itself I put the accessories on a small

camping table, but they are not grouped with it, so you can pick them separately

and put them where you want them:

There are the precut burger buns, a bottle with ketchup and with mayonnaise,

    tongs etc.

    Have fun!

    Picture Grill and Table

    Burger Grill

    Small Table w. Accessories

    Nice work Kati.

  8. Im probably in the minority here, but I think this is a bad idea, separating/splitting community resources, which is all this achieves, is never a good thing. I think it would be much better to ask Gizmo to help out with the forum, maybe using a subsection with a few categories within this World Editor forum section for people to share assets?

  9. I made a little map and I call it Back Alley. Its not fully detailed, but enough for some naughty times and lean spots and a few couches around the place, and a small coffee shop.

It would make a cool little RP spot for some scenarios. So feel free to grab it and use it, modify it, whatever it, and have fun.  :D

Edit, I've updated the map, grab it again for a bit better version.

Edit 2. I've been asked for a couple of things, so I will do one more pass over this map tomorrow and then will update this, and post the final map, then move onto my main project.

Edit 3. Ok guys, I've done a final pass on this map.. On top of a general tidy up, I have added a small apartment block with 8 furnished rooms, I replaced the lounges in the park with proper park benches, courtesy of Menon in this very thread.  :) I added a stack more pose spots to various areas, I detailed the cafe much better and added furniture to the rear section, including a cold room. I made one of the brick warehouses and actual warehouse, fitted a roller door and placed various props(crates, barrels) inside with pose spots.

I opened it to the public last night for a couple of hours and a lot of people liked it, and that was before the apartment block and changes I done today. I am quite happy with it how it all turned out and I do hope someone runs this map often on public, as I'd like to play in there myself.

The final copy of the map is down below to download, just place it into your 3DXChat directory/folder, then start the game and go into edit mode, then click "File" in the top left corner of the screen, then select "Load from file" then select "Back Alley.world", and you'll be up and running.

    And as always, have fun.

  10. Hi Xanar, thanks for the vids. I have 2 questions.

First is, there's a drop down button in the editor that has Global / Local, what does this do and what it is used for? I've asked at least 20 builders in the game and no one has been able to answer it.

Second is, in part 4 you show how to group objects and then move them as a group, but is there a way to rotate that group as a group while keeping the original shape? I asked this because when I used rotate on the group, each individual item in the group rotated on its own axis, thereby destroying the group when rotating it.

    Again, thanks for your help.

  11. As per title, it seems every time I name my room for sharing, the cursor just vanishes, if I move my mouse around, things highlight so its still there, just not visible. No matter what I do, close the room, change instances, it wont come back unless I shut the game down and restart it. Has anyone else seen this and know of a way to get it back short of a restart?

  12. Generally roleplay isn't a big deal. Every child is doing it. Like I am Batman or I am Mr Spock or whoever or whatever.

When it comes to sex it's a different story though. Because were not machines and can't prevent that some emotions will be involved.

So if youre a male who plays a female or a female who plays a male tell it to your coplayers and nobody will get hurt.

Personally I prefer to be myself here at 3dx, I am not a good actor. ;)

That's a really bizarre way at looking at roleplay and 3dx for that matter.

Firstly, most roleplayers like to do it with like minded people, well, its the only way you can RP on a realistic level, though I get what you mean when saying people playing the opposite sex, but the original questions are about roleplaying(not the 3dx pick-up game), which is playing out fixed or evolving stories and scenarios, and that sex doesn't matter in roleplay as the person is playing that role. The enjoyment comes from learning about that character and how your character meshes or reacts to them and the story.

The other part of your reply is most worrying, getting emotions and being hurt.. I'm trying to think of a way to say this without being too blunt, but I can't think of anything other than you really shouldn't be here for that.

Keep your feet planted and firmly keep hold of realistic expectations. :)

  13. Hey everyone,

I come here with much humility, an open mind, and eagerness to learn. I want to learn this roleplay thing so that I can play this game better. My ignorance of Roleplay has made me look like a fool. It has had me disrupt another user's 3DX experience and I simply will not make that mistake again. And it starts with me really understanding what Roleplay is.

My only understanding of it is typing stuff in a chat. I never did it in a virtual world though. Stuff like Yahoo Messenger is where I would do roleplay but it never involved 3D avatars. 3DX is my first look at this sort of chatting and social interaction and so roleplay really wasn't at the forefront of my mind because I never roleplayed in 3D before. So I have a series of questions and I would appreciate any help with this.

    My questions are:

    1. What is Roleplay?

    2. Is it a full time thing? Like is everyone roleplaying?

    3. How do you detect a roleplay?

    4. Is it disrespectful to not roleplay or function as a roleplayer?

As has been touched on already, Roleplay can mean different things to different people, so the definition is somewhat open.

I have roleplayed for years in various games, usually MMO's like Final Fantasy, Elders Scrolls, Star Wars, and in those games there are thousands of roleplayers and while there is still some variations to it in there, its much more generalised and the rules more normalised.

A general idea of roleplay is making a character, naming it, then giving it a life so to speak. For example, in Elder Scrolls, I play a travelling merchant woman, stopping at small villages and towns, striking up convos with other roleplayers. Before I started, I sat down and wrote a full bio up on her, as I find it easier to do it that way. things like where she was born, the status of her family and their background as well as your own, the type of person she is, her MO and other assorted references. I do this so I don't fall into the trap of sliding different ways during rp, so I have a reasonable firm stance on the demeanour. An example of sliding is when a young man whom I was quite fond of, asked for my help to set up a robbery on a caravan, and while the scenario sounded fun,  my character would have nothing to do with this, in doing so would break my character and be silly.

In picking a character to play, this game is a lot different as it does not have lore associated with it, so if you want to play a demon, vampire, werewolf, secret agent or coffee shop owner or just a normal person with some odd quirks, its all fine, though its best to pick something you know a bit about so convos can be a bit more engaging, but google is your friend if you feel like something different.

As for being full time, most don't, and I feel it would be unhealthy to do so. A lot of people including myself usually use an alt character that we will RP on, and another character to play the game so keeping them separate. Some scenarios can go on for weeks, even months in the case of a romance I had in Star Wars, it started as a random encounter with a bounty hunter in the deserts of Tatooine, we became friends, then lead to romance.

Once you've made your char and given it a life, and some sort of meaning, then comes the hard part, going out into the world and finding like-minded people to converse with, which leads to your question about finding RP. This game wasn't build with RP in mind, so lacks even the basic tools to help with this. In other games, if you walk around, rather than sprint or use a mount, is a clear sign to others you are in character, and games like Final Fantasy have a little RP tag that you can turn on in options that shows up next to your name, and finally, the RP communities usually end up making a area like a tavern/pub/bar somewhere in the world which will become a default meeting spot for like minded people. Your only avenue here is to use the forums, and add that info into your profile... Clunky, but its all we have atm.

There's two key things this game needs for RP to flourish and attract more. One is an area chat or /say, which usually covers around a 30 feet area around the character so you can walk into and out of rp as you go along, possibly joining in if its open, this is usually a common sense thing and just listening in for a moment will tell if its open banter or a more serious private convo, but usually, that sort of private convo will be taken to a remote area like your private house, or possibly group chat, but as a general rule, if you're out in public chatting, then you're "usually" welcoming anyone to join in. Even in the current small places and clubs, where the the convos would overlap it would still be a benefit, as it gives users an extra channel separate to World and Local which people can shit talk in.

The second, which is symbiotic to the first, is a map to facilitate this open RP style. The recently released beach map goes a long way towards this as its huge, allowing you to find private pockets in a still public space, but what is needed is a more what I call a character neutral area, something like a small city area with a couple of streets, some shops, offices and maybe a small park so naturally occuring RP can happen more organically in a setting that makes sense for so many different types of characters.

For your last question, No, not at all. You pay your monthly fee and can play how you like. The two groups play in the same place for years without too many problems at all, sometimes people can be mean and try and disrupt RPers by standing, jumping and other silly things in between the avatars, but this game has an excellent ignore function that not only mutes unwanted and disruptive chat, but makes the offending avatar vanish. :)

  14. I'm always leaving this part for your own interpretation, forcing the reader to think, just a little bit. I mean something totally opposite... If you're thinking that way you must be wrong... but I feel like it's not about being 'wrong' or 'right' here.

I've been making RP happen in the games that never meant to be considered as one, adding simple verbs, mapping and iconing.

I would say: "YES" to everything and spit on "3:" - you're getting triggered so much at this point. It would take only a tiny bit of effort but would change the game at some point, pushing more or less players into RP. Sadly enough for those people who want to make it happen. This sort of thing will have another log left on the road; people who don't like any sort of relations. I know that you will say that it's "just about RP" but it also stands there as one of the reasons. You mentioned the nice example of how it will look like with the /say verb implied but because of those open interactions people will be - or try - traveling through many dimensions. What I mean by that is that some of the players will not like to involve multiple players in their actions at once, neglect the others actions throw at them and do not follow any sort of relations at all. People who actually "RP" here aren't that open, that's the brutal true about it but I do agree that RP'er is a guarantee of keeping the player for much longer.

You bring up some interesting points Chikan.

Firstly, changes are not meant to lure or force others into rp that are not currently doing it, its to facilitate it for roleplayers.

Your main contention seems to be the /say or area chat. Sure, not everyone plays that way, nor wants to include others in all their scenarios, I am of the same mind, as something sensitive or very personal will often be left for behind closed doors, but for general banter and intros, I and many others have no problem with sharing what we are talking about as it builds a sense of community, just like these forums do. I do agree that the current club maps wouldn't be very conducive for /say because of the cramped conditions, and its why I suggested a small city/town area along with /say for it to work, as one or the other by itself does not address the lack of roleplay support this game suffers.

Everything does not happen in /say, its for the meeting, greeting and general everyday chats.. If people form a relationship from that, they may want to go to one of the existing clubs, then maybe to one of their homes after that. It all works together with the existing platform in place.

It all comes down to choice, to participate or not in the area chat, or the RP. Adding a town setting along with /say does not affect the current game in any way, and people not interested in either will see no difference at all to the way they currently play. As I said in my opening post, there is no downside to this, only a chance to build a bigger and more stable player base.

  15. Have to be honest think biggest issue i see with a public RP location, would not really be catfish as much as it would be. If nothing interesting is happening for a while, would any RPers really care to sit and wait for anyone to show up in the half or empty room. Right now i am not really sure there enough RPers around that you would consistently have people coming there, especially when you have time zone difference creating gaps too between users here.

But that is just my personal thoughts on the subject, that said i would make easier if RPers showed there regularly to find some. But if i were to suggest something i think making profile search functions and in add like form or something. Where you could post i would like to so this or that, then other who look for instance RP tag could see it and contact you in a PM. But not sure what really work, i guess would be smart to test before including anything at any rates i guess.

EDIT: That said i think if a sort search function for interest were to be included, i think it should be primarily for Niche interest like BDSM and RP plus fetishes. Think if it worked intensively most would just sit using it to booty call others and nobody would go to public zones or user rooms. If location were to be made i think better to make location that represent fantasizes, like The Office, Doctors, Class room etc that can be interest to both regular users and RPers a like. But would make it easier to know certain places might be hot spots where you find other RPers.

That's the point Kimmy, because the game in its current state is not RP friendly, many RPers are not hanging around.

Its impossible to say just how popular such a feature would be, but its also impossible to say it wouldn't be popular because of the lack of RP happening at the moment, its like a paradox or catch 22.

I can only go off the people that I spoke to during these last 3 months, myself having an RP profile meant I did attract like minded people for conversations, and the more keen they were for some open world RP the less likely they were to stay.

The way I see it, is there's an opportunity to tap into another market that the game does not cater to in its current state, and being that the saloon map cost $25 to buy, I seriously cant see something that would suit the needs, cost too much money.

EDIT: On the front page there is this https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/38412 for $165

  16.   - that's exactly what you call "have no idea" here, heh.

It doesn't... but you will not have XX - Dimension RP going on with the people who came there with some mere RP and that's the main problem here - no doubt about it. Just like mentioning that /say has no basis at all. It is used for years and it's quite common thing but not around those areas and not with this player mentality. As long as there's no knowledge in those terms going on (RP-wise) and there is an ignore button that cut off anyone who's willing to RP in those future locations; this idea has no future and place. I'm not saing that it's all pointless and it is a roadblock for us who would like to see some RP, but this fact makes me think of who's more of a "troll"; those who enter those rooms and aren't RP'ing, leaving you with to answer, no RP response, PG & GodModding (and/or in worst case ignore) or those who hung on your PM's for any other reason.

You're not a native english speaker Chikan? Anyway, I think I can finally see what you're talking about now. You're saying that because the game is not star wars-(insert any game), that people don't come for roleplay here? And that its not worth adding in features for roleplayers because of that? That's basically the vibe I'm getting from your posts?

I think you're wrong, Now granted i've only been here 3 months, but the shear number of people just I've seen come and then leave in that time has been staggering, with them saying to me the limiting role play opportunities as being the number one factor in their decisions.

I'll list a few key points:

1: RP'ers and non RP'ers can coexist without any problems, they do so now in every other game on the market.

2: People who are just pose clickers will gravitate to no-chat rooms, just as they always have.

3: /say is needed for persistent RP, it allows for passersby to join in the conversations, for example, sally is playing a coffee shop owner, and she is in convo with a customer as I walk up, and because of /say, i can hear them talking and wait for the right moment to interject my order, or can even join in the convo depending on the nature of it, then the next day I go down there, I see her again, this time, she talks about someone she met and so it goes, a persistent world.. Where relationships can be built over time ICly, some that may lead to romance and others, friendship.

Now I know this is possible to do now, but its such a contorted affair to achieve that most will just leave in frustration, as they have been.

4: This is not changing the focus of the game development, just simply adding to it to make it capture more long term players, which I'm sure the management would love, and hopefully in turn using the extra funding to expand the game with more poses, music and building options and everything that all the types of players will enjoy.

5: The churn rate(new people coming into the game Vs people leaving) is staggering and not sustainable in my opinion. Role players are generally long term players.

  17. That's never the case if you still try, so... that's most definitely not that.

That's probably the main reason why it's not yet implemented; to easy to be done and still to easy walk past them and/or notice them as 'problem' here.

Location can still be made. It's not the same thing but still... can be done by some cats of construction.

/say - Well, I see it as a too much of harassment for those players who aren't into RP-thing and who would like to walk past it. You can mention here the 'location' again and tell that there would be only certian areas, where the players will be/should expect the RP but we know already that's too much at the moment.

Making a user room just doesn't cut it for a number of reasons, the main being it relies on them being online, and there's the problem of people knowing its even there. Much better to have an official map for it.

And that /say argument has no basis at all. its been used for years in just about every mmo, and you're far more likely to find disruptive players in the mmo environment than here. and its easy for players to nullify anyway, as it takes a couple of seconds to simply ignore any troll that annoys you. And as for others seeing it, its no different to how it works now, its just another tab, you choose to look at it or don't.

No offence, but you have no idea what you're talking about here, and it seems you're arguing for the sake of it, as nothing you've said makes any sense at all.

  18. I always love how those "fake" RP'ers remain so "OG" in the terms of RP; putting so much effort into spoiling their profiles with so many tags, so many colors and "likes"; ohh... and most important one "ONLY RP APPROACHES!" - nothing better then fucking them with their own weapon.

Nahh... there is no need to blame the locations, in fact... could be more but you can see some cats working those locations to make them look like they've imagined. I wouldn't say it's a problem this sort of nature.

Hehe... yeah, had some interviews too. I wonder what that 'girl' was looking for... because most of the ideas - like I mentioned before - remain overused.

I'm not sure what you mean by most of this, its so broken that its hard to tell?

Anyway, you saying there's no need to blame locations is way off the mark though, as neutral settings have far more life in them for so many types of scenarios.

For example, a club is a club and will always be a club, the reasons for being at a club are so very limited. A small city block with generic looking shops and offices and a small park can be anything you want as a stage for your existence in that zone, and one that can be persistent for a very long time. This expands role play possibilities 100-fold over what 3dx currently offers.

There is also one other hurdle though, and that's the chat option, for the open world to be more rp friendly, a /say option needs to be in place so talking in that channel covers approx 30 ft in an area around you, this allows you to walk into and out of convos for a far more immersive experience.

What's important to remember here is, these ideas are extremely easy and more importantly very inexpensive to implement, have no down sides and a very good chance to build the player base up with more longer term players.

Final Fantasy 14 online has around 6 million players, the role play server has over 3 times the amount of people on it than the next biggest server.

Whether or not you would use it or even like the idea is irrelevant, as there's a massive player base out there that 3dx is missing out on by not being more RP friendly.

  19. And this is something, where there are different interpretations of the term Roleplay, I'm afraid.

For me Roleplay is exactly that: Creating a situation or scenario, may it be playing a boss in an office or sex with an alien in outerspace.

However, I have the impression that there are quite a lot of people in 3dx who define Roleplay as I would define Descriptive Sex, using words to describe the what and how, though not necessarily creating a situation or a secenario.

This is me and my partner, and a few friends. We came from another game, Star Wars The Old Republic and were kind of spoilt by the beautiful vast locations to RP in, which opens up so many more opportunities. I made a suggestion in this forum about including more locations, such as a city street with offices and shops and parks because with what is here, it becomes limiting, then stale, no matter how good your imagination is.

I'm not sure what the vision is for this games future, whether the team is making enough off people just wanting it as a sex simulator or whether they have plans to expand to attract more types of people, like RPers.

Anyway, onto the subject at hand.

I usually do the layout for the scenarios, as I'm the only one that can it seems. :P

The last one we done was about business rivalry, and it was a lot of fun using this game as a platform for it. It went for around 2 weeks, playing a few hrs every couple of nights, and resulted in my character getting killed, which I didn't plan for.

See, I set the basic premise, and will answer a few questions about roles before we start, but its up to each person how it goes from there, so it(the story) can evolve into a wild beast sometimes, and others it can sort of break by someone not thinking ahead or doing something really out there. Thankfully, it doesn't happen a lot, and even though my char died, it was so much fun.

If you want to learn more about RP, there's quite a few places on the net to find basic references to get you started, though often they will be platform specific, but there's still good info amongst that.

For me, the most important part is your char, and how much thought goes into it before you start, because if you don't, you can so easily contradict yourself or just say too much that doesn't quite fit and it can get ugly.

What I do is sit down and write a full bio of the char, starting with just the basics of age, temperament, place of birth, how you were raised and by whom, if they're still around, really give the char a life, some of the little things can play important parts of stories you come across and having them in your memory all laid out beforehand makes for a far better experience. I know some that just wing it, and for pub/club stuff, that's probably okish, but that mostly depends on the experience of that person.

Anyway, as I said at the start, we talked about it, and honestly cant see ourselves being here much longer the way the current game is, but will keep an eye on it if it expands, because it does off some unique features that are quite nice for some RP scenarios.

  20. Hi there.

I really like what the guys and girls from SGD have made here, but its extremely limited in what you can do in RP over the long term.

I think someone said early in this thread about a street, and that's exactly the sort of thing needed, like a main street, with the current clubs being able to be accessed via that street, though the access is not the important part. having a street with various shops and small offices would open up so many more rp opportunities, in turn longevity.

I just can't see myself being here long with clubs and a boat being the only avenues for RP.
