Ive been working a lot to keep that balance while having a full range of locales within the world. The 64bit update has made this a possibility, and Its coming along nicely but slowly as ive had other projects ive been doing. This is basically V3 of this idea as Ive tried and failed twice before to build a big city, in fact, it was the very first thing I tried to build when the world builder was released over 3 years ago, but having to build the cityscape and landscapes for the backdrops meant most of the budget was eaten up by those so it left little to nothing to build the locales themselves. Those were shelved and eventually deleted as new tools became available and when the 64bit update came, I started fresh with what you now see. Im using the base items as much as I can to keep the block count down and youre right, especially in a build like this, letters and numbers as a single item would free up many hundreds of blocks for me. Furniture like tables, wardrobes, drawers, cupboards, sinks, appliances would be fantastic as would be more bar stuffs like glasses, cups, mugs, wine bottles, spirit bottles and the like would be awsome. I have recently added in an apartment block, you can see the entrance in the second screenshot and I only have 3 rooms and the lobby office, but I made it in such a way that I can add many more rooms easily so people can make one their own. Theres 2 more rooms above the coffee shop. I have a nice cocktail bar and stage, a new police station that ive just finished building with cells and line-up and interview rooms. a Irish pub which im in the process of rebuilding at the moment. a cheap motel with a few rooms available there. a restaurant, a small diner, hospital and an underground subway station with train, and Im hoping to squeeze in a small garden park.

Just about every MMO game has a local area chat for people to roleplay with, and as you said Kathy, it allows for people to walk into and out of conversations without the need for group. But as you also mention, it doesnt really work in tiny locations with lots of people jammed in together as they will nearly all be within the chat range anyway, so it would be no different to using the local tab we currently have.

Im glad you like the rooms, I have a few more on the way that I will be putting up. tor, some advice I can give is to look at others works and see what primitives(blocks) are used for different shapes and items, textures used and general ideas from others. And obviously, the more you play around with it the better you will likely become. I know when I look back on my early rooms I built I can see a huge difference to what I make now, but also we now have much better tools than we did early on, a huge amount of new primitives and textures and lighting. Dont get too caught up in high details for basic props, I remember going into a laggy room once and checked it out, the person had spent way too much on silly things, like 100+ prims on a toaster and things like that, its silly and doesnt add to the feel of the room. Also try and stay away from real-life dimentions for inside your house. this is an error ive seen many make and while the idea of keeping the dimentions close to real is appealing, it causes bad problems for the game because of how our avatars work and move, the camera clipping can be nasty in tight corners and rooms, so its best to make your rooms a decent size, and the overall layout as close to open plan as possible.
  4. Its a great idea, but as others have sort of mentioned, no need to drop any map, Its easy to alter the UI to add in a feature like this.
  5. Not only that, but depending on where you are in the world, or even what state you live, the uniforms differ so much in design and colour that no matter what was put forward, someone would complain. Look, I cant stand tattoos, in RL or in the game, but I was happy they added them for the people that do. Wear it or dont, its another option which is good.
  6. The best way to deal with this is to load the object/map that you want to merge then move the item high in the air and save it there. Then go back to your map and merge it. If its a small item, then make a big block and colour it or bright pattern and place the item on/near it so it can be found easily when merging.
  7. Yep, I made one, as have others. Theres no problem making a church in the builder.
  8. Indeed, my naughty mind has been in overload thinking of all the possibilities.
  9. Wow, so much anger... That cant be doing you any good?
  10. Too right, though you cant expect much more from them, or the knuckle dragging neanderthals that plague the game.
  11. Ive been asking this since the patch that removed them from us. I have a couple of builds in limbo because of this.
  12. Theres no way they will head in this direction as most social platforms are free with a marketplace attached to generate income, it would be impossible and/or financial suicide for 3dx to compete in that segment as a sub only option. Sure, adding more social aspects to this platform is good and helps player retention, but 3dx has done as well as its done because its not marketed primarily as social game.

I finally finished off the BOS Bunker, heres a cut and paste from the description before. It is loosely based off a location in a game I played, Fallout 76, and The Brotherhood Of Steel underground bunker that is within the game. When coming across this location I thought it was such a cozy spot that it would make a nice room to be in with that someone special in this game. I started building this around a year ago but because of the lack of decent lighting tools, I couldnt get the feel I wanted so I shelved it. To me, lighting is the most important part of having a room feel good or ordinary so after a few wasted efforts early on, I now only partially build a room then see how the lighting works for the size and layout before progressing any further. It runs well on notebooks and is 383KB. In one of the pics below, youll see where I have circled a spot in the generator room, I wanted to add in the glory hole pose template but didnt want to have a hole in the wall and ruin the look of this room just for that, so I added in some railings to that room at the right heights so as the hands for that pose end up in the right spot and not in mid air. it turned out better than I thought it would and looks great, and more importantly, looks like its a natural part of the room. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Bunker.zip
  16. Ive been coming across this a lot lately in our small groups, it matters not how many are in the room, even 1 person in the room. Ive worked out what triggers it, thought it doesnt happen all the time... If the people/person in the room already are using a seated/leaning pose, they become invisible to the next person entering the room. I havnt done enough testing to work out which poses are the ones causing it, but I seen just using Sit-1 on the floor made me invisble, as did sitting on a sofa. It was not untill I got up and used another piece of furniture and got up again did I become visible to my friend.
  17. This feature has been asked for so many times by so many people, Mandy. We can only hope its something they may add in the future at some point.
  18. While I dont use these values you listed, I have a set 5 colours as my go-to for normal lighting, fluro, floodlight, tungsten, candle, fire, any others I will make as I go. Ive included a pic that I use for adjustment of colours. If I want a little more or less colour left to right, and up and down to adjust the brightness. While you are correct in the size is not the right way to adjust the overall brightness, it can be used for some fine tuning and brightness variation in some rooms. A good example is a table lamp next to a bed, I will use a shrunken light tool to display the concentrated light directly from the lamp that doesnt travel far and normal size light placed near to spread that same colour across the bed and area around it. Its very hard to achieve that same effect with just using brightness.

Hey guys, with the festive season upon us I decided to make a liitle room. This is my cabin from the lakeside room I updated and re-released recently, I added it to a snowy alps theme and put some snow covering on it, then added some coloured bud lights. The inside is pretty much unchanged from the lake map, with the obvious inclusions of the x-mas tree and some coloured lights above the fireplace, and I also squeezed the dual lounge a little closer together. I placed some enviromental effects either side of the cabin that when viewing out the windows from inside look cool.. Its 214KB and runs well on notebooks and I hope you like it. Xmas Cabin.zip
  20. Yes please!, Ive wanted swimsuits since the game released.
  21. I was thinking about this again the other day when having a chat to someone about another error, his problem while different ended up being an old install, or be it remnants of that install causing conflicts. He fixed it by saving all the .world files to a seperate folder then done a uninstall and clean out of any and all old files and folders.
  22. Considering no one else is having any issue with this, I would try and diagnose on your end. Are there any antivirus issues, or permissions to a directory (do you have your files in a different place to the main directory?)
