The Curio Avi had no body under clothing which made making transparent clothing impossible, yet long dresses possible. There has to be a way to make sections of legs that would clip invisible.
As for clipping that would occur in chairs such wide meshes could encounter, it seems that the pros all expect some clipping to occur in even AAA games. It seems the answer is how much will you accept. Even that could be worked around by having wider chair props that could accommodate those meshes.
As silly as I think marriage is in a game, I think it's even sillier to have that feature without wedding dresses.
unless you make the avatar walks with dress but not their leg, or the dress has it's rig, the answer will be :no

We saw a surge of new players from people stuck at home from the Covid Lockdowns.
Those are slowly being lifted in many places, so people are going out again. No need for an outlet like 3DX.
I would not worry to much about the number of players though.
Game's still vibrant and alive. Lack of updates notwithstanding.it is true, but I'm afraid that it's not only because the corona it's gone... because the rooms, or builders, are actually lesser before pandemic

it's sad to say... but it seems ppl are leaving this game now.
remember how many different large rooms(which is not club or dj room) we got last month? at least 5 I guess
how about now?
I saw 3 of these large rooms yesterday: 2 is dj rooms, and 1 is a simple sex room made from a lot of uploaded mods and room samples. I know it's unfair to say that, but ain't this means we doesn't have much people in this game?

so that might be reason why 3dxchat doesn't have a fabric engine: because devs need more clients, but not all clients are gamers, especially for 2021, when graphic cards are crazilly expensive...
Imagine that, if one day 3dxchat will really become like curio or a better version of sl, that will be a milestone on this planet's history lol

You and JenC and others I'm sure know far more about the mechanics of how clothing is rigged and what can be done in 3DX. However, I can safely say I never saw any clipping of legs through dresses in the Curio Unity project. Clipping would crop up mostly on close fitting clothes when the Avi was made larger.
If the game was never made... yes, it could be possible because all the display will be pre-maded for showing. but yea, it is possible to make the avatars completely fits their outfit and not clipping, just need some extra hours work

I don't see them ever switching game engines. They arn't even on the newest Unity version.
unfortunately, yes. although I'm not mean the competitors(seriously... are there any game like 3dxchat even exist except the pirated version?), but we can't having these kind of dresses. Because when avatar walks, it's walking animation might make their legs went through it.
there is a solutions which doesn't need a individual rig for every dresses or fabric engine: which just like you said: make the ankle part "wider" , but there's 2 problem within this solution :
1:when avatar walking, there's still a small chance that their knee, heel or leg will went through it
2:this edit will make avatar can't sit down properly on the ground, because their dress will open up like a blunderbuss
for honestly, these are really not hurting in those 3d chat games such as sl/imvu, but seems our devs have more strict requirements on the costume qualities, so the costumes may cause such problems might not appear in game, and that really make the game better. so maybe we'll see what will they add to game in future.

I've seen more issues in clothes that are tight to the body. or perhaps, in other worlds (unlike 3dx) clothes replace the body underneath to save polygons (unlike 3dx)? Good and bad to that from what I see here as opposed to there. Good, cause you don't have clipping, bad cause you have no "body" underneath.
The only problem is: ain't you know we don't got cloth calculations/rig so the dresses can't be longer than the leg, because it will go straight through it?
if we really got a fabric engine in game, things will be solved easily: we can finally have some longer dresses, no more clothes will stuck into objects. but on the other hand: the stability of the game might be lag like sh....snail, because not everyone's computer has a strong cpu and graphic card
I know it will be cool if we have that things, but unfortunately, 3dxchat it's still a last generation sex game, the only way to avoid these clipping glitches is make the clothes shorter---or tighter. maybe one day if the game updates to ue4 or having fabric engines, the problem will been solved

I know what the costs were stated to be by the Devs at the time for profession grade Mocap and what they used at the time - 10 years ago. There used to be a youtube clip of them filming the pole dancer who was converted to Mocap for this series of pole dance sequences strung together by Zhar to create below routine. What you see below was filmed shortly after the UNITY 5 upgrade if I remember correctly and how it fucked things up in terms of shaders and other issues. notice the hands off the pole, and the pole movement in some of the movements (never understood why she made such an UGLY avi for this.)
And yes, the CEO has DIRECTLY told me he has HUNDREDS of Mocap sex scenes in storage.
An interesting concept one of the Devs spoke about they wanted to achieve in the future, was to eventually record directly RL movements to avatar animations that could simply be plugged in.
Again, this is why I was hoping 'another company' Gizmo stated they were working with was this company.
As for Gizmo having to worry about his liability, he wouldn't have any if someone hacked them in anymore than he would if he created a plug-in to broadcast html5 and someone was playing the most recently released movies in 3DX. If a complaints was filed against the person doing it, Gizmo would take it down or ban the user and the plaintiff would deal with the legal - not SexyDevil. Why do you think this goes on in the old worlds for now 10 years? if the old world company's where at risk they would be far more militant and it wouldn't be going on. Same with DJing that goes on in 3DX now.
sorry THX, but just like twiggy said: it's not cost that much to make poses——yes, it's hard, but not means it cost a lot. otherwise there's no one making new games.
First thing to mention is not every game need a live-action captured animation.it more seen in act games or some cutscenes which plays during the game progress. these are really coast much, but if you check on 3dx... well, the poses they're using are more "robotic", the avatar doesn't look that "live" while standing or interacting with objects. So as far as we can tell the game it's running on the programmed poses... or at least most of them. Because the live action poses will be longer, and it will be more hard to make as a loop.
On the other hand... I'm pretty sure that gizmo&Lisa just make some of the animations, and the others, such like dancing or walking etc, they just purchased some finished animations, which it's not expensive also. but back to the point, which 3dxchat doesn't have, and don't need any live-action captures for their poses. remember we're still on unity4 but not ue4? that's the reason why. 3dxchat it's a good game, but it's not a next generation game, so we don't really need those real captured animations. and for those more robotic poses---they're way cheaper than the real ones, but works well enough.
btw I think the reason why we doesn't getting any big update it's not only because the policy and anti-piracy problems, but something worse: which gizmo realized he can't make the pose/clothes editor both built-in and user friendly. if the situation it's like this, maybe using some professitional tools like maya will do better job on making new stuffs... but just a guessing, I'm not sure either

Ain't our major problem should be "why" but not "what" ?
well... I'm not good at programming, so I'm not gonna say this is a easy work. but just a reminder: 4 non-interactive poses, without large body/hand movements, doesn't need 4 months to make, and the "cage" it's basically the most common thing that any player can make one in 10 minutes: the only difference will be the pose, but the cage pose is non-interactive anyway. so somehow this is actually "worse" than the player version. And then... we have a problem: why devs costs 4-month, just make 4 poses that need as maximum as 2 months to make, and every player can make a better version?
Yes, some players may not like the bdsm stuff, but how to keep a vanilla stays pure and sweet? just not putting any chocolates in it. they can totally ignore the update, doesn't install it in their room, or making this pose to some other use---such like sitting on the side of balcony/patio. but this should not be our major problem, what we need it's to know what costs them so long, and make just one pose object, and this pose is not necessary at all...

I just had another idea. It may seem silly, or not very original, I agree.
An open shirt, (m/f), plain color, or printed with checks, which we could change the color, with the long sleeves rolled up, on a T-shirt, which we could change the color.
We could put it over shorts, or pants, or jeans?
In a closed model, that goes into the pants, it could be a cowboy shirt, or cowgirl shirt, like you suggested a cowboy/girl hat. It could go with it.I think we have something like that, but nice idea, I'll look forward to see if I can make one
