RosaFoxy
I normally would not bring this to light. But the whole thing has been troubling me and it brings up the question as to what we as a community regard as acceptable behavior from others in the community. I'll not name names in this little instance and I ask for those of whom know of it, please don't name those involved either. I hope to keep this as civil as possible for all parties involved. The other evening, I was at the Sin and an individual was casually throwing out the "N" word. Of course, it was the "A" version and not the "R". I politely asked this person to stop using the said word because it was offensive no matter which form it's used in. The individual continued using the racist slur and went on to explain that I should not feel offended over it and this person has an ethnic friend who allows it's use. Long story short, I politely informed this person that I will be blocking/ignoring and I promptly left the venue. Unfortunately, this whole episode would not of bothered me except this person made no attempt to even apologize and continued on like it was perfectly acceptable. Am I wrong? sengi, Kimba, Kito and 12 others

Staci
One black friend does not speak for all ethnic minority or black people ...that's like Jesse Jackson speaking for all blacks...trust me he does not. Respectful behavior should be provided to everyone and no one person can wave a wand to approve bad behavior. Role model behaviors you wish others to demonstrate to you = Respect Thank you for the post.
Hera
Beautiful Fey - that sort of behavior should not be allowed to happen. More then you should have been saying something to this poor sap. If he feels because a buddy allows him to say it that it is ok, he really needs to be educated. As Riela said, screen shot and report it. As much as I hate this reporting system, it is what we have. My apologies that there are still ignorant people. Love you Fey!

I should point out that it was not meant in any kind of offensive fashion, i was there , seen the whole scene, i am not arguing that it wasn;t stupid of him to do so , becouse it was. You ignored him, you will enver see him again, thats ok aswell, but it just soudns that you are angry now becouse he didn't apologise. It just happens that as far as i seen that word they use for each other (meaning his group of friends) so it is clearly not meant to offend anyone and not even addressed at anyone but his friends. SO you left here saying that you are the one to judge how should he socialise with his friends ? I am sorry , but i am not a fan of this over the top social justice warrior movement. And next time you could use the whole story and not only the N word part. ANd lastly , if you want to judge anyone, blame mainstream media and artists for making it popular all over the world it long lost any menaing it had priviously. As allways not meant to offent anyone aswell,Dande. McNick and Bartroli

Hera
Thanks Bartoli for your apology. That is very kind and no need to apologize for your English, we all are pretty understanding when it comes to that. English is not everyone's fist language. Secondly it does not have to be said offensively for it to be taken that way. We are a very diverse community and we need to try to be considerate of all. Once again Happy Gaming Bartroli and Staci
Guest BooBear
Hmmm.... The truth is there are a lot of multiplayer gamers on PS3 and XBOX360 that use the "a" version of this word often. I personally do nor find the word appropriate in any medium...but to each his own. Unfortunately using the term in any format leads back to its roots...which is very demeaning and derogatory. The most disturbing part is that the younger generation is taking a modified version of an older condescending word and making it a common and acceptable word, for all to use, without conviction. It truly is a sad display of personal character in my personal opinion. -Boo
Sage Stoner
I really hope this discussion doesn't deteriorate into character assassination. As far as I am concerned, the suitability of the word in question is not the real issue. It's the cause, but it's not the real issue. The real issue here is that the majority of us did not want in-game moderation, and when in-game moderation stopped, it meant that we all agreed to respect other people's feelings in public areas. In my opinion, that means that if another player asks you to stop doing something, you don't argue about the rules or about your rights. You stop doing whatever it is out of respect for the person who asked you to stop. This applies equally to using offensive words, speaking in a language other than English, having sex in public near where other people are socializing, or any other behavior in which the rights of one party start to infringe on the rights of others. Part of what this forum is for is discussing issues like this, so that we all know what the rules actually are (and the rules do change from time to time) and that we can understand perspectives of other people, who don't necessarily think as we do. I think that Fey handled the situation really well and her message to this forum was fair and well balanced. In response to that, Bartroli identified himself as the person in question, explained his point of view, and offered to apologize. Kudos to the both of them.Given all that, I see no reason to skew the discussion into the realm of moral judgement of personal character. As Sgt. Friday might have said: "Just the facts, man." Guest Arya
Forget, one of my friend has been victim of racism. It was just stupid so we ignored him and we discovered that the guy left because he didn't have any friend We can't fight against stupidity but we can ignore it and suddenly, stupidity loose all it's "power" against other people. That's what I think You did well to explain it on the forum. I hope he is saying the truth, in that case no matter mysterico, Bartroli and McNick

Riela
Hello, I am bumping this topic for single reason. I just saw guy around with name " Rapist " while personally I am not affected by that,It is highly offensive and it CAN hurt some people who play this game.I would personally like to ask community that if they see him to instantly report him.As stated earlier in this topic, it is highly against rules and secondary that name can cause lots of pain around. I still can't believe this game have no name blacklist. /rant Thank You Shanti, pashion, Euk and 4 others
