Rooms are carried over, just don't go into the room editor without the DLL installed. Most of your stuff will be highlighted red and when you close the room everything in red or outside the apartment will disappear. Personally, I don't use the DLL. My room is simple, but I get complemented on its simplicity.

Also try updating your drivers. If you have a AMD card like me you'll have to go to the AMD website since the AMD program is bugged and will say you don't need a update.

Yes, you can cancel the auto-renew. Go to your email. Find BMT and find your login info for BMT and then go the BMT website and login. Once logged in you can find the subscription and cancel it. You'll still be able to play, it just cancels the auto-renew sub.

Use simple water in the setting and maybe a setting low.

Personally I would just use 2.5. This is nothing like the transition from 1.0 to 2.0 where 2.0 was pretty unusable in the first two releases. 2.5 from what I have seen has a couple of minor bugs like F5. It is perfectly usable. I know people don't remember the past very well, but when 2.0 was first released, there were bug fixes 1-2 times a week and 2.0 quickly became stable and playable. The point is, the more people use 2.5 now the quicker more bugs will get found and be fixed. This is the best time to be reporting bugs.
 
I think VR took quite a while to develop and it is true that the amount of people who have VR is tiny and it is still debatable whether VR is something that will ever see mainstream use. Being an optimist, now that VR is kind of done, then now the devs can focus on all the other new stuff like poses.

1. you get full access to all the nakedness and sex poses. No restrictions.
2. There is no cash shop. Each gender has a wardrobe. Woman have quite a bit more cloths though. 
3. you get xgold for logging in everyday. Up to 300 if you don't miss a day. You can also buy it with real cash. That is the currency for minor features such as buying a virtual beer, sending a virtual gift with a message, purchasing photo slots for your bio, getting married/ divorced and probably the biggest is extra character slots. You start off with one Avatar. each additional avatar costs 10,000 xgold. You can have 3 max. So choose your name and gender wisely at first. 
 
That's about it.  20 bucks gets you in. You get two apartments to decorate and invite people to. Can visit others peoples rooms or hang out in the public locations. The xgold stuff is minor. You can enjoy the game without ever even spending any or buying any.
