  1.

Yeah.  I saw that post when it was made.

The terms of service provide at 3.06 that "Names, Avatars, Images / Video and Signatures Which have to [sic] association with pedophilia, sexual abuse" are forbidden.

But the fact that something is forbidden by the terms of service does not make it 'criminal'.  In other words, the room creator can get banned here on 3dx, but he's not going to prison

I clearly don't remember what the EULA said about rape...

I think rape role play would fall under the 3.06 provision forbidding "sex abuse."  It is probably forbidden by the terms of service.  But I don't think it is 'criminal' in the commonly accepted sense of the word.  The room creator can get banned here on 3dx, but he's not going to prison

Are we arguing, MeiLing?  I think we agree.  The room is a violation of the terms of service.  Not for association with pedophilia, but rather for depiction of sexual abuse.

  2. Rplaying a minor is not legal. Are you that mentionning "rape" in the name of the room is legal? Any assaulted women would find it offensive.

Different countries have different ideas about freedom of speech.  In Greece, it's illegal to criticize Christianity.  In Germany, anti-Semitic speech is illegal.  Lots of countries criminalize insulting political leaders.  All of these things are legal in the USA.  We're from all over so there isn't one answer to the 'is it legal?' question.

No offense, but I don't know why you're bringing up RPing a minor, MeiLing.  There's nothing in the room name that references underage RP.

I happen to be in the USA.  In the USA, I'm pretty sure it's legal to RP underage sex.  But any visual depiction of kids in sexual activity is illegal in the USA--even drawings.  I'm not positive on that ... but I'm not researching it because ... blech.

Whether something is 'offensive' is a different question than whether it is 'criminal'.

I saw the room name in question this morning and I did find it offensive.  Not because I object to (non)consent RP, but because I was worried that sex assault survivors might find it triggering.  I do have a problem with that.  But that's just me.  I'm not imposing my view of morality on anyone else.

For what it's worth, I think the room is probably a violation of the 3dx terms of use provision that bars sex abuse names and so on.

  3. I have nothing to do with the room in question.  However, having said that:

.... I only think that announcing a room with such a name should not be possible. Calling rape and hurt women are purely criminal acts !

    A "criminal act"?  Really?

    role play.  ˈrōl ˌplā
    noun
    1.  another term for role playing.

    verb
    1.  act out or perform the part of a person or character, for example as a technique in training or psychotherapy.
"study participants role-played as applicants for community college"
    2.  participate in a role-playing game.

Every thing that happens in that room is consensual.  How do I know?  Because you have to click on the room to enter it.

Also, to see any sex animations you have to first accept a partner request.

Additionally?  You have to click the button agreeing to the position.

So please tell me how rape or force role play is criminal.

  4. How many subscribers are there?  Let's (conservatively?) say a thousand.  That's $20,000 a month, or almost a quarter million a year gross.  But I have no idea how much they pay for hosting or licensing or whatever.

There appear to be only one or two people intermittently working on the game.  I think they're just taking their hundred grand each and laughing all the way to the bank ... and doing the absolute bare minimum to keep the money flowing in.

That's a shame because 3dx could soooo easily become absolutely ground-breakingly cool ... and could be even bigger than RLC, IMVU, and SL combined.   But I think the owners are happy with their comfortable incomes and their leisure time.

    I can't say that I blame them.

  5. Ewwww!

Corned beef on untoasted rye with yellow mustard only (not the fancy stuff) and definitely NO CHEESE!

    And a pickle too.

(Not that I'm hard to please or high maintenance or anything.)

  6. Great idea, Matrix!

Grrr!  Why are the character design options sooo pathetically limited and half-assed in 3dx?!  Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Skyrim, GTA V, Black Desert ... pretty much any semi-modern game has character design options that put 3dx to absolute shame.  Which is weird because avatars are so important in 3dx.  You'd think Devs wouldn't phone that part in.

You know what I'd like to see?  I'd love the option to design my own kitty.  Hehe.

There is a whole universe of pussies out there ... but in 3dx we all look like the exact same prepubescent sexless Barbie girl with no labia.  It shouldn't be that way.  Take a look at this:

Devs so totally need to hire a woman or two.

  7. I kind of expected to be trolled by posting about my 'problem', but I'm absolutely thrilled at the quality of all the responses here.  This community rocks!  Thank you, everyone!!

I'm certain he never intended to show me the pic--and I certainly never wanted to see it.  It was a weird accident.  From now on I'm going to try harder to remain ignorant of these things.

So I read and re-read all the responses here (including ffan's extremely helpful APA article) and I agree with them all.  Speaking of ffan's APA article: my problem is more of a 'polar bear vs. grizzly bear' problem.  If you hear what I'm saying.

So anyway, I've been thinking about what kind of crummy RPer would I be if (to use Sage's example) I couldn't enjoy Game of Thrones any more because I found out that George R.R. Martin doesn't exactly look like Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (the actor that plays Jaime Lannister).  That'd be ridiculous, right?  I figured I just needed time to adjust.

Sooo ... I got together with him pink elephant! last night ... and my plan was to gently tell him that I needed a pink elephant! temporary break ... but before I could do that ... we started messing around and ... I think I'm going to be okay.  The pink elephant!s are coming farther apart already.

Like RobT said: real life shatters the fantasy.  And my partner is the exact same ... ermm ... 'wood elf' ... as always.  (How did you know, Allie?!?!?!)

    Thanks again, everyone!
