What a nonsense comment to make, if it was free people would only use it to play there instead of the live server, not give feedback and help improve it for release.
So if you find it that bad to pay for a product, you can go elsewhere.

I dunno, I am not game developer myself. Are you?
If we believe Xaufin's words it can take up to several months if things not going smoothly and they obviously has some theory and practice to back up these words, and I have an internet friend who works with Unity and I heard something close to that info from him as well when I was asking questions. So I kinda see no reason not to believe this information.
Depression is a big word. We are talking about game. Yeah, a game that makes people emotionally involved a lot, but still a game. If someone really getting depressed because of lack of update in a game they clearly should check their life priorities. But I sure can understand that people feeling some negative emotions about it, I am a little frustrated myself, not gonna lie.
Though I don't really understand what you expect from devs here. They have a business partner. They most probably have some kind of a contract with their partner, that involves some kind of obligations and responsibilities. What do you expect from 3dxchat's team? Tell Lovense "Hey guys, we know that we have a contract and stuff but we will not post advertisement because people on our forum feeling depressed about lack of update, so we will not be posting anything till update released!"
I mean... It does not really work like this.

I'm unclear about what was said about new Unity engine. But I work professionally in Unity, so I'll give some clarification on what could be happening.
Updating to a newer version of Unity Engine means going from 2019.4.1f1 to 2021.1.5f1 (for example). This is done essentially by two steps:
    1. Clicking Yes to a popup that says Update your project to 20xx.x.x?
    2. Clicking Yes to another popup that says This could break your entire project. Are you sure?
This type of upgrade takes a few minutes and 50% of the time will not break anything if it was from, say, version 45 to 46. But if you skip dozens of versions, as live operating games unfortunately have to do, there is a much greater chance that things will break.
Step 3. Fix all the things that broke, which could take weeks or months.
What they could have meant by new version is changing the rendering pipeline. Unity has three rendering options:
Built-in / Traditional: Unity's standard rendering they've had for many years. (3DX uses this) URP (Universal Render Pipeline): best for work across many platforms, including mobile. (since 2018) HDRP (High Definition Render Pipeline): For photoreal AAA graphics, basically 95% or greater of what Unreal Engine would provide (since 2018) Updating to these pipelines would guarantee that all art assets are broken and need to be remade or adapted, possibly as easy as assigning new shaders, maybe much more complicated. Again, this would take weeks or months.
I hope Gizmo will clarify which type of Engine change is happening. A render pipeline upgrade is not necessary to provide better graphics, and 3DX uses far too much CPU/GPU for being on the Built-in pipeline anyway, so ideally optimization happens before then.
This thread is the most communication I've ever seen from Gizmo, so it was a great start. Hoping to hear more.
Given the number of players in 3DX, there is at least enough money for 2 or 3 people to work full-time, unless they owe some investors like 80% of their revenue. So I do hope full-time is what's being worked.

EDIT: They may also be doing both migration to a newer version and a newer render pipeline, which could take twice as much time.

@GizmoCan you possibly make it so light does not shine through solid objects?
For example, You make a Flat wall and put a light source against it, it shows through the other side.
I am not sure if you can fix this, but it is an annoying thing especially if you run dynamic lights on the second floor of the structure and it shines through to the lower floor.
Thank you for all your team for the great new stuff coming up.

local light cast shadows just like in Saloon would finally improve the flat look of the game. Will it happen in the updated engine? It upgrades visuals far more than it's obvious at first

I don't think you should speak for the 99% of players and use "we" instead of "I".
The survey was independent and open to all. We received a large number of different opinions and would like to highlight the most desired ones.
I would also like to ask all participants to maintain a respectful tone in their comments.

Well I mean let's be on a really realistic note here. How many people are working on 3DXChat? Because their staff directory says there's only 4 members in the whole team. If it's just Gizmo and one or two other people working on the game, why is everyone drilling them for updates. Working on a game is hard, it's not just slapping crap together and hoping it works. They literally just announced updating the Unity engine to a more modern version. That's called progress.

In the end, this is GIZMO'S game. Not yours, not Rand's, not Ferdinand Jone's, and not Joe Biden's. Gizmo gets the final say of what he wants to put in.
He's choosing what he wants to put in first based on what he can do now. It's a small team and patience can be a helpful thing. So what if he adds something on a whim that he wanted to add just because he saw an opportunity. Who Tf cares? Let him make his game the way he can and the way he wants. He's giving us progress updates along the way, that's enough for me, and should be enough for everyone else.

I will not comment on the pose editor at this time. The time has not yet come.
I understand what you mean by "there was a new clothing system, with for instance adjustable length of pants". Our research on this system has been put on hold due to higher priorities. We may revisit the idea later. But there is no development in that direction at the moment.
Thank you for your questions. I am happy to answer them.
The migration to the new version of the Unity engine is almost complete. As I said, some systems were broken due to incompatibilities, and we had to fix everything. The beer-drinking system was utterly broken, and we could either remove it from the game entirely or rebuild it from scratch. We chose the latter and rebuilt the system from scratch, improving and expanding it considerably. It is much closer to our original idea of a food and drink system in the game. The top 3 features that players are asking for are "Additional Sex Poses", "Avatar setting improvements", "Additional Clothes". We plan to add all of these as we develop. We will happily share the survey results with the community as soon as all the results have been finalized. NoirDesire, as the organizer of this independent survey, is kindly helping us to process the results. We appreciate and thank her for her help. So let's be patient and respect her work and time. As soon as the results are ready, we will publish them.
Our initiative was to set up a food and drink consumption system. As the authors and owners of the 3DXChat project, we wanted to add such mechanics to the game. We hope this new mechanic will be to the liking of most players. I would like to mention the players' idea to have the deducted funds from buying food and drinks go to the host room account. It's an exciting idea, and we'll probably revisit it. The top 3 bugs are "Sync Bug", "Naked/Bald Avatar", "Disconnections"
Also, about 90% of the bugs are related to the networking part of the codebase. We have a lot of work to do on refactoring and improving the network part. This will allow us to get rid of 90% of the bugs. We are planning to switch all clothes to the new material system. It will take some time to do this.
Why did we decide to move to a new version of the Unity engine first? First of all, the current 2018 version of the engine is already outdated. Secondly, we want to develop the game using all the new engine's features. Finally, Unity has fixed many bugs and optimized the engine. Players will be able to use a more stable client while we work on the network bugs.
The transition to the new Unity is a necessary step and an essential preparation for the next significant bug-fixing effort.

As a builder, this update is huge and so exciting! As for the bug/fixes that many have mentioned in this thread.... Read Gizmo's post, do not just look at the pictures!
I personally would HATE to see a "who is in the room list". One of the things I loved about 3dx was my privacy here. If I want to be found, all I have to do is open to friends only. I do not want stalkers! I came from another Virtual World that allowed you to ignore but could find you in those room lists. They also could see and hear you. I would hate for that to happen here.
This UPDATE 1 post from Gizmo is just that. That means there are more to come. Before we judge what is or isn't being done. Let's wait and see.
