  1. And this is the problem. Please understand that sex is not just an act of physical pleasure to men. It is also about knowing that you are desired for who you are and not for what you gifted to the partner.
  2. Exactly. It's not about judging whether prostitution is right or wrong, it is about how it might change the character of the game and make it harder for some men to find a partner without xgold being involved. That would be such a shame, and I don't think worth taking the risk of potentially ruining the game for many.
  3. Nothing you said reassured me but I stand by my opinion, and welcome yours. After all, they are all just opinions.
  4. My gut feel is that this is a really bad thing, and risks driving many male members away from 3DX if sex becomes largely a commodity to be traded. I know I would hate 3DX to become like that, not because I am "cheap" but because for me and I suspect many other men, a 3DX sexual encounter is an opportunity to be valued for who I am (and for me to do the same for my partner) and not for what money or gift I have contributed. Having a marketplace in which xgold can be transferred for different purposes and can be be used in exchange for sex would for certain dramatically increase the motivation to try to profit from sex.
  5. I am also of working class background, made more apparent from researching my family history recently. For 150 years my family members lived in squalor in the worst slums in London, and pushed barrows at Smithfields meat market. In fact I am the first generation to be born away from that environment. I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunities for a different life and recognise how my grandfather and father made that possible. I joke about myself being middle class and I do enjoy and aspire for the good things in life...but I never really lose sight of where I came from and how lucky I am. To me being middle class really means saying thanks to my family for giving me the opportunities to make it possible. I might have a life, income and comforts now that would classify me as middle class but I still have to work for it. Someone I used to work with used to say there is no such thing as middle class really. There is working class and privileged class. I think there is truth in that.
  6. I'm happy to agree to disagree, and to hold my own opinions, and to value others' entitlement to theirs. I've said my piece, and will now withdraw.
  7. It clearly isn't a reminder. It is a poll asking if people agree with the rule and actions taken against threads that contravene a rule, and much of the discussion that follows, including my own contribution is apparently against the rules. Fair enough. As MeiLing has pointed out, it all contravenes rule 2.10.
  8. How is a poll a reminder? That would have been via a reference to the rules. A poll is asking people if they agree with one of the rules and implicitely therefore the action taken to remove one of threads that contravened the rules. If we have a rule then I agree it should be enforced, now I am aware of it. But at the same time if I see a post that seems to be factually incorrect in an attempt to support a particular argument, then I am going to feel inclined to call it out in the interests of truth and balance.
  9. Mainstream and local newspapers alike have traditionally carried a "Births, Deaths and Marriages" announcement section for virtually as long as newspapers have existed.
  10. In that case this whole poll/thread should be deleted.
  11. When someone dies it is usual and comforting to celebrate their life (not their death). Invitations to funerals often include the words "...celebrate the life of...". It is factually incorrect to say that in real life funerals are by invitation only, although there may be different precedents in different countries or cultures. Funerals are usually open affairs unless the family specifically request that it should be by invitation only. Admittedly we are unlikely to know what the family's wishes are for our 3dx members, but even in cases when funerals are private it is usually acceptable for non-invitees to make their own arrangements to celebrate the life of the deceased and pay their tributes. The funerals I have been to have all been attended by ex. colleagues, neighbours and other associates (e.g. shop keepers) of the deceased that the family could not possibly all know personally to send invites to. It is one reason why death and funeral announcements are traditionally made in newspapers. The forum here is like our community's newspaper (imho). https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.yours.co.uk/relationships/bereavement/articles/your-funeral-etiquette-questions-answered%3fformat=amp
  12. For the record, when I die (hopefully not for a while yet!), I would like an announcement and for friends in this community to be able to express their feelings. It seems that won't be possible now though. I think that's a shame because friendships and value of each other can be real and can be strong regardless of the medium through which we meet. I didn't know the person that was the subject of the recent announcement, but I read the thread and I thought the tributes from those that knew him were heartfelt and a fitting way to express feelings of loss and an appreciation of the person. It seemed to me that such an announcement about a popular community character within the community that he chose to spend his time and from the friends that he chose to make was entirely appropriate. I can't speak about fake announcements because I can honestly say that after several years of regularly visiting this forum, I can't ever remember seeing any. If I did I must have quietly dismissed them as fake and forgotten them, so I wasn't aware of there being a problem. I am saddened for the friends of the community DJ that was the subject of the recent announcement that their tributes and expressions of loss have been deleted.
  13. I really dislike M&S personally. The most over packaged and over hyped food. Luckily my gardener grows lovely fruit and vegetables on the estate, my next door neighbour's lamb and eggs are fantastic, the free range chickens and pork from another neighbour are delicious and we have a superb local artisan baker that supplies our bread. The problem with supermarket food is that it is ALL inferior. Middle class means striving for exclusivity and pretending to be something that you are not. (For example...for gardener read my wife, and for estate read my garden.)
  14. Thank you. I will pass the recipe on to my chef. Translation from middle class to working class: "Cheers mate. I'll tell me missus."
  15. Shopping at Tesco Metro Shopping at Tesco Metro rather than a Little Waitrose or an M&S Simply Food? Oh no, no, no. Not middle class at all! The very thought is making my skin crawl.
  16. I have also had ongoing problems with freezing then crashing using the 64bit version. When I look at the task manager, the memory and cpu usage look fine, but the power usage against 3dxchat.exe can be incredibly high (95%). I figure this is the cause of the extreme heat that 3dxchat 64bit seem to cause my laptop (parts of the laptop are getting burning hot and the fan is running high) and so I assume it is probably the heat that is leading to the crashes. I understand that heat management is going to be dependant on the specifics of any particular machine's architecture, and so overheating and crashes may not be experienced by everyone...but is it right that 3dxchat power usage should be so high? I wouldn't really expect 3dxchat should cause so much heat considering I have top end gaming Alienware laptop (specs a few posts above). The problem seems far worse with the 64 bit version than when I was using the 32 bit version.
  17. A Haiku Ode to the Earbud Mid the ears of one An immersive world of joy Everyone else...pain.
  18. A soundtrack to a film/drama, etc...that turns good onto great.
  19. I was in a room earlier, it kept freezing. All sound and interface would just stop, leaving a frozen image, and waiting for it to recover didn't resolve it. If I then opened a different app like Chrome, then at that point 3dxchat would close. Also, a couple of days ago I had 3dxchat open and discord. when trying to text chat on discord, the typing would keep freezing as I typed...until I closed 3dxchat. I am surprised to see both these problems considering the laptop spec I have. Processor Intelยฎ Core i7-7820HK CPU @ 2.90GHz, 2901 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)RAM 32.0 GBNVIDIA GeForce GTX 10802 x 1TB SSD drives1 x 1TB SATA drive
  20. Two hours after my last post I was sitting in the RHS gardens at Wisley in Surrey, eating this... Now THAT'S middle class! (and that's also Devonshire style, although the cream was pure Kernowek (Cornish) Roddas).
  21. I do indeed prescribe to the Devonshire style of mid-afternoon tea perfection...scone, cream, then jam! Now I'm off to slice my local artisan sourdough loaf...
  22. Boil?!!! Good grief no! You betrayed your working class origins. Cook on a ridged iron griddle, with a pinch of Pink Himalayan Rock Salt, and then serve with a knob of Cornish hand pressed butter.
