I think I take a risk opening my new diary so soon.. I would prefer my diary to be filled up with good things, positive experiences in 3dxChat. I will post an image of the Dalai Lama to encourage. I am well aware that serious and emotive issues will appear occassionally. I want those issues to be discussed calmly, intelligently and with respect to all parties. When it comes to the 'he did it first', 'no she did' altercations I think everybody knows who started it. Everybody knows it was started a long time ago. Everybody knows that the person who started it is intent on promoting attitudes that are not supported by most people in the world in 2019.
 
I think the deliberate confrontation has to stop now. If people abide by the rules we will all get along just fime.
 
It is obvious that Gizmo is very unlikely to change the moderation of the forums. I think it is important that the we forum users show we can moderate ourselves. Seriously what do you think newcomers think of it all?

If I had to choose friends or sex I would choose friends. I think I try to say that I have met many good people in 3dxChat. Since I came back in to the game I have not met anybody I am sexually attracted to. I would like this to happen. I am not going to seek it out. I think that if you accept that it can happen it is more likely to happen. I do not think it is something you can find or conjure up. I think it happens spontaneously when you meet the right person.

I was intending to let this diary go and start again. I have read through it all again and changed my mind. I think it is important to keep a record of how things were once. My intent with the diary was to try and show that it is possible to do better, The forum is improved a lot in the last few weeks. I am glad of that. I want to reply to Mar_Mohan. She has missed my point. I do realise that I do not have any control over who posts here. What I was asking for was for people to to show each other respect when they do. That is why I say it is not too much to ask. I would like this thread to be a beacon to show how the forums could be if people want it. I want it to be a positive diary. I want it to be a brave diary too, that does not avoid controversy. Where difficult topics are discussed with respect, intelligence and consideration for others. I would like humour as well, teasing is OK, no. Bullying and trolling will be reported. I think this is what was intended when the user diaries were created.

I want to use my last planned post from my old diary as the first of my new. I am glad Gizmo has locked my old. Thank you, Gizmo.
 
3dxChat is a sex game, as well as it’s other aspects which I think are as important, possibly more. That does not mean I will have sex with anybody or that I want sex at any time. The person who decides who I have sex with, when I have sex and what sex I do is me. Nobody else. The same can be said for other things, that the person who decides what happens to my avatar is me. I do not expect anyone to agree, although I expect most people will, at least a bit. What I do expect is for my opinion to be respected.

You understand why, no? I think there is a risk I will be bullied in game if the forum bullies identify me.

Am I being a bit thick here? Would you care to quote the baiting posts you are complaining about? I couldn’t see any, so maybe I was looking in the wrong places.
 
In any case that’s not actually the issue, although it connects well to the main point. Troll posts and baiting posts will, almost certainly, be deleted by the thread owner when user moderation comes in. Problem solved, imho.
 
Troll and baiting threads can be reported, directly to Gizmo in the absence of any moderators, and dealt with as he sees appropriate. Also problem solved.
 
To close, I thought that part of Vaughan’s intention was to try and draw a line under the recent argie bargie and to move on. Of course he also wanted to separate this set of issues from all the other stuff being talked about in the developments thread.

He apologise too. I think that moderation of own thread must happen very soon. There is no other tool available to reduce bullying and trolling.
 

I want to start this post by saying that in an ideal world proper independant and professional moderation is the optimum. Gizmo has decided he doesn't want to have to pay for this because, I assume, it is too expensive. I gather that until now he has relied on people from the game, with all the problems associated with that. Then, more recently, he has given up on any moderation whatsoever other than that he can do himself.

I'll quote part of the most commonly quoted rule, 2.02. This provides a good starting point for discussing any behaviour.

"The idea behind this is to prevent any player from consistently being uncomfortable on the forums." If any behaviour causes anybody to feel uncomfortable on the forums then it is breaking this rule. Particularly so if it is intentional. 
The abuse of women, gays, trans or any minority is not aceptable under any circumstances and breaks this rule. Neither is it funny to abuse women, gays, trans or any minority. I don't think anybody can disagree with that. Both examples break this rule because it makes women, gays, trans or any minorities abused feel uncomfortable about using the forums.
 
The behaviour we have seen recently can only be classed as abuse, in any case posts promoting violence against women, insults, lies etc all break this rule by making people feel uncomfortable about using the forums.
 
This thread, and the related section of the other thread, is about what can be done to reduce this rule breaking in the absence of any moderation. The proposal is that thread openers should be able to moderate their own threads. This could work, this has been gone in to and has been shown to be a solution Gizmo favours, is a pratcial proposition in terms of the software and is workable in terms of the level of responsibility on the thread opener. The vast majority of thread openers will take their responsibility sensibly, in my opinion.
 
The suggestion will not affect people who participate in discussions sensibly, their post will stay in the thread, be read, mulled over and replied to. It won't affect people who inject a little humour in to what could be rather dry topics. Who doesn't like a bit of humour, providing it doesn't break the rules or derail the thread. The only people it will affect adversly are the trolls/bullies whose posts will be deleted as soon as the thread opener logs on again. The only places remaining for trolling and bullying will be those opened by trolls for trolling, or those people who tolerate them. If things get out of hand then, judging by recent experience, Gizmo will act as effectively as he sees fit once he has been informed.
 
All in all what's not to like, given that professional moderation is probably not going to happen.

I think game has improved much since I first joined. I also love the rooms people have made. I hope that the social side of the game will improve and more people join and stay. When that happens I think Gizmo will be more strong in development.

I too like the idea of being able moderate your own threads. I think the majority of people would do it well, because most people welcome discussion. A civilly presented case against one’s own is informative and stimulating. Humour is also welcome to lighten the mood. Rudeness, insults and abuse would, I suggest, be the first things to be deleted, to the benefit of the thread, and the forum as a whole.

I take it that it would only be a matter of changing settings which wouldn't involve a lot of work for him to do.
If so wouldn't it be a good idea to at least try it and see if it does make a difference.
 
Also I had sent a message to Gizmo about this exact thing and he did reply.
I was a little reluctant to post this as I am not sure if he would like his replies posted, but I will do for 2 reasons.
The 1st being it shows a positive look at how he is viewing the idea and also I would like to let people know that Gizmo does often respond to peoples messages.
 

They trolls say they leave the fight, but no. they come back and continue. They choose this, they decide their own actions, no?

3DXChat has taken action against some members for inappropriate posts. They are showing as no longer active.

I hope that things can settle and Forum becomes a pleasant place to visit again without falling into disarray.
 
We should all still work together though to help eliminate unacceptable behaviour from the topics.

If you mean trying moderators from the game, as in this last one who just quit.
The problem there is they have idiot friends like you who feel because they are a friend they can get away with anything.
What then happens is they have so much pressure put on them to do something about idiot friends like you, that it gets to a point where they have to either ban you or quit.
In this case he obviously decided to quit.

You muddy water. Did you say you are a ‘REAL DJ, REAL woman, REAL victim’? Answer that question and stop quoting rules.
