Lets talk about gender of a role player for a moment: Here's the thing about gender - Unless you plan to hook up with the person behind the character in a real life face to face setting? Their race, gender, age difference, social status, looks, pretty much anything aside from how well they can type.... Simply DO NOT MATTER. Until a player starts leading on another player through some kind of real life type interface (voice and camera) their gender DOES NOT MATTER. It's fucking text. Text has NO gender. Men and Women can both type the same kinds of words. A character isn't "fake" if their player is a different gender. Just like a character isn't "fake" if the player behind the character isn't the same age, race, looks or social status of the character they are playing. Players have the right to play their characters any way they choose and as role players they have the right to not be expected to portray their character simply as an approximation of their real life selves. Some people really enjoy having the choice to NOT be themselves for a while. They can go to a game like this and be the entirely different person they want to be, they can put themselves in the role they choose, rather than the role they are forced to play as their real live selves and screw you if you think you have the right to tell them they are being fake when they do. For those of you who need an image to get this message to sink in.....

The gift prostitutes are a godsend, seriously. It's certainly not based on real world physics, so I can understand your hatred of it, but for us whacky role players? It's geeking out awesome. The new dances are wonderful! If you add someone to your Blacklist who isn't in the same room as you, they end up without the M or F flag next to their name. Like, when you add someone who is being a tool in World Chat for instance.

Err... Ok... This is a world built on being disconnected from each other. We live through the eyes of our avatars. Our virtual projections of our personalities. So the idea of not being fake? Impossible. We are all fakes. Every single person playing in this world. Some people put more of themselves into their online personalities for certain, mostly those who are better writers, but you honestly think you don't filter yourself? What we are seeing is the virtual projection of how people want to be seen. This is a world full of presented images and presented personalities. You are who you want to be, not who you are. The person you are? Is sitting at a computer typing and driving a projection. You want real? It takes more than telling another virtual projection what your true age, hobbies, personal details, gender, location etc are. You need to be sitting next to that person sitting eye to eye. You need to smell that person, see their body language. Hear the tremble in a voice or the twitch of an eye. The light touches of her flirting. The stiff way he gallantly offers to push your chair in. The only way you can be is online.... Until you boldly choose to do more than hide behind that projection and let yourself be seen unfiltered. Do I want to meet people in real life? Fuck no. You all scare the shit out of me because you'll see the fragile person hiding behind the projection and I'll have no screen to hide behind.

I have done character weddings in many games some games let you change your last name to match some let your profile have a special spouse line. the coolest game wedding I had was in star wars galaxies... the game staff added a bunch of temporary decorations for us. Anything more than that would be too much in my opinion. I think you would see people getting married just to get last names and things.
