That was an awesome post Alice. I can relate, to some extent, to a few of your points. I think alot of people will relate to it. People that had a similar approach to the game as you and, I must admit, myself. I think approaching this "game" as such is the biggest mistake anyone can do. Sooner or later, It will sneak up on you, grab you emotionally and psychologically and then, without being melodramatic, try to, and sometimes succeed, hurt you as much as you're invested in it. I like when you said you tried to keep everyone at a distance. I tried to do the same but, this game preys on our feelings/needs, I have/had one of the biggest armor to protect myself when I play but obviously my brain and heart are/were looking for something and I knew/hoped that someday someone would find that little opening in my armor. I knew that one day, that person, the one cracking wide open this armor, would be THE one and I'm glad she found me. All this to say that, this "game" attacks our senses as much as we let it, on various levels which are proprietary to each individual. Yikes! Tough question. Stirring ALOT of emotions .. A soul for me is : The sum of my lifetime experiences. Experiences that might be good or bad, experiences that shaped my personality, shaped my being, shaped how i love, care and live my life. All this ignoring religion, sex and sexual preferences, color, race, gender. Also ignore what society wants me to believe in because THEY think it's innapropriate. I have a mind, i can use it, i know how to use it .. I can make my own decisions if i like something or not. I dont need a neigbor telling me i shouldn't like this or not, i'll educate myself if i dont know about something and ill make my own mind up.. Society will not influence it. Hi, Great topic thread. Thank you for starting it. I can't say that i've been on for long, i'm going on my 4th month. So, i lack the experience others might have.. BUT .. this thread could apply to ANY other online gaming community as well. In my view the company that runs the game feeds on alot of basics(and some not so basics) instincts any human needs. I don't mean this in a negative way mind you, it's a great business model. Sex sells. Always has, always will. But having a social life, a sex life, the feeling of not being alone, the feeling of being loved, the feeling of being cared for, the feeling of caring for someone, the excitements, the deceptions. Well, for some people, that can only be provided, for whatever their reason, in a virtual environnent like this. And you know what, i'm ok and fine with the fact a company exploits this.. I wish I had thought about it. Their initial intent was surely not to help those people but if we bottom line it .. it does help a certain part of the human population, ok lets go a little less dramatic here.. it helps a certain part of the 3dx population. I find what I want in this game, and sometimes more .. or less. And im sure some people find this plateform a safeheaven, a way to communicate, a way to have a social life and/or sex life they maybe wouldn`t be gettin in RL. But back to you initial comments.. I think i went a bit larger on my reply. Am I addicted ? Yes and no, as mentionned in one of the replies balance is the key. Am I ashamed of whatever i do in here ? How much time I spend ? No, it's MY choice, and so far that choice hasn't change anything in my social activities or sex life .. i consider it more as an .. extension to it. Great thread you started there.
