  1. Many of the suggestions that are controversial that some of the people in this thread have brought up though as solutions to their issues have not been popular when they were put to a poll in this forum, and I am sure would have been even less popular if the poll have been of the game's general population, so are they really things most people want? I am not convinced that 3DX has such a small slice of the potential market to begin with I have looked at other worlds most do not seem more active then 3DX, and they all do not have a monthly subscription like 3DX has. Also, 3DX is growing its user base. It has had like a 15% growth rate in the last year or so which sounds like a lot to me for a five year old game, so they must be doing something right. The way to get more females into the game seem to me to be to do things that would get more females to join. Stuff like changing the advertising would be a start. However, the games that seem to have the most females in them all allow prostitution for real money, and I don't think that would be good for the community, but it would get more females into the game. Personally I think 3DX has the best community of any of those games as it is I am not sure its a good idea to change things to much.
  2. I think the truth is that small changes to the game like changing how the ignore system, or even going to a single avi setup, or something wont actually change who plays the game. I get that some people want to think that if just this, or that changed the game would be totally different, but its simply not the case. Unless they can change who is joining the game any attempt to try to engineer some type of social change inside it is just bound to fail. The devs have their own vision for 3DX which might be a bit different then mine, or what I think 3DX could be. I don't remember anyone suggesting the changes they ended up making. What I have seen is that if they take someones idea they generally implement it in the next patch. I don't think that anyone can dispute that 3DX is successful as a sex game it clearly is one of the more popular ones, and its amazing it has the community it does based on what it is, but I think that the devs have decided not to try to compete with social games, and that makes sense they really can't. I think that right now there isn't a social game that allows adult stuff, and has good graphics. 3DX has managed to get some of the people looking for that, but that just isn't what 3DX is. It is just not setup with a lot of the things a good social game needs. 3DX is basically a bare shell if you take away the sex part there basically isn't anything there that can compare with plenty of social games, some of which I might add are basically completely empty of people.
  3. Well I didn't think about testing the ignore when I was testing it. I wasn't on to long, but I did try the name/gender change it cost 20,000 xgold, and lets you change one or both at the sametime. You keep your friends list, and gifts as well. I think in the case of the name/gender change at least it keeps the same id, so it really is just want it says it is at the price, and what it does I don't think it will be abused much. I don't think its clear though if making a new alt will give a new id, and that might be something they can change it should be easy enough to test though if the test server comes back, but I have a feeling it might not, and if it does likely not for long. Lots of people pay month to month, and they only need the test server up for short periods.
  4. My experience with opening rooms is that once you get ten people in them they tend to fill up a lot easier. I think that a lot of the popular DJ's and room owners do that or have friends who have a number of accounts in order to get the room started otherwise it might take an hour or more before enough people join. Its way worse since they changed how rooms are bumped now that it cost 300 gold and you drop to the bottom of the list. I know of a number of DJ's and room owners who I have heard have 6~10 accounts so it cant be that rare. I think that for some people being a popular DJ or room owner matters a lot and yes its shady. I cant see any other reason for have a large number of accounts active at the same time.
  5. As far as multiple accounts go I think they might be more common then people think, but most of the people who I have heard that have them are trolls or DJ who are using them to fill their rooms. I know that is more common then some people thing. I kind of think that at the end of the day what matters is how they are using them. I am sure there are shady people who use them though and having more then a few seems shady, but I think that people who change their alts a lot are not really something I worry to much about.
  6. People keep saying trolls, and stalkers as why the full ignore system is necessary. I can see stalkers but trolls... Trolls don't try to hide they are trolls if it takes three clicks or one the difference isn't really huge. As for stalkers it happens, but its not that common. Also what some people call stalkers are really just people pming them more then they would like. Both could be avoid by making an alt that can't be found out. I don't think either of those are the real reason people want to keep the full ignore. I think Twiggy has the real reason it lets you find out who people's alts are. If the full ignore worked as it was suppose to, and just ignored an account without letting you find out the alts then a lot less people would be upset about not having it. Yes It is more useful to have account ignore and yes it could be kept with the bunch of changes possibly, but it would always let people find out if an alt belonged to someone. That makes it conceptually flawed, since it is an unintended side effect. I think that if people want a system inside the game to reveal alts then they should just say, and ask for that and not be so focused on the ignore system. There are a bunch of things I think could work better then the account ignore if someone is concerned about alts I will say I personally am not. I think a second level of friend, a single avi account option, or a consensual way to reveal alts are all both more fair and more useful for that purpose. I don't even see an issue with making alts public as long as everyone knows, but whatever is done it should be something that everyone knows about, not something hidden the way the account ignore and Pandora are.
  7. Exactly people think that the server is doing much more then it really is in 3DX. From what I have heard from people who have looked at the code is it works closer to peer to peer then client server. Its not even clear the server is involved at all in somethings, which is likely why they can't detect Pandora right now.
  8. I think that as far as moderators go it might be best if they were not part of the community, also it sounds like they just had to much power maybe all they should be able to do is boot or ban people from WC for 24 hours and if that was all they could do I think it might help.
  9. There are a few programs that do that type of thing. I think that for whatever reason the idea just never became that popular. http://northprojectz.com/3dxtest20/index.php?/topic/107-download-3dxworldpicture-world-format/ http://northprojectz.com/3dxtest20/index.php?/topic/103-download-naughty-designer-ii/ There is at least one other basic one around as well in addition to the one I made and TamaraX made. I think that it would be nice if you made it work in a bit different way then the others or had new features they don't have.
  10. Well everyone is saying that the devs are making this change because of Pandora to stop it from working so people don't have their alts outed. This might be cynical of me but at this point almost two years after it came out isn't it a bit late for that? Also, lets look at what Gizmo actually said way back when when they started working on this. Maybe they found Pandora was what was stressing the server. I mean it must be making an awful lot of request on the server maybe they are hoping this will stop that as well, but I don't really see how unless they are doing other things as well.
  11. Its sad that some people feels the need to attack others on a personal level for really no good reason. I think that Twiggy's idea combined with some type of monitoring of the server for excessive request might be all that is needed. Honestly all that might be needs is monitoring the server for excessive request maybe they can't do that though for whatever reason which seems like it must be the case.
  12. How long or how slow it would take is just something that I don't think we have any insight into you could be totally right. It seems like Pandora must update at least once a day, since it gives a last date seen for each alt. It also updates all the profile pictures and what not as well so its going through all the accounts and doing all of that at least once a day. Now I don't think that it would have to do all that just to look through all the profiles and pick the blocked ones it has access to the server so it wouldn't have to actually get all the photos and what not for each profile. I think even if it did its only increasing that it does by a factor of a few thousand and we have no idea what that really means. Its not like the Pandora devs care about how much strain they put on the server either. I think that the devs must think its possible, since otherwise they wouldn't have removed account ignore and they would know better then us. Every time people talk about Pandora they say it works of the account ignore like I just described not off the Account ID they could all be wrong but we just don't knew. Think about what would happen if the devs claimed to fix Pandora and it never stopped working. I am sure your right though that Pandora can't access other fiends list or block list but it doesn't need to.
  13. Well I think that it might be quite simple for Pandora to use the ignore feature to find which accounts are linked. All it would need is the same access to commands each player has which I assume it does have. What it would do is simply block someone and then search through all the player profiles on the server and find if any are blocked it can stop as soon as it finds two matches. Then it would know those are that accounts alts. The number of active accounts might seem large it was 6,500 or so last year its now like 7,500 I think, and inactive accounts is a much larger number. It would need to search those as well at some point or other. Still its quite possible it could do that in a few seconds for each account even if it took longer it could be a on request thing in the future if they needed to go that way... So even if it took a while at the start its likely not a impossible thing for it to do at all even if it took weeks after a while it would only need to do it for the accounts active on any given day. I am not for getting rid of account ignore I just don't see how it can be kept and they can stop Pandora. Honestly I never though they would do anything and kind of think it might have been for the best if they hadn't.
  14. I think something like this might be able to prevent Pandora from working and it might even be able to be setup so that it makes Pandora overtime corrupt itself by trying to link accounts together that are not linked. The thing is however no matter what you do account ignore is going to link alts together its simply how it has to work. For example lets say I put someone on ignore look through my friends list and see ah this other guy is now ignored too they must be both the same account. Nothing that they do can prevent that from happening its simply part of account ignore and I am not confident at all Pandora cant exploit that. Still I think getting rid of account ignore right from the start and not trying something like this first is lazy on the part of the devs.
  15. I am fairly sure that Pandora was made so people could check up on people they were in relationships with and see if they were cheating. That is what the blog says, and I think its why it was made. Its also how it was mostly used when it first came out, and despite what some people seem to think all it really can show for sure for the most part. It can be something that might be beneficial to you personally but calling it good or bad is in my opinion wrong. What is clear however is the information on it was obtained in a highly questionable manner which violates the terms of service. But whatever that is not really the problematic thing about Pandora. What is problematic is that its being used to make money and is designed to support the people who pay for it at total disregard to the community. I don't support funneling money to someone who is just going to use it to make more hacks, it also gives people in the community who make mods and the Devs themselves a bad reputation I have seen people accusing them of being behind Pandora. I kind of have mixed feelings about it but the simple fact is that I don't see how the devs could stop it without removing the account wide ignore, and in my opinion they cant really let it continue either how it is now either. There might be other things they can do as well like making alts more open I support some of those ideas. However, I kind of think a unique ID and removing account ignore had to happen. Account ignore was simply not compatible with the idea that people's alts are secret, and that is an implied feature of alts as they are setup now. If alts were not intending to be that way it needs to be part of the game and known to everyone otherwise its just going to cause drama.
  16. I just talked with someone and had this really awful realization... We have gone through this before with test servers that became the real server. I really hope that the plan isn't to have everyone start over, and we all loss our gifts, friends list, and photo slots as a way to supposedly stop Pandora...
  17. I think your right Twiggy its basically useless for anyone who wants to keep their existing names and alts. Unless Gizmo has something else planned Pandora should be able to match up the new account ID's with the old names it might even be possible to match up gifts for all I know. Now it sounds like he might have something in mind. He did say it will include name changing though so it might be possible that people who changed their names might be able to avoid Pandora, but that is basically pointless for many of us. Over all I think it will be a lot less effective then some think, and not worth losing account ignore for. Now for a businesses point of view I think he kind of has to do something about Pandora since its not something that they can really leave how it is forever it just sounds really bad when you describe it to new people. They are always shocked that their alts are basically public information. I think that this server wont be like the the 2.0 server in that you can log on with your existing alt. I think it will be a real test server where they can test things and possible see how they work against Pandora. I think that its a good approach.
  18. Pandora stores deleted photos, and past profiles both can be personal information that shouldn't be available to anyone on 3DX after they are deleted. Some people do use their RL photos here. I almost did that when I first started, but I am glad I had the common sense to stop myself. Some people also may put things in their profiles about their lives they later regret. Its probably not that big a deal most of the time, but I have heard of people who have been stalked in RL, so it does happen just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
  19. Well I kind of think that as long as account wide ignore existed it was going to be possible to link up what alts people had, and I don't really know if moving things to the server would have changed that. Just for example if that was done it would still be possible to find out if an alt belonged to someone using the ignore system. I don't think that was an intended feature of the account wide ignore, but it was a kind of a inescapable result. So, they really only had three chooses leave things how they were, make alts more open, or give each their own ID. I kind of think for a long time they were choosing to ignore it, but a lot of trolls were starting to use Pandora to bother people. Now it may well have been better if they had just made alts more open, but if they are going to do this I hope they at least make it, so each alt has a fixed ID so people cant get around an ignore of that alt by deleting and remaking it with a new ID. At least that way you would only have to block them three times, and the account will be blocked forever. I also hope they add some moderators to WC we can contact, and make an effort to get rid of some of the long term trouble makers there aren't that many of those and it might even be profitable since it will take a number of bannings to get rid of them for good. Also, its not even clear this change will address the most intrusive part of Pandora which is the saving of profile history's.
  20. I kind of think that the best thing to do would be to simply create a couple of other globe chats say a RP one, and one for advertisements. Most of the stuff in WC is really kind of nasty, but I suppose it can be fun to watch sometimes.
  21. What a .world file really is a JSON file. You can open it with any JSON viewer and it will format the text since it is also a text file you can open with a text viewer like notepad and what not. https://www.w3schools.com/js/js_json_intro.asp What that means is 3DX did not make the file format not really all they did was add a few tags. I don't think that you can really say they have any rights to ownership of how the data in a .world file is formatted for a number of reasons including laws about compatibility. Just as example the .world format does not store objects, it only places and changes objects that are already in the game. It doesn't create new ones, which should be apparent. If you look at the .world file below of a box you can see the 5 properties that we can control, position, rotation, scale, color, and materiel. {"valuetype":"float","objects":[{"n":"group","objects":[{"n":"Box","p":[19.8382626,53.5674858,-20.0199928],"r":[270.0,0.0,0.0],"s":[1.0,1.00000119,1.00000119],"c":[4.313725559,0.043137259,0.043137259],"m":"wallpaper_16"}]}]}
  22. I personally don't think the EULA address the copyright of rooms, and Gizmo has never said that rooms don't belong to their creators. All he has said is that if you upload a room to the 3DX server it become public domain in the same way that uploading them to this forum would make them public domain. I personally think Gizmo needs to specify what rights room creators have if any in more detail and provide a licence that covers content made with the world editor. Also, before anyone says that you need the world editor to make a room you really don't. You can make a room totally by hand its not that tricky, or by using an outside tool. For example I had a half made Blender plugin that I made before the room editor came out so its quite possible to make something like that that might be even faster then the world editor to make rooms, and they would be made totally outside 3DX without using any of the in game features at all.
  23. Ah I see I don't use 3DX as a sex game either, but I also wouldn't host a room that went against my personal view, or which might move 3DX in a direction contrary to how I though it should move. I think that really everyone has a different view on what should be expected from others here personally I expect nothing and try to treat everyone how they would like to be treated.
  24. Hehee that could be a lot of the issue the interesting part which is the chat isn't really.
  25. I am not saying its a bad thing I think its a good thing for everyone to have a place here, but it just struck me as slightly hypocritical that the guy who runs a sex room 24/7 would be making a big fuse about this not being a sex game. I mean it could be a different type of room, and still be a place for the gay and bi community to meet, but it seems to be clearly setup as a sex room. I don't want to come off as offensive or be lumped in with other people though for saying that I really have no idea about any of the rest of it.
