Nerdy doubts regarding profiles

Hello everyone, I'm quite new here and after a little over a month I still couldn't understand somethings purely related to the profile(s) in general.

 

First of all, I would be curious to understand what html tags (in addition, of course, to the color, bold and italic tags) it's possible to use to customize the user profile.

I saw on other users profiles the text centered (or at least it looked like it was) and tried in vain to use the center tag. It took me a while to realize that it was possible to roughly center text by adding spaces or tabs before the text. However, I think it would be much more convenient to have the tag center available.

 

The last curiosity that I would like to be satisfied is about the purple color. I often see on some profiles the request for text "written" in this color, and although I had guessed there was a hidden meaning, I wasn't sure what it might be.

Initially I thought there might be a meaning related to the hexadecimal code used in HTML for the purple color... in short, a little like what sometimes happens with debugging magic number values in programming, but then I realized that

 couldn't have an hidden meaning, untill I found on a website the following explanation that seems quite plausible:

but now you have to explain to me how to use the color tag also in chat

Thank you very much for your reply  especially for explaining to me the meaning of the purple text in chat 

I already used the /me command in chat, with which I was already familiar having used IRC in the past, to be honest though I couldn't connect purple color with third person sentence... I imagined some sort of hidden message that might be related to the  color.

Thank you also for the tip about the profile formatting tool... very useful to enrich the profile, I will definitely bookmark it.

It was helpful for me to understand that in addition to the bold, italic and color tags, the size tag is also available and I got confirmation that tabs are used to center the text.
