With the Introduction of Mesh and Bento, along with the Huge Updates to Sims SL Avatars range from Basic to way more Detailed than 3DX depending on how far you want to Go, Secondlife as a Platform is way more Advanced than 3DX, however, 3DX is a Small Community and the Simplistic Developer Created World is Appealing. You cannot Compare the 2. Secondlife is a Multi-Million Dollar Grid Platform with a Team of Developers Updating Consistently and 3DX is a Small-Scale Sex Game. 3DX is GREAT and I Love the Platform however it is no Replacement for Secondlife.
