Adding a personal picture to a message

I tried to search to no avail.

 

How do you add a picture to a personal message on here?

I do see the option for URL, but it is a screen shot that I want to send from my own file.

 

Is there a way to change the background of a personal message? Like a stationery option?

 

And, while I am asking, how do you add thumbnails in a message? I see as a creator of this topic, I have an option, but have not noticed it before.

choose the image icon:

 

 

copy/paste the url of the pic you want to add:

 

 

alternative:

 

copy/paste the image itself

profile -> edit my profile -> profile customization -> choose background (enter url of your background)
