  1. Once the Wine-Bug is sorted out, it might be a good idea to write a post in the tutorial section for working setups. There we can also mention kinks one might experience when using Flatpak. Meanwhile, my Wine bug report has been confirmed by two developers. What saves us is actually a bug in Wine 8.1-8.3, which broke the correct initialization of TLS (Thread-Local-Storage) variables. That bug was corrected in Wine 8.4, so every version above and below those mentioned versions won't work for us anymore. So they identified a problem with TLS callbacks, which to me hints at the anti-cheat. There's no time-to-fix or solution, yet. But at least we've got the bug accepted

  3. Great to read that we have so many different systems where the solution works! I also don't use the virtual desktop anymore, but like I said I had to use the registry hack to not lose mouse focus when I tab out. I'll still file a bug report at WineHQ. Maybe there is a solution for this to keep support in current versions.
  4. It wasn't Vanilla Wine. I used a Wine-GE version and that one did not work. Then I found out about that Kron4ek repository and just tried that. Boom, worked out of the box (besides that focus issue which I fixed with the registry entry).

  6. O! M! F! G! I got it to work! Guys, what you need is VANILLA WINE 8.2 (8.3 seems to be the last version that works)! I managed to install it for LUTRIS with ProtonUp-Qt. You need to install it from the ProtonUp-Qt repository "Kron4ek Wine-Builds Vanilla" (also available inside Bottles itself). Besides the launcher, I've left all other default options for Lutris untouched. I have no idea what's different in that Wine-Version that doesn't trigger the anti-cheat. But for now, this seems to be the solution. One minor issue remains for me: Mouse Wheel and Camera Rotation don't work for me, yet. But I'm sure I'll figure something out for that as well. Camera zoom and rotation works if I start the game without virtual desktop. But then I can't tab out of the game, otherwise the UI will not respond after tabbing back into the game. Edit: Fixed the focus issue in Lutris. You need to set a registration key within the Wine-Prefix for 3DXChat: Open Regedit, e.g. with wine regedit.exe Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver, creating it if it does not exist Create a new entry named UseTakeFocus with value N I don't have any more issues running the game. I'm using Vanilla Wine 8.3 as provided by Kron4ek. Wine 8.4 and upwards do not work (Launcher starts, Game doesn't). I'm going to gather some information on this and will open a Wine bug for this. There just has to be a way to make this work on current versions. As for now: We do seem to have a functioning workaround!

  8. Wow! Thanks for the work! I'm going to try to replicate the setup on my Debian OS today and come back with how it turned out.
  9. I've tried to run with different Wine and Wine-Mono combinations. All with the same outcome: Game does not start after the launcher. I really do wonder what's different on your system. Are you running in Wayland or X? Do you have an NVidia or AMD graphics card?
  10. According to the devs Mac on ARM, Linux and everyone below Win10 are less than 1% of the userbase.
  11. I don't really think that the Steam release would help, anyways. As long as the developers (3dx and anti-cheat dev) won't put in the work, the game won't run on Wine or Proton. You can try and open a ticket to state your problem. Maybe you're lucky with your refund. I've only paid for a month in advance (and only played two weeks in total). So that's not a problem for me. I don't know, however, if others in a similar situation did get a refund.

  14. I've tried that already. Installed different .NET versions into different Wine environments, all with the same outcome: The game doesn't start. I'm on Debian Sid by the way. Kernel is 6.10.4, MESA 24.1.6, latest DXVK/VKD3D, AMD Radeon RX 5700 with open source drivers.

I'm probably at a lifetime subscription already after running through strace and the wine debugger I don't think there's a solution for this, besides the anti-cheat dev and 3DXChat devs support. After three days of endless debugging, I'm currently too burned out to open up a Wine bug for this.
  16. Could you please give us the info which .exe File your're running, including the gamefolder path the file is in? Also, what version of the game are you running? Have you applied the 450 patch?
  17. That is really interesting ... so there is at least a possible setup where the game starts. All others of us haven't gotten that far. Care to share some more info about your setup? Are you using plain Wine, Lutris, Hero Launcher? Kernel Version, DXVK and VKD3D Version? How do you "start" the game? Are you using the laucher or starting the game .exe directly? Would also be cool if you could provide us with your Wine logs.
  18. I'm using Lutris, which also has some anti-cheat support. But this specific solution is very young with an intial release in March of this year. Before the update, the game worked with the Lutris standard configuration.
  19. Regarding Wine, I'm out of ideas. I'm not a developer and the game is delivering near-to-none logs. I'm very sure it's the anti-cheat that is blocking this. And since it seems to be very niche and the developer confirmed it won't work on Windows, this does look like the end of 3DXChat on Linux/Wine to me, if none of the developers, be it 3DX or the anti-cheat, work on a solution for this.
  20. I've just done a quick-and-dirty test via QEMU/libvirt and virtio. It does run, but performance is abysmal. I don't know about your VM solution though.
  21. You can add the game to Steam as a non-Steam-game and then run it via Proton, such as any other game. I've tried but unfortunately it didn't change anything for me. Feel free to try it out for yourself, though! What's interesting is, that the launcher is writing its log to: %APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\SexGameDevil\3DXLauncher\ It doesn't have any hint to me about whata could be wrong. The actual game .exe starts, creates an empty log file in: %APPDATA%\..\LocalLow\SexGameDevil\3DXChat\ And then does nothing.
  22. I'm running 3DXChat with Lutris. What I've already tried: Disabling any interfering programs like gamemode, changing Wine versions, running in Proton or launch directly over Steam. All still have the same effect: the launcher works, game doesn't start.

  24. So a (the?) lead developer (Gizmo) just announcend in Discord that they need a detailed bug report from every single user that is having issues. I've asked if that includes unsupported setups like Linux with Wine or ARM mac. His answer was that they can only focus on Windows. So it does look like that at least Linux is out of the game from here on. Since I don't have that much to loose now: it seems like they are using this Unity plugin for anti-cheat: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/tools/utilities/warden-il2cpp-anti-cheat-273777 I haven't been able to find anything about Linux compatibility, but I've asked in their official Discord and the lead developer said that it was never tested against Linux/Wine and will probably not work.
