Lets Laugh Day:  What a sad place the world would be without laughter, and what a sorrowful day it is when someone goes the whole day without one little giggle. Well, today fixes that. It's Let's Laugh Day. It's a day to get rid of some daily stress with some good belly laughs. These are not teensy weensy laughs, but ginormous laughs that get everyone laughing together.

National Chocolate Caramel Day:    Today celebrates the blending of two sweet tooth favorites: chocolate and caramel. They make a great pair in candy bars, ice cream, brownies, and other desserts. The famous chocolate man Milton Hershey got his start as a maker of caramels. Before getting rid of his caramel factory and starting the Hershey Chocolate Company, he even made some chocolate covered caramels!

National Goof Off Day!  Today is dedicated to goofing off when something productive should be getting done. This day can be celebrated by anyone, whether they are employed somewhere, a student, a volunteer, or a retired person who neglects anything they were planning to accomplish for the day. It doesn't take much effort to be a goof-off, chances are that you are goofing off by reading this.

International Water Day:  World Water Day is an international observance that brings attention to the importance of freshwater and advocates for sustainable management of freshwater resources. It is a day for people to learn more about water issues and to take action to address them.  Ironically this falls  after  POTUS TRUMP (vomits a bit in my throat) signed a resolution reversing an Obama era rule aimed at blocking coal mining operations from dumping waste into nearby waterways.

It can be used as an adjective to refer to something mediocre or average ("It was okay."); as a verb to show approval or acceptance ("He okayed the request."); as a noun showing approval ("He put his okay on the project."); as an adverb describing how well something was done ("She did okay."); and as an interjection, or discourse marker while speaking ("Okay, now it's your turn."). The word is also popular in other languages besides English. It is believed that the word was first used in the 1830s as a slang word, particularly by those young and educated.

World Meterological Day

Near Miss Day  commemorates the time when the 4581 Asclepius asteroid had a close call with hitting earth, passing by about 425,000 miles away. This may seem like a long distance, but in space distance, it is very close and missed striking the earth by about six hours. It was closest to earth between March 22 and 23, 1989, but was not discovered until March 31, by astronomers Henry E. Holt and Norman G. Thomas at the Palomar Observatory in California.

Happy Manatee Appreciation Day.

In honor of the day, here are some fun facts about manatees:

  • They have a life span of about 60 years.
  • They are docile creatures, and have no natural enemies.
  • They like slow rivers, canals, saltwater bays, estuaries and coastal areas.
  • They are a migratory species, and inhabit Florida waters during the winters, and then move as far north as Virginia, and as far west as Texas, in the summer months.
  • The manatee only eats vegetables.
  • The most significant challenge they face today is loss of habitat.
  • There are about 3,200 manatees living in the US at this time.

It is Also.....

Mothering Sunday:  Mothering Sunday is a religious holiday that also is celebrated secularly. It is mainly celebrated in Europe by Catholic and Protestant Christians, taking place exactly three weeks before Easter, on the fourth Sunday of Lent. Originally, during the sixteenth century, it was a day when people who visit their "mother" church: the place where they were baptized, the local parish church, or the nearest cathedral—the mother church of all area parish churches. Eventually, domestic servants were given the day off to visit their mother church and their families. Children would pick up flowers on their way to church to either put in the church or give to their mothers.
