Poetry & Prose. All Kinds

Recommended Posts

There is a lovely Haiku thread here but I wanted to open up our poetry to more than set stanza Haiku. I hope you all will share your poetry here. Two requests however. Share your own work., (or noteworthy poetry with credit given to the author,) And DO NOT bash any others poetry or ideas. Be upbeat and supportive here. Its a free form poetry place too. No rules of form other than your own creativity and feelings. I hope to see people here posting. We have amazing talent in this place.!!

This is not my own work. It's by Anthony Dowson but far too beautiful and poignent not too share.

In memory of my Da who recently passed.  RIP.

Remember Me.

© Anthony Dowson

Speak of me as you have always done.

Remember the good times, laughter, and fun.

Share the happy memories we've made.

Do not let them wither or fade.

I'll be with you in the summer's sun

And when the winter's chill has come.

I'll be the voice that whispers in the breeze.

I'm peaceful now, put your mind at ease.

I've rested my eyes and gone to sleep,

But memories we've shared are yours to keep.

Sometimes our final days may be a test,

But remember me when I was at my best.

Although things may not be the same,

Don't be afraid to use my name.

Let your sorrow last for just a while.

Comfort each other and try to smile.

I've lived a life filled with joy and fun.

Live on now, make me proud of what you'll become.

Online Friends

There's a land where I go when I need to share
That's not on a map, yet exists everywhere.
There's names without faces, a curious place
A modern creation that's called cyber-space
There is all sorts of people with cute little names
Like Pookie, and Sandman and Rosebud and Flames.
Some are just snobs and some are real fun
And some of them just want to find someone.
The good and the bad ones, they all play a role.
Still each one unique, but part of the whole.
We talk and we laugh and wonder "Why?".
We giggle, we hug, and sometimes we cry.
We can not be heard and can not be seen.
Yet, there it all is, right there on our screen.
But look deeper still -- the most curious part
Is the power it has to open our heart.
To share with a stranger those things we've concealed,
Which to our closest of friends we'd never reveal.
Our deepest regrets and most troubling fears
The scars in our life which bring us to tears.
What gives them the power to reach into me
And show me the truths that I never see.
This must have been planned by a god from above.
There's no place on earth giving this type of love.
When we need some direction we know we can find
A friendship to nurture just waiting online.

For the Fallen

With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,

England mourns for her dead across the sea.

Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,

Fallen in the cause of the free.

Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal

Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,

There is music in the midst of desolation

And a glory that shines upon our tears.

They went with songs to the battle, they were young,

Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.

They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;

They fell with their faces to the foe.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;

They sit no more at familiar tables of home;

They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;

They sleep beyond England's foam.

But where our desires are and our hopes profound,

Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,

To the innermost heart of their own land they are known

As the stars are known to the Night;

As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,

Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;

As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,

To the end, to the end, they remain.

                                                                                                                              Model in Pearls

With ropes of pearls, he dressed me in

Hanging in cascaded beauty

Each incandescent rounded globe

Doing its sacred Duty

Setting aglow the naked flesh

Ripe with artful viewing

The Man standing near appreciating

Soon he would be pursuing

But for now his eyes were caught

Viewing through camera's lens

I may be his model for time being

But he wanted more than friends.

Then the angle of the tale,

was seen through his artists eye.

He saw each shape, each decorative pearl

Not one thing slipped him by.

Each gentle swell of her body's shape

Each curve of her lovely spine

The color of her almond shaped eyes

Her lips soft, and so divine

So carefully arrayed for his Photograph

Yet so much more there to be seen

Her lips, her cheeks, her lovely mouth

Her eyes such a deep emerald green.

Her long lustrous hair, soft auburn in curls

Flowing downward, a curtain of silk

Her delicate blush, upon cheeks of pale hue

Like creamy delicious honeyed milk

Her demeanor a shy, yet winsome lass

A mysterious glance his way

In that one instant, from her eyes,

It took his breathe away

"Not fully innocent, yet so shy

Her gaze, it said to me."

"This is who I am, how I am now

Naked, for the world to see."

"Yet inside my heart, my mind and soul

Is so much more than this.

A hint, a glimmer might tell much

In one sensual passionate kiss."

"I shall bide my time, sweet little lamb

Your beauty radiates true.

Its more than form, or shape or curve

That draws me straight to you.

Its something inexplicably there,

I cannot find the word.

But I shall seek what is hidden there

All silence but loudly heard."

love is not desire

nor is it lust

Love is sacred

love is a trust.

Two people connect

who am I to judge

Their souls entwine

that is enough

Lonely is this world

if we let it be

but love opens doors

between you and me

I give you my hand

but also my heart

Love is our guide

We just have to start

Love is a journey

Hardly a goal

Love is the explorer

That opens our soul

You raped more than my body, Mr Black

You raped my innocence,My Trust.

You took more than my future that day

You stole it with every thrust

You warped my point of view

You made things all seem wrong

You stalked me everywhere,No where was I safe

Not even in my dreams, your rape of me that strong

Horrors, and nightmares followed

Haunting me day and night

I did not surrender willingly

But with all that fear I could not fight

How could a nine year old child,

Understand your depth of perversion?

How could that baby girl

Find peace after your delusion?

Thats the trouble with no boundaries

You decide you can take and steal

Destroying everything in your path

The situation is real

And even though you are dead and gone

Your type haunts all of mankind

I forgave you Mr Black

Can you now quit fucking my mind?

To Her.

My Da always said to me:

“Son, find yourself a girl who’s nice and mild who’ll stay at home with my grandchild.

Once you’ve found her, hold her tight and thank your lucky stars at night!”

Now I love my Da (I cross my heart) but man, that girl’s a boring sort.

To stay at home all day and night and wait upon her Mr. Right?

No thanks, not her-

at least for me.

I want a girl who wants to see the 3dxchat world with me,

and more besides!

A girl who’s brave and never hides

her energy and passion.

Who likes to be tied up,

Kissed and teased

And made corrupt!

In short- you love me, and I love you.

While you’re a wonderful girlfriend- (it’s true)

Let’s make the plunge!

There’s no one else I want

for virtual life’s wild ride,

than you beside me

as my awesome bride!

Well I know you want a man who’s brave and bold

and strong,

Who’s handsome, with a heart of gold,

but sadly, he’s not me – or so I’m told!

I know you want a man who’s smart and wise and clever,

Who’s quick and witty, with dancing eyes-

but sadly, he’s not me – or so I’m told!

So though I’m not a perfect man  - winks -  but you know that I am!

I’m here, on bended knee.

This question now my heart demands:

BrandiWine - Will you marry me?

She makes me smile from miles away

She sends her heart just every day
She loves and laughs and plays with me
She is my love for all to see
Another year is going to begin
Kaitlyn you are my favorite sin
A resolution you'll never be
because I can't live with out you-n-me
We are US and there is no other
We are ONE for one another
Peaches, love, for all to hear
Stay with me. Be my NEW YEAR

All I have is old poems, because right now I'm either to high or in pain to write. But I need to tell her...

There's a girl I love
and it's more than just a game
She has touched my soul
and i'll never be the same

She LOVES in Big Letters
the kind that makes you feel
She tears down your walls
and makes you question what's real

She skips through my mind
and lives there through the day
Her presence is sunshine
That shoves my darkness away

Have you been in love?
Have you had a muse?
She answers those questions
but doesn't make you choose

She's amazed that I love her
I'm amazed that she loves me
She's the glorious white dove
I'm just her nesting tree

It's funny or perculiar I guess, to people who dont know or understand or not experienced it, but the online bond between people can be strong and we do grieve for their passng.

I saw this poem and it hit a cord with my Real Life losses but also with 2 online friends that I had spent good times with and have now passed on to the next world.

I remember both with a fondness that though tinged with sadness at their calling to leave us, the memories thy leave will always make me smile,

Coincidentally its both their birhdays this month of May.  A Bourbon Toast to both.  Salute!

My Memory Library  by  © Sarah Blackstone

Imagine if I was given one moment,
just a single slice of my past.
I could hold it close forever,
and that moment would always last.

I'd put the moment in a safe,
within my heart's abode.
I could open it when I wanted,
and only I would know the code.

I could choose a time of laughing,
a time of happiness and fun.
I could choose a time that tried me
through everything I've done.

I sat and thought about what moment
would always make me smile.
One that would always push me
to walk that extra mile.

If I'm feeling sad and low,
if I'm struggling with what to do,
I can go and open my little safe
and watch my moment through.

There are moments I can think of
that would lift my spirits every time.
The moments when you picked me up,
when the road was hard to climb.

For me to only pick one moment
to cherish, save and keep
is proving really difficult,
as I've gathered up a heap!

I've dug deep inside my heart,
found the safe and looked inside
There was room for lots of moments;
in fact, hundreds if I tried.

I'm building my own little library,
embedded in my heart,
for all the moments spent with you
before you had to part.

I can open it up whenever I like,
pick a moment and watch it through,
My little library acts as a promise
I'll never ever forget you.

Johnette Napolitano – Concrete Blonde

I can break your chains

Crack your cage apart

I can tear your walls down

With the beating of my heart

And if you said I have no choice

I would tell you you're a liar

I'm not afraid to chuck this

Frying pan into your fire

I'm a million miles high

I'm a piece of the sky

I'm the purple in the rainbow

Well… My, my, my

I'm like wind in your hair

I'm like the rain on the sea

Cause I'm free I'm free I'm free

You can't keep me down

Put me in “your” place

I will never wear your

20th century pacemaker face

You will never bleed

The spirit outta me

I'm flesh and blood, I'm real

I'm not your factory fantasy

Dedicated to J

Dr. John Cooper Clark - I wanna be yours.

I wanna be your vacuum cleaner

breathing in your dust

I wanna be your Ford Cortina

I will never rust

If you like your coffee hot

let me be your coffee pot

You call the shots

I wanna be yours

I wanna be your raincoat

for those frequent rainy days

I wanna be your dreamboat

when you want to sail away

Let me be your teddy bear

take me with you anywhere

I don’t care

I wanna be yours

I wanna be your electric meter

I will not run out

I wanna be the electric heater

you’ll get cold without

I wanna be your setting lotion

hold your hair in deep devotion

Deep as the deep Atlantic ocean

that’s how deep is my devotion

While replying to another thread… I am drawn down Memory Lane. Coming across a forgotten gem, needing uncovered. A post made in a similar forum long ago… picking up the torch, carrying a forgotten “cause” to the finish line.

The forum: Achat. The cause: Collars.

Leather and steel, boiled and forged

Wrapped in Love, not scorn

Submission is a gift and the giver a jewel

her heart to be cherished, not torn

Use her fiercely, love her softly

remember the power's not yours

She gives you the keys to her desire

Now you must open the doors

hmm, posting my LADY's words without permission  :o

Well, she did teach me.... early on it's

Better to ask forgiveness than permission  ;)

Hire Car - John Cooper Clarke.

Double park – don’t lock the door

Push the pedals through the floor

Give it loads and then some more

It’s a hire car baby

Grip the stick – grind the gears

Watch that distance disappear

Never yours in a thousand years

It’s a hire car baby

Hire-car, hire-car

Why would anybody buy a car?

Bang it, prang it, say ta ta

It’s a hire car baby

Bad behaviour on the street

Save yourself a couple of sheets

Collision rate keeps it sweet

It’s a hire car baby

Show this motor no respect

Bump it, dump it, call collect

What else do the firm expect

It’s a hire car baby

Drive the fucker anywhere

Just like you don’t care

Put it down to wear and tear

It’s a hire car baby

Pray the person who hired it last

Didn’t drive it quite so fast

This dakarum dodgem doesn’t last

It’s a hire car baby

Try not to kill yourself

Or injure anybody else

Don’t forget to fasten your belts

Rent it, dent it, bang it, prang it

Bump it, dump it, scorch it, torch it

Crash and burn it, don’t return it

Lost deposit, let ’em earn it

Who cares, it’s on the firm

It’s a hire car baby

One more from the great Doctor John.

It’s simply called “Twat”

Like a nightclub in the morning, you're the bitter end

Like a recently disinfected shithouse, you're clean round the bend

You give me the horrors

Too bad to be true

All of my tomorrows

Are lousy 'cause of you

You put the Shat in Shatter

Put the Pain in Spain

Your germs are splattered about

Your face is just a stain

You're certainly no raver, commonly known as a drag

Do us all a favor, here, wear this polythene bag

You're like a dose of scabies

I've got you under my skin

You make life a fairytale

People mention murder, the moment you arrive

I'd consider killing you if I thought you were alive

You've got this slippery quality

It makes me think of phlegm

And a dual personality

I hate both of them

You're bad breath, vamps disease, destruction, and decay

Please, please, please, please, take yourself away

Like a death a birthday party

You ruin all the fun

Like a sucked and spat-our Smartie

You're no use to anyone

Like the shadow of the guillotine

On a dead consumptive's face

Speaking as an outsider

What do you think of the human race?

You went to a progressive psychiatrist

He recommended suicide

Before scratching your bad name off his list

And pointing the way outside

You hear laughter breaking through, it makes you want to fart

You're heading for a breakdown

Better pull yourself apart

Your dirty name gets passed about when something goes amiss

Your attitudes are platitudes

Just make me wanna piss

What kind of creature bore you

Was it some kind of bat?

They can't find a good word for you

But I can.....

Across the bed
bound and tied
A sarcastic smile
Smirky and wide

Play me for a fool
Push my rules aside
Test MY limits…
Punishment from your Guide

Hair yanked back
Gripped so tight
Still defiance
In dungeon’s light

Open wide thighs
Target in sight
Bare hand to lips
Not caress but STRIKE

Look of shock
But then of anger
But not from me
I’m not in danger

Smack your pussy
Spank it red
Your body strains
Squirms on the bed

Swats ring out
And cries come too
Scream little slut
Till your face is blue

No pleasure
No none for you
Left in the dark
Till I say you’re through

I sing of love and laughter
Of passion so complete
I scream of joy and longing
A fire that runs so deep

She brings to me this calling
This need I never knew
This feeling that I'm falling
Deeper in love, it's true

Every day I hold her
And it never is enough
Every word I give her
Only speaks of love

I'll take her hand forever
Because she stole my heart
I'll know that she's beside me
Even when we're apart
