I want to pick up on the points raised about the ways the game is played and how Gzmo develops the game

Β

At the end of the day it all boils down to the fact that there are many different ways of playing the game. There are role players, there are people who play close to themselves, there are people who enjoy the sexual aspect more, there are people who enjoy the social aspect more. In this respect 3dxChat is a very flexible platform enabling people to interact in many different ways. Many people of many different preferences are willing to pay for the game as it is now.

Β

It would appear that 3dxChat is a failry small concern with a tiny development team. As a result it is not possible to implement more than a few of the good ideas put forward here. I also agree that it is not a good idea for any business to ignore the suggestions of any of its customers. The decision is not as simple as if it doesn't meet your needs then you should leave. The game as it stands partially meets the needs of everybody playing. Most of the suggestions I have seen do not detract from that in any way for anybody, they expand the oppportunities for everybody.

Β

In short the game is made for all users, both current and yet to be. If it cannot fulfil the needs of all users sufficiently then the user base will decline, if it can sufficiently fulfil the needs of all current users as well a yet to be users then the user base will increase. If the game remains unchanged people will eventually get bored and go elsewhere as soon as a product that fulfils their needs better appears. In business you either grow or decline, staying the same is pretty well impossible in my opinon.

Many of the suggestions that are controversial that some of the people in this thread have brought up though as solutions to their issues have not been popular when they were put to a poll in this forum, and I am sure would have been even less popular if the poll have been of the game's general population, so are they really things most people want? I am not convinced that 3DX has such a small slice of the potential market to begin with I have looked at other worlds most do not seem more active then 3DX, and they all do not have a monthly subscription like 3DX has. Also, 3DX is growing its user base. It has had like a 15% growth rate in the last year or so which sounds like a lot to me for a five year old game, so they must be doing something right. The way to get more females into the game seem to me to be to do things that would get more females to join. Stuff like changing the advertising would be a start. However, the games that seem to have the most females in them all allow prostitution for real money, and I don't think that would be good for the community, but it would get more females into the game. Personally I think 3DX has the best community of any of those games as it is I am not sure its a good idea to change things to much.

Β

I agree with virtually every opinion you express in your post, especially about changing the advertising. But I am also very curious about the source of the 15% growth rate. Where did you get this figure?

Β

It would not surprise me to learn that there are 15% more accounts than there were last year. But the real question is, are there 15% more players with a 15% increase in income or did 15 out of 100 current players simply make new accounts and abandon their old ones?Β

Β

I am seeing a lot of new players lately, but chatting with some of them leads me to believe that a lot of them are returning players, which is something that seems to happen a lot at the end the summer each year.Β

I agree Rob and honestly I kind of viewed it like that myself. I tried second life first, and only because I had read a story about how a woman had committed suicide after her relationship went bad in second life, and wanted to see if people really got that into it. I was a really sad story, but it made me wonder what it was like, and it seemed like it must be something interesting to try. Second life was a bit complicated, and just to clunky, and hard to use so I ended up trying this instead. I am sure I would not have stayed if I hadn't met Chris. I think that its possible that the number of woman who join could be increased if it was presented more the way the game really is and less focused on the sex animations, but that also might not be the case. I just don't see a business plan that has to fight how society views 3DX as a whole as being that successful.

Β

As far as the 15% goes well it turns out I was a little bit off with that. I though the number of active unique user accounts last June was 6500 and this June 7500 so that is where the 15% came from. I got the first number from the Pandora blog, but I remembered it wrong. The blog says that onΒ JuneΒ 22Β 2017 there were 6785 active uniqueΒ accounts, and am almostΒ sure the number from about the same time in 2018 when I asked someone about it was 7520. So that would be a growthΒ rate of more like 11%. Still that means that there was 11% more revenue year to year and its still a good size increaseΒ I think.

most people take issue with me calling 3dx a sex game but what you cant take issue with is society at large views this as a sex game. paypal, etc. as such the game will always have a low ceiling because those types of games are looked down at by the majority of the population. Its also why they cant advertise in the same spots you could imvu and other non sex related games.Β

Β

as far as woman go, I honestly believe a big reasonΒ  why more arent here is because a vast majority think these types of games are silly or perverted. Dont take my word for it, go out in the real world. I would be willing to bet if you met a group of women and told them about 3dx and asked if they would be interested, most if not all would look at you with disdain.Β  I say this because I dont think its this game thats stopping women from joining, its games like these that they take issue with. It has its small market but thats all it will ever be, a small market.

Β

This is just my opinion of course , feel free to disagree.Β

Β

Β

I would say it has very to do what the game it is called, but how little a real woman can be here. Most women like clothes, shoes, purses, accessories. lot's of those things.Β  Feminine things.

Β

Very little of that here.

Stormbringer, i would have liked to have quoted you, BUT as I just stated in the post in Tech. my forum is screwy and won't allow me to.

Β

You are right there are MANY ways to "play". I am in game for a reason (to socialize and release sexual tension as my health pretty much has made this my main social life. (Not saying that is bad or good and don't want pity for it is what it is.)

Β

That said, I try to stay with people who are here to "socialize" as well. People who just want to "fuck" or create drama, I watch and if they cross my line I ignore them and just move on. I find it hard to just have sex and not have some passion or caring there. I can, but it becomes robotic and I may as well have virtual partner or watch porn.

Β

Now, for the naysayers, I have been in chatrooms and games for wow longer than some here have been alive and I know firsthand that lifetime friendships spanning countries can be started, as can romantic relationships. In fact, my first chatroom was on WebTV and 4 couples got married. Last I heard, 3 of which were still married and celebrating 20 years. The other sadly, the lady died. There are people that meet in non sex games, WoW, being a BIG one, the game I played in Steam and followed a friend here from, where friendships are made and couples actually find love. Now is it rare? DUH... but so is going to a local bar every night and finding that perfect mate or true friends (you'll find drinking buddies but how "real" are they if you decide to stop drinking every night? Same with online dating, like POF, Match, Our Time, etc... chances are you spend a bunch of money trying to get to know each other and hoping they didn't lie on their profiles.

Β

My point is romance and friendships are random and can hit ANYWHERE and at ANY TIME. Places like this, I think it is almost impossible NOT to develop real life feelings for someone you have sex with nd talk to on a daily basis. You may not be "physically" together BUT being the hippy I am I believe as long as the 2 people are HONEST, COMMUNICATE and desire the same thing, a romance or at the very least a true friendship can develop. The issue is, how does one know if the other person is telling the truth? Well, if you don't trust them how can you love them? And if they are being dishonest then it's wrong and hurtful and very bad for the game, in other words people that play with other people's feelings should be called out and should have a hard time finding their next victim.

Β

All in all, it boils down to being HONEST and RESPECTING the people here and telling them what you expect or want. Is it "just a game" to you and you don't desire to have any "true" friends here? OR are you here to socialize or RP or find romance ...etc? What is YOUR purpose in being here, be honest because you may change your mind and if you played with people's feelings, you may have destroyed any future trust. Conversely, IF you took it to a level and got hurt it doesn't mean you have to shut down because of it, just means you may have to choose who you trust better.

Β

In the end, everyone pays basically the same and so everyone has the right to play how they want and for whatever reason or end they want.

yeah, most will tell you the game is dying when I think (notice I said I think) that as many are playing now as when I first joined. seems that way at least.Β

Β

I think the reason alot of people believe the game is dieing is because of the user made rooms. Most hide away in there, and lurk. I would say its a 50/50 split to the people who use this strictly as a sex game, vs those who use it as a glorified chat simulator with sex as a possibility (I include myself in that category)

I gather the game has changed quite a lot in the past five years. The World Editor being just one example that I am aware of.

Β

Yes, it has changed quit a bit, but most is under the hood.

Β

Unity 5Β  is far more efficient and uses less memory than Unity 4.Β  Sure, it isn't the sexy stuff. But what exists now would lag far more easily before the upgrade.

Β

PLUS.. a 64 bit would make better puters lag even less. Yuo can then add far more props.

Ahh, ok, thanks for clarifying. Yes, Pandora counts unique active accounts, so the increase in revenue is quite likely close to the increase in number of accounts or perhaps even more, since new players probably pay the higher monthly rate at first, whereas veterans know to wait for the half-price Xmas special.Β  LOL

I think I can quite safely say that the people who renew their subscriptions are happy enough with the game to do so. That doesn't mean that there are not aspects of the game that could be improved. Wanting something already reasonably good to improve IS NOT saying that it is bad. It is always worth making suggestions, in my opinion. It is always worth doing this quite forcibley if those suggestions do not appear to be considered. Some people have said that they think Gizmo does consider suggestions, and can quote examples. Some people consider he does not, and can also quote examples. The bottom line is that he does the best he can taking in to account the resources he has available. He would be very foolish not to make some attempt to improve the game further, however.

Β

3dxChat has evolved during it's lifetime and has become something more than just a sex game, in that respect it meets the needs of the user base well enough for them to continue paying their subscriptions. I have read that a large number of people join for a month and then leave. This suggests that their needs are not being met, the game would grow faster if they were. Is it possible, with no information other than our own impressions, to fathom why this is so? I think it is with open, honest discussion. Each and every user has a valid opinion on this, some feel strongly enough to post about it here. These opinions should be respected otherwise there can be no discussion. The aspects of the game that I would like to see improved may not tally with another person's, but over the whole user base there are a few things that appear as important. Examples being:- many people would like to see a pose editor, many people would like to see a clothes editor, some people argue strongly for the account wide ignore to continue in the new version. All these things could provide a better environment for users to do what they like doing within the game. It is, however, up to Gizmo to set the priorities, although users shouldn't feel discouraged from saying if they think he has got it wrong.

Β

Respect and consideration for others, in my opinion, is a good mantra.

I get that this is something that you heard people say, and from playing the game I have also heard it to and it seems possible, but we have numbers from Pandora, and they don't really support this idea in my opinion. Pandora says there are 41415 unique account, andΒ 7578 of those were active in the last 10 days. That means that about 18.3% of accounts (made since I think Pandora existed which is getting close to two years) have been active in the last 10 days. I think that is quite a high rate of retention especially considering based on my experience in the game that ten days of inactivity isn't really that uncommon and that many people return after that. It could easily be that 30-50% of people who make a 3DX account stay long term. I think that many of the people that don't have gifts or whatever and seem new are either really, alts, long term colders who simply are not getting gifts, people who are not keeping gifts and friends, or simply people who are returning and play now and then.

I get your point but I don’t think an 18% retention rate anything to write home about. The rate will be less than that due to multiple accounts. The converse of your point is that 82% of people who join do not stay for any length of time. To my mind this rates as β€˜could do better’ rather than A+. I still think it fair to ask what is it that the non-stayers aren’t getting. The clue could be in the aspects of the game that could be improved.
