I WILL REMOVE THE FLAG FROM MY ROOM, BUT I WANT TO LEAVE THAT CLEARLY HERE, WHAT I DO ABOUT WHOM IT SEEMS ALL THAT OTHERWISE, I SAY HATE ABOUT SLAVERY OR ANY TYPE OF DISCRIMINATION IS SOCIAL, RACIAL OR GENEROUS, I AM HERE TO HAVE FUN AND IF POSSIBLE I TRY TO MAKE PEOPLE HAVE FUN, I APOLOGIZE IF IF ANY WAY I OFFENDED SOMEONE, BUT IT WAS NOT THE INTENTION, I USED THE FLAG JUST LIKE A DECORATION IN MY ROOM OF ROCK. bia,tu sei una persona socievole, buona, simpatica, sempre pronta ad aiutare chi chiede il tuo aiuto e sopratutto molto sensibile, purtroppo il mondo, cosi come questa chat, Γ¨ pieno di idioti che inquinano l aria con la loro presenza e le stupidaggini che dicono, altrimenti non avremo il problema del buco d'ozono...le tue room sono il posto dove io e altri come me trovano piu piacere a stare, dove si incontrano belle persone come te e dove uno qualsiasi puo sentirsi a casa, quindi non considerare le cazzate che certi idioti dicono su di te,perche chi ti conosce sa che sono tutte bugie e sa quanto tu vali

Β

bia,you are a sociable person, good, nice, always ready to help those who ask for your help and above all very sensitive, unfortunately the world, as well as this chat, is full of idiots who pollute the air with their presence and the nonsense that they say, otherwise we will not have the problem of the ozone hole ... your rooms are the place where I and others like me find more pleasure to be, where you meet beautiful people like you and where any one can feel at home, so do not consider the crap that some idiots say about you, because those who know you know that they are all lies and knows how much you are worth

I will close with this.... The swastika wasn't originally made to represent evil, etc either but if you showed the thing to 100 people, I'm sure the vast majority will view it as a symbol of hate. At the end of the day, you should really know a flags or symbols history before taking the time to make it and showing it proudly in a public setting when you are bound to come across people who will be offended by it.Β

Β

But this symbol is legal in USA, you can even wear Nazi's symbol and the Nazi's flag is even protected by theΒ  1rst Amendment...so you may be puzzled if you are not a Yank. Why should non US citizen be aware of internal problems of the USA? And why do some peeps always find something to bring drama in the game? That's the true question. Is a room named "BBC for white sluts" offensive? Racist, maybe. So better to keep calm and take it easy.Β

I also find it funny you and others get offended if you are called a futa or some other silly shit yet its perfectly ok to offend an entire raceΒ

You were doing fine until you started getting personal, Rob. Stay focused.

I think it's a bit premature and unfair to label someone a racist simply because they area displaying a confederate flag. It seems pretty clear that Bia is or was not completely up to speed on the representation of the Confederate flag most likely because she does understand the full history of the United States. And I really would not expect people to have such knowledge unless they were born or grew up here in the states.

That being said... it is perfectly legal and within her rights to display this. It's also worth noting that while I don't have an opinion that she is racist, the act of displaying this flag will cause many others to formulate their own opinions.

The Confederate flag is not a symbol of music in any way. Nor was it ever intended to be. It was the battle flag for the Confederate army which went to war for many reasons. One of them being the ability to oppress an entire race of people. So digest that for what it is.

I can not say that I do not care about the opinion of others, obviously I care, and I was very upset about these accusations, but I have my conscience clear and I know well my concepts with regard to racism, which, as I said earlier abhor, I'm in the game for almost a year and I only have problems with a person here who attacks me for free always, in the others I only made good friends and true friends.

I'm not an American and know only a little of the history so i looked it up and found this that explains the issues with the flag for those that dont know...

Β

151012-confederate-flag-mn-1510_36e30b20

Β

What is the Confederate flag?

TheΒ Confederate flag – the 13-star saltire in red, white and blue – has come to be recognised as a symbol of the American South. It came into use at the time of the American Civil War, from 1861-65, which was triggered by the issue of slavery. Seven southern states rebelled over President Abraham Lincoln’s anti-slavery legislation and declared secession from the United States.

The Confederate flag was first adopted as a battle flag by the army of Northern Virginia. It was never officially adopted as representing the Confederate States of America (CSA) – also known as the Confederacy – but came to be known as a symbol of the American South.

Despite the defeat of the CSA, the Confederate flag - also known as the rebel flag, the battle flag, the Dixie flag, and Southern cross - continued to be flown. In the Second World War, Southern military units flew the flag. During the civil rights movement in the 1950s and 60s, the flag became a symbol of segregation and was adopted by the Ku Klux Klan. It has also appeared in countless popular culture references.

Β

Why is it controversial?

Supporters of the flag view it as a symbol of ancestry and heritage. To them it represents a distinct cultural tradition of the South that is very different from the rest of the United States. It is tied to the representation of states’ rights against what they see as over-bearing federal jurisdiction.

However, for many Americans, the flag is a representation of slavery, hatred and white supremacy.

Matthew Guterl, professor of Africana and American studies at Brown University, told theΒ Washington Post: β€œWhen people say 'heritage not hate,’ they are omitting the obvious, which is that that heritage is hate. When someone says it’s about history, well, that particular history is inseparable from hate, because it is about hate. It’s about racism, and it’s about slavery.”

Do more people support or oppose the flag?

A nationwide poll by the Pew Research Center in 2011 indicated that nine percent of Americans felt positive upon seeing the Confederate flag, compared to 30 per cent who said they reacted negatively and 58 per cent who felt neither way.

But among blacks, 41 per cent told Pew they reacted negatively to the sight of the flag - such is its power to invoke the memory of antebellum slavery and the decades of harsh racial segregation that followed the Civil War.

Β

Sentiments are even stronger in South Carolina, where the opening shots of the Civil War were fired in April 1861 at Fort Sumter in Charleston harbor. (The city itself was the American capital of the transatlantic slave trade, with 40 percent of enslaved Africans passing through it.)

In a 2014 poll for the State newspaper in Columbia, three out of four white South Carolina residents said the Confederate flag should keep flying outside the state house - compared to 61 per cent of blacks who wanted to see it go.

In California, since January this year, the Confederate flag cannot be displayed by state authorities, under a law initiated by a black state legislator whose mother once came across the banner for sale in a state house gift shop.

Mississippi, on the other hand, remains the only state that features the Confederate saltire on its official state flag, where it appears in the canton. An attempt to change it was soundly defeated in a 2001 referendum.

Will it be banned?

TheΒ President at the time, Barack Obama believes the Confederate flag should no longer be flown in Charleston, South Carolina, or elsewhere, but did not have authority over that decision.

Josh Earnest, the White House spokesman said Mr Obama has maintained for years that the Confederate flag "should be taken down and placed in a museum where it belongs," but recognises it's an issue for individual states.

---------------

It seems to me, that some people say the flag represents heritage and for others it represents racism and hatred.

If the American people cannot decide whatΒ  to do with the flag, I certainly cannot see us outsiders/ none Americans deciding it here or elsewhere.

And thats the massive difference between the Nazi symbol and the confederacy flag - The Nazi symbol is deemed illegal to display in Germany & France and illegal in the UK if used to incite racial hatred etc... They have alread made their decisions unlike the USA.

Until they do decide, I think people who wish to display it, as decor should be able to do so and it taken in the context it was meant. Here it was a rock room and the owner is obviously not racist and has indeed condemned that kind of sentiment.

Until the USA make the flag illegal, then individuals who wish to take offence, should not force the views on others and make someone feel guilty over something when there is no need to and their intention was not even to cause such issues.

It does seem somewhatΒ farcical, when I see the insults and nastiness flying in world chat ; or the names ofΒ  some of the rooms here...Β

And lastly, if the displaying of such a flag upsets you so, the answer is simple - dont visit the room.Β

Thanx for that Post V.

Consider this.....Racist Groups also hide behind the American Flag.

They do not represent me or my Country.

I am a member of a Civil War organization....we represent History....not racism, slavery, or white supremacy.

While the room owner may not be racist, that matters very ?????

Β

Wait, you're mistaken .. cares little for you, for me it matters a lot not to be racist, I hate it and whoever adopts this kind of attitude, you can have your opinion and respect, but please do not come and say that I do not be racist it does not matter much you are very deceived in this affirmation

I served in the military, met many people that loved their Confederate Flag, fact is Abe Lincoln and the Union fought to keep America together, while the Confederacy wanted to make it's own nation, slavery was just a straw in bundle of what was going wrong with America when it was still a young nation. To many that flag is rebellion, a way to express themselves. A racist group adopted that symbol, much like the Nazis did with the Swatzika (clock wise), from a sacred symbol of spiritual principles in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. It sucks but best thing to do is avoid if you can using existing symbols when building.Β

Bialaeticat, you did not know and many people accepted that, it is why many went to your room to have fun, because they understood.Β

However on the same principal, it is unwise to assume what a group adopted corrupts the meaning of what symbols represent. The Confederate Flag was a rebel state, much like the KKK, rock groups adopted it to represent the original meaning Rebellion. Besides in this game there are sex slaves and BBC, which does not stand for Big Butt Cheeks,Β  :rolleyes:Β  (Insert a quote of a Pot and Kettle)Β Β  :DΒ  just sayingΒ

Bia, you are clear. But just imaginate... in 3dx you can create your own flag, speccial flag of your room/of your party! Isn`t it a good idea? It more creative and interesting.Β  :)Β
USA is just one of many countries with a lot of historical moments we don`t know about. It's not your fault anyway, but it's the fault of those who attacked you. If this happened in the wc or local on public andΒ  if this was in a rude way,
then they are just complete idiots because a normal person can calmly explain their point of view. Don`t pay attention on kids and lead your party, don`t try to fight with trolls, just put them on ignore or just don`t pay attention. An adult doesn't take trolls seriously.
Have fun and be well.

Bia, if you were in game yesterday in WC you would have seen that Jimmy had actually apologized to you for thinking he called you a racist.Β  He made it clear he was speaking of the flag in your room.Β  I've seen far to much where people are told something then misread what was written due to languages or not caring.

Β

Since this game is accessed from around the world we have to make sure we follow the rules.Β  If unsure about something use Google, Bing or some other form of a search engine to check and see if it may offensive that could be against the rules.
