meilyn
EDIT: Maybe some mod would be so nice and change the topics name, please, I made a typo, sorry :/ I always liked the idea that local chat is something like "the room" in RL. So I greet when I enter, say hello. Also I love it when there is some moving there. In the last months I have the impression of long phases of absolute silent in local chats (sin club for example). If I greet, no responds. If I say "HELLLLLOOO!" and wait for the echo, nothing. May have reasons: 1st) no one likes me (^^ fishing for compliments now)2nd) I am scary 3rd) all ppl are shy4th) all ppl are unpolite5th) ... please make your own assumptions I dont think about now Well, maybe you can tell me if this is only a subjective view of myself, or if it is really silent the last months, maybe some old player - as I am - discuss also that topic? * kisses * Mei chaostika, FBSF87, tinanude and 2 others
kashara
local chats in public rooms seem to be pretty dead... i remember f.e. sin-local-chat in the past... it was quite crowded... but somehow it became deserted... sometimes there is a little bit movement in there... but not the same as in the past... seems that most players are using pm or gc... tinanude
Hmmmm, first.. sorry for my bad english. Local Chat is "the room" for me too but, first priority had my pm, then gc and at last the local, especially im busy with one or more persons i drop local. Otherwise.. a lot of people aren´t native english speaker. And i often got bad comments about my english. Ok, this will cause that i am silent or talk in my native language if others germans talk there too. meilyn
I am sorry you get bad comments about your bad english. What the people think that they are? It is very intolerant. And my english is also spread all over with grammatical mistakes, so dont be shy!Ignore those ignorants, they dont deserve more. kashara
i give a shit on those who give comments about bad language knowledges, the intention counts... even if you talk with "hand and feet"... just do it your way... and the people will understand... and if someone does not... he/she can ask what is ment. just my cents^^ MissPlaced, Girlie, chaostika and 3 others

MissPlaced
I'm a regular in Sin, and the local chat can be very hit and miss, it all depends on who is in the room. I always enter with a greeting, and will often be met with silence. Even when I start to strip, which I describe in local, it is not unusual to get no response. This doesn't stop me I'll keep going even when met in silence, as in the end I do it because I enjoy it. We all play in this world differently. I always get a little buzz when some responds in local and will try to keep it going. And "bad English" is never a problem for me. I appreciate the effort and how can I criticise someone for trying to speak in a another language when all I can manage is English? What's important to me is what is said, not that it is said in a grammartically correct way. FrenchKiss
MissPlaced
is that you i always see in there on the stool humping the air? lolNo, I'm often the one on stage with no clothes on Although this is less likely at the moment with the stripper poles being broken >.<

RiviPiassa
I also do not know how to speak English, I used a translator for this, because Brazilians are few in the 3dx, but one time I love the conversations in the local chat room when someone came to tell us that we had to talk in private chat because we were talking Much, well after that we became shy and then when we want to chat we created a chat group to chat outside of place or world. ChiK73
Local chat in public has become a rarity, most people always seem to want to just talk to me in PM's. It can get quite annoying, with 10 boxes full of "Hi" "how are you" "wanna have fun" and so on. If someone says hello in local, I definitely try to reply back, but for the most part, it is mostly dead air. I say hello to my friends in rooms in local, but often it's missed, and I'm forced to go PM myself to get my greeting noticed. Language skills don't bother me, I've ironically found some of the biggest complainers are some of the worst spellers themselves, Mr. Kettle and Mrs. Black, so to speak, so I would say to those shy about their language skills, don't you worry about speak, speak freely and have fun, that's the main reason we are here, despite some peoples opinions on that. jimmy
i see more responses good, i see some cons of closing world chat too, someone said they advertise there rooms there, another one said they use it for a good rant now and then and someone else said they use it to sharper there skills, all valid claims i guess, i see some pros in closing it too 1. it would actually make people take there avatar into a room and participate in the game, i think that is the intent in the first place 2. i think it would kick the soap box out from the ones who are abusing it, if you remove there audience or at least make it much smaller they suddenly are just another person in the game 3. i actually think people would start using local chat more like other sites do and the word community would apply much more 4. i think the site has outgrown world chat and thats why its gone this way, there is a reason why the similar sites don't have it 5. there is the legal issues that could start to arise also cyber bulling is a crime and so far they seem very resistant to removing the offenders there maybe financial reasons for this idk it is a pay site, also some users have such a severe addiction to this place i am sure the believe they would be back with a new account in a matter of minutes, would love to hear from the staff on this issue 6. world chat is the first thing new users see, its like showing someone the cesspool first lets here from some other users, RobT we all know how you feel by now, you have many posts on the topic that you believe "world chat is life" i believe that its "your life" but thats just my opinion, lets hear from some others and not just silly tomfoolery about how to change someones settings or throwing your pc in the rock quarry or that closing world chat will cause a zombie apocalypse but a good spirited discussion, i think forums is the place for such discussions not in world chat, and i even have nothing against conflict and strife i just think this 3d avatar site we pay to particapte in is not the platform for it Yes you got me, can't get one by on you, thats me too. Child pornography, belittling other sexualities... and god knows what else is going on that I have missed... Maybe some off you get off on stirring attention this way, and I am feeding right into it... I am that stupid. Everyone has the right to speak his/her own mind... I'm not here to take that away from anyonebut please have some morals, and keep in mind that other people are going to read it too... Yes I know, some will say, If you don't like it, don't read it.... well I WON'T KNOW HOW DISGUSTING IT IS 'TIL I HAVE... and then it's too late. THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU WRITE ANYTHING... FOR THE SAKE OF OTHERS ! PS : Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.Hey chaostika, some others may have been able catch it too if...well you know chaostika

FrenchKiss
Well unfortunately you're right Mei, local is dead most of the time... It highly depends on who's on, but I had quite a few nice convos in local lately, in SIn. Thing is those conversations happened with only a few people cause most of all are probably in pm or group chat indeed. And local convos keep happening sometimes, right ? *Winks at Meilyn* Nothing is lost, we can save local if we unite ! At least in sin, I barely never go to the othe public places.... Xanar
The secret of a good room is not how it looks, it's more a combination between a good public chat and good music. When AoD was still a thing, I usually wrote "Hey" to everyone who joined the room. I kept local alive with jokes and other stuff. Whenever I enter a room and I don't get a "Hi" or so back, I leave. AmberS
It's so funny - I actually never imagined local chat as part of the room. For example, that it's nice to greet people once you enter. I am so impolite However I noticed that once I enter room, you either see your friends and dive into PM's with them or you receive messages from strangers. Even though I consider myself to be good in handling multiple chats, it would be hard to follow conversation in local chat as well. Although I tried to greet people in Sin today meilyn
meilyn
When I enter I always greet, when I reenter from time to time, when I go to bed i seldom say goodbye. From time to time I pick up a joke line in local and post something to stay present. If I am busy/PM or so, I dont do it. that is my tactics *smiles* What I mean is that when you do something in local, say striptease or whatever, there is still NO response. And for me, I got the impression that this was not like this say a year ago.At least 2-3 people hook up.But maybe I am just getting old *lol* MissPlaced and FrenchKiss
Lilac
I always find Local chat in Sin Club to be less active. Also what I have also found is when Local chat IS active, it's between friends or between people who know each other although I am guilty of this very same thing but I do not mind any newcomers joining. I also AFK in Sin club the most.. It's a natural habit I have.
