Since I got a like on my post I have looked back at this.

I have a SL premium house and, unless I don't understand what is considered "adult content", I have no problem with it fitted out with a shower, urinal, toilet, gyno chair, etc.or finding the partners to use them.

Anyone is welcome to come help me use them when you are in SL ;)

Because 3DXChat devs still have not reimplemented vidéos in game, I am linking an asset allowing embedded browser in Unity games which will allow to watch videos (and much much more like mini games)!!!

Asset: https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/55459

Basically this would allow the following:

- watch videos in streaming (as long as the video player uses HTML5 and not Flash)

- display any web page like website

- play mini games directly inside 3DX

With a bit of development to sync actions on screen, we could:

- play multiplayer games inside 3DX (even basic 3D ones thanks to WebGL)

- play YouTube or any other streaming service easily

The asset is only 75$ so I really don’t understand why this feature is still not reimplemented...

I'm betting there is a licensing issue with using that asset. That's a great idea and one which would be a real game-changer here.

Embedding a browser is the easy part. Synchronizing it between clients - that's the tricky part.

There are several people who already have working synchronized movie/image players built for Curio which is also built in Unity.

I doubt you would see any brought over here though cause there is currently no way for them to make money off doing that here.

As for the asset in the Unity Store, usage is subject to the terms here. As you will see, using assets from the Unity Story by Sexy Devil isn't as easy as just picking an asset they want and installing it.  It can be done with permission or separate agreement, but it isn't just as easy as buying some kewl apps and dropping them in for the listed prices.

2. END-USER's Rights and Obligations 2.1

END-USER may use the licensed Assets only for their intended purpose.

2.2

2.2.1 Non-Restricted Assets. The following concerns only Assets that are not Restricted Assets:

Licensor grants to the END-USER a non-exclusive, worldwide, and perpetual license to the Asset to integrate Assets only as incorporated and embedded components of electronic games and interactive media and distribute such electronic game and interactive media. Except for game services software development kits (“Services SDKs”), END-USERS may modify Assets. END-USER may otherwise not reproduce, distribute, sublicense, rent, lease or lend the Assets. It is emphasized that the END-USERS shall not be entitled to distribute or transfer in any way (including, without, limitation by way of sublicense) the Assets in any other way than as integrated components of electronic games and interactive media. Without limitation of the foregoing it is emphasized that END-USER shall not be entitled to share the costs related to purchasing an Asset and then let any third party that has contributed to such purchase use such Asset (forum pooling).

2.2.2 Restricted Assets. The following concerns only Restricted Assets:

Restricted Assets have license terms different from other Assets. Those license terms are found in the materials accompanying Restricted Assets ("Restricted Asset Terms"). For clarity, to the extent Restricted Asset Terms are different from this EULA, the Restricted Asset Terms will control; otherwise, this EULA will continue to apply. No other use is licensed or permitted and END-USER may otherwise not use, reproduce, distribute, sublicense, rent, lease or lend Restricted Assets. Without limitation of the foregoing it is emphasized that END-USER shall not be entitled to share the costs related to purchasing a Restricted Asset and then let any third party that has contributed to such purchase use such Restricted Asset (forum pooling).

2.3

EXCEPT FOR EDITOR EXTENSION ASSETS, END-USER is granted a license to install and use Assets on an unlimited number of computers provided that these computers are either all (i) physically located at a single physical location ("Site") belonging to END-USER, or (ii) laptops belonging to END-USER which have been made available by END-USER to its employees that are employed at the same Site provided all such computers have appropriately licensed Unity software installed. Consequently, any Asset may only be used at particular Site or on computers assigned to END-USER's employees employed at the same Site and may only be moved to another Site subject to prior written approval from Licensor. THIS CLAUSE 2.3 DOES NOT APPLY TO ASSETS THAT IN THE UNITY ASSET STORE ARE CATEGORIZED UNDER THE HEADING "EDITOR EXTENSIONS."

I didn't say this is impossible :)

Do those players synchronize web browsers (including navigation and stuff) or only videos? (Or maybe they require direct video urls?)

I have tried playing with video playback and synchronization a bit, and so far only YouTube has been reliable since it has public API to control the video playback. For other video sites you need to reverse the scripts and figure out how to tap into their player controls, and yet that may still not work, or the API can change frequently.

For now the most reliable way for me seems to use a combination of a web browser to browse and an embedded VLC engine to play selected videos on TV. The browser part should be able to parse pages to get direct video links, and VLC should handle video playback and synchronization. This is also not very reliable and will require writing parsers for each specific page, but should at least allow to play/stop/seek videos.

Another approach would be to have partner agreements with video site so that they would provide an API, but this is something for SGD to think about :)

lol TBH i haven't a clue how they work.  :)

That being said they have extensive libraries or Porn, movies, music videos, etc and I believe can also do youtube. I believe.

If you want to know more, you could send a message to Silesa and ask her at. https://www.utherverse.com/net/profile/view_profile.aspx?MemberID=98626449. There are others, but I don't have contact information for them offhand. there are around a dozen who offer the older versions that use flash in RLC. I don't know their experience, skill level or how difficult it would be to make what works in flash work in what is required in UNity. If I remember correctly, flash doesn't work in Unity.

PS, if you don't trust the link, you could also google  Redlight Center or https://www.utherverse.com/

Hope that helps.

I have tried Curio, but it was laggy and buggy as hell. Also, they're using this stupid CCBill payment system which doesn't accept cards from Russia.

Well, I guess I could poke into Curio's dlls to see how it's made, but their code base is really huge, can be hard to find anything specific %)

From the page you have provided it looks like they're using a web wrapper hosted on their server to process your urls, so Unity only need to know how to play streams from their site, and their server handles the rest. I may be wrong though.

You could also try their forums. They are a talkative bunch there and many are extremely open and helpful.

Yeah Curio was way behind last I poked in and they all look like kissing cousins still, cause the Avi skins havn't been a priority.. But they seem to be plodding along. The clothing system is finished, and prop inventory is pretty much finished.  A micro-economy will make that place boom once they get the final kinks out of user uploads and everyone floods the place with things to buy. There are people that have 4 years of content waiting to go in for sale. I'm sure you'll see some of those who have things for sale in the Unity Asset Store open stores there also to sell their content. I have content waiting also.

I hope for Sexy Devils sake they start pumping out content quicker here.

Hi THX. So in reading your posts both here and in the RLC forums I am wondering which world you find preferable?

Both have pros and cons.

Both places suffer from the same problem. Slow development. That isnt meant as a cut, simply a fact.

It's nice not having extra costs, but there is no doubt that when a micro economy exists or users can add content, content becomes abundent.

It would be interesting to see what would happen here is there was no micro economy but users could create content like, clothing, skins, prop meshes, scripts and such. Would people add content, how much and what kind of quality would it be. It would be fascinating to see what hapoened.

If there was a micro economy here today, there would be a movie and youtube player here tomarrow.

I think I might be about the only person that is  happy with the development of this world. lol I can definitely see the pros to a micro economy but at the same time as someone that only plays and doesnt create anything I do like the fact that I am not opening my wallet everytime I log in. I have my fingers crossed that now that the world editor is complete and par for the course that next on the list might be more options for character customization and clothing hair etc. I find this world visually stunning and the things people have learned to do here with limited options never ceases to impress me.

Side note question because someone mentioned lag. I have found that I experience a bit of lag after being in user created rooms for awhile. It is very odd for me to ever experience lag anywhere. I can easily open numerous games on my computer and look at websites all at the same time without ever getting that little jerky motion which I notice most in the chat box. Any ideas on the hows or whys this is happening and anything I can do on my end to stop it?

If the game were opened up for people to create - and make available for download - clothes, skins, etc, I'd imagine a similar situation would occur as happened with the advent of the World Editor....  Lots of talented and generous people making their designs available for everyone else's benefit.

The creation of a payment option to facilitate a micro economy would surely result in even more variety but compared to what is actually available now, even without this, I think the increased choice would be pretty staggering and boy, does this game need it!  lol

Unfortunately with most programs that do this, the quality goes down quite a bit in many areas. If they do this, they would have to be extremely choosy about  what goes through. Then we would have a rebellion from those who might be turned down.... it could get messy, perhaps more messy than they care to tolerate.
