Does Player Gender Matter?

As you are new I am interested in a couple of things though.

When you created your avi, did you think of making an avi different to your real life gender?

Did you think about how people may have made an avi different to their own gender?

First thing I did was make a male avatar (as I am a guy), but I realized that if this game is like most online sex-oriented activities, there would be a whole ton of dudes around, and it might make sense to have a female character too. In my mind it didn't matter, but once I was asked whether I was the same gender as my avatar I began to wonder if it was a bigger deal than it seemed to me. I just want to make sure not to violate the etiquette of this community and get people mad at me on accident.

I just want to make sure not to violate the etiquette of this community and get people mad at me on accident.

Personally, I don’t think there is a “community” that shares a single etiquette. I think there are several different communities all mixed together, all with different assumptions.

For the sake of discussion, however, I will tell you what I wish the etiquette was. And believe me, in the past two years, I have made every mistake in the book. So these suggestions are based on the mistakes I don't want to make again.

Always read a player’s profile before you chat with them. If you don’t, you have no one to blame but yourself for whatever disappointment you suffer.

If you are a heterosexual man who is actively seeking new relationships with heterosexual woman only, please say so in your profile. If you are a heterosexual woman who is actively seeking new relationships with heterosexual men only, please say so in your profile.

Many transgender players post in their gallery cartoons or computer-generated graphics of shemales or futanari characters, and I think this is a good way to show people what you are without actually saying it explicitly. But no matter how you do it, please say so in your profile if you are actively seeking new relationships.

On the other hand, if you are not actively seeking new relationships and don't want want to say what you are in your profile, that's fine, too. But if you don't, please be sure to tell new friends individually, because they will appreciate your honesty.

If you are a transgender player, please be aware that there are many players here who will be totally accepting of you as a friend, but who do not want to have a sexual relationship with you. There are also many players who will be perfectly happy to have a sexual relationship with you as long as you are honest about who you are from the start.

If you are a transgender player, please do not come out after you have sex with someone. Please either come out before you have sex or don’t come out at all. In fact, it’s almost always better to come out just as soon as you start flirting with someone, even though there are some very kind-hearted people here who will accept you no matter who you are or what you do.

If you are a man playing 3DX as a female character who is interested in women, please do not call yourself a lesbian.

If you are a man playing 3DX as a female character, please do not post in your gallery photos of a woman, because this gives the impression that you are a woman. I think that there are many exceptions to this rule, if it is obvious that the person in the photo is a celebrity or a porn star. But photos of ordinary people are misleading.

I'm sure there are many other points, too. But I hope this gives you some idea and serves as a starting point for a meaningful discussion.

I think this game platform should be split in 2 different category in the way this topic going

1 for hollywood role players who don't have any real intention to share privacy and just wanted to have fun in game... the other for those looking for serious rl relation.

I almost don't want to comment, as I've seen how the other threads on this topic have gone. Personally, I find it insulting and hurtful to be grilled about my gender or other facts about my real life by every other guy I talk to. I'm not here to skype, exchange naught pictures, give out my phone number or many other requests I get from total strangers in the first two minutes of chatting. And because I'm not willing to do this, it's assumed I'm lying about being a woman. I don't know what the answer to the problem is, other than if the fact you might accidentally have cybersex with someone of the same gender as you is really that disturbing, perhaps online sex games are not for you.

First of all: It does matter as what kind of gender you're playing - at least when it comes to sex!

As a male you have to act and behave in totally different way than playing a female. Im playing this game now for over a good year and learned a lot about being male or female. In my opinion there are two different worlds as male role players.

1.) You be a reasonable male, running around, talking to female avs just like you would  - at least to some parts - in a real world. That will bring you to funny conversations, weired partys and - after long and intensive playing - to some sex. But mostly this sex will be way better than that you'll experience in 2,)

2.) You run around like a dick stirred nerd asking every girl you meet to have sex with you. For some reason (and I really can't explain it) sentences like "Hey, you hot. Wanna fuck you" seem to do the job. That will bring you a lot of ignores but also a lot of sex. Mostly of with conversations like "Oh god - you good" or "Oh. You. Call me names..." or a totally silent clicking throuhg poses. If you like descriptive sex: In most cases you will hold a monolog and recieve a "You good" at the end.

Most of the guys I see walking around seems to play 2.). Maybe that is the reason why playing a) is that hard because female - at least the ones with some brain - are sceptical to everyone new.

Playing as female is totally different. You can act much more like you want to. There much fewer aggression against you and you really can pick the sexpartner you prefer. Of course you will also have a lot of cold calls (see 2.)). But sometimes is much more fun. Especially when you don't have much time for a session.

Why do I know this? I play both characters: My main Avi where I'm more or less me - and my female avi.

But what's very important for me: I never gonna hurt someone with my female avi. For that I don't accept romantical relationships and I always stick to my role. So for my playing partners I AM a female. And I always will respect this.

Yes you are not forced to write your real life gender on your profile but people respect it if you do. Is what I meant. :)

It's funny because this is in no way true.

If you play a male avatar with nothing written in your bio, no one will ever question or ask for your real life gender. If you play a male character and say you are a male irl in your bio no one will pester you for proof. If you say you are a female irl in your profile on your male character, you will constantly be asked for proof showing you are in fact a female irl and the level of proof will always be questioned.

If you play a female character with nothing written in your bio you will constantly be asked to prove you are a female irl. If you play a female character and write in your bio that you are male, no one will ever ask you to prove it. If you play a female character and write in your bio that you are female irl, you will constantly be asked to prove you are a female irl and the level of proof will always be questioned.

The ONLY time someone will ever question you as a player is when you say you are in any way female. Either by the character you choose, or by what you write in a bio.

Personally, the thought of questioning whether or not the guy I'm talking to is actually a guy never crossed my mind. An I've never heard of guys complaining about being baggered for proof of their gender. I think Euk might have it right with most of the demands for proof being targeted at female characters...

Play the game as you like, disclose what you like, keep to yourself what you like. I've played the game for fun getting involved with female Avis and knew they were male irl. It's fantasy, role play gender doesn't matter if they play toon well and all your looking for is some online fun. I've also played seriously and met someone irl. When I look back on it I should have kept it to the rp but well we all learn

there is no right or wrong way to play. here is the breakdown. The ones who gender bend on here will go nuts defending keeping things a secret. the ones who think this is the dating game or whatever will tell you be true to who you really are. Play the game as you want and if someone doesnt like it, Sweep them under the rug and move on.

As Ash wrote , many will respect if you state your real gender in profile. Real question is, will you respect the fellow players in the 3dx world by stating your gender? Not telling the truth about yourself is a lie, lies are disrespectful and lead to trouble...serious troubles. If you realy are a true roleplayer, write that 1 fucking sentence in your profile , saying " im a man irl, im just roleplaying "...And all good! Easypeasy. But you dont, coz you know you are not gonna find too many partners in this way, so what you do is, just lying about your gender, not caring about who you gonna hurt , and then hook up. This is where you need show some respect and honesty! Is this only a game? then dont hesitate to state your real gender, noone is going to take it seriously right? If its just a virtual fun for you, without  investing any real feelings, try not to hurt others or lie to them then! Its so easy.

You come to forum , telling that real gender doesnt matter. If its doesnt then state it in your profile, coz there are ppl out there that actually cares about your real gender. Dont hurt them. Its just a game right? -.-

After a bit of research I found the following...

  • Gender refers to the personal sexual identity of an individual, regardless of the person's biological sex
  • A person's biological sex is determined by chromosomes found in the nucleus of most living cells
  • A transsexual is a person who emotionally and psychologically feels that they belong to the opposite biological sex
  • Epicene means having characteristics of both sexes (or no characteristics of either sex)

...so ask yourself what is more important to you, biological sex or personal sexual identity? The answer might be different for in 3DXChat than in real life.

its like a broken record and most championing it are by people who do it....   You can sugar coat it all you want but when you purposely deceive someone ... its still deceit no matter how nice you try to make it sound. Does the average person need to know, no  but when you are in a "relationship" here and you openly lie to them, its still a lie

I don't condone any kind of purposeful deceit, my post was simply a response to "Does player gender matter?"

Some people in this game (I would say most) believe that if you play a female AVI then you should either be biologically female or specify in your profile that you are biologically male. It's the safest way to play so as not to hurt and mislead anyone. Others are happy whatever the biological sex.
