Tiggrrrtoo Posted January 2 Posted January 2 (edited) Morning everybody, a sleepless night, it seems. Okay, I'm new here in 3dx, but I'm not new to building in virtual worlds. I was in RLC for about 9 years and deco (building) was one of my favorite things to do. There are a lot of differences that are confusing to me. First, collidables (hit boxes) .... In RLC, you could choose whether each prop that you installed was collidable---meaning it stopped your avatar or affected the camera. Here there is no such luxury that I've seen. I use a lot of columns or pillars in almost everything that i build that is indoors. This makes for a rather annoying jitter to the players camera and it doesn't play well at all. I've been to some really beautiful builds here, but the player experience and moving around the room is problematic and the camera is jittery and jumpy because of ... collidables. From columns to literally every little detail. However, I've been to a build where the some of the columns aren't collidable, my toon walked right through them and they didn't affect my camera. So, my first questions is, how to remedy this and what would those columns have been made from? In hand railings, I've resorted to clear glass dropped down from the railings so that the players camera isn't jumping all over the place. . It isn't ideal but its better than nothing. Obviously, I cant do that with things like columns. I've tried the so-called "invisible wall", but when your camera touches it, this annoying "force field" effect happens .... which kind of negates the point of having an invisible wall. Second ,,,,, Textures. Many of the textures in game are terrible and cartoonishly huge. The selection is also rather limited, which is why places and rooms tend to end up looking the same after a while. At least it seems that way to me. In RLC, it was the same, maybe even worse, but you had the option of making your own textures and hosting them via a hyperlink and hosting sites like Imgur. This made for a robust and creative deco community and while RLC is very old with poor graphics compared to 3dx, you could create some beautiful and unique properties and rooms because of this feature. The same could be said of the clothing, maybe even more so. So, my second question is, can you or is there a way to resize the room textures in game that I have missed? There are some that I've wanted to use, but they are so huge that it looks terrible. I get it that the world engines are different, that if you were to upload, say, a photo, the game would turn it into thousands of little props that would bog the whole thing down. At least that's how I understand it. Anyway, I would gladly appreciate any help or constructive advice and I look forward to creating and seeing all of you in the game Hugs Tigg Edited January 2 by Tiggrrrtoo changes
