What about custom prints? Uploading your own material? That would definitely give way more variety.

This might lead to legal issues if people upload branded logos and such?

Not what the rules say about that.

You would need the UV maps for each piece of clothing we have. Very simple task to provide if they chose to do this. They look like this:

32UV41v.png?1

A  T-shirt mesh.

add a "print"  (or texture in other worlds)

Add a .bmp map

and you get this (prior to the bump map added)

But Gizmo may be working on something better.

Is it as good as baked folds?

Maybe not, but good artists can fake all that and you'd never know unless you looked really close and there is flexability - so a trade off of what is "best."

Copy right problems

Not really. Been going on in the old worlds for over a decade. There are hundreds of brand names on stuff sold. Prada, Nike, Coca Cola, etc...

Lot's of Brand names everywhere.  Worst case for the Company is  say Coca Cola sends the company a complaint and the company removes the users content and gives a warning or ban.

Plus, lot's of free still out there and places you can pay a minimal fee to join and use their textures too.

Example: https://stock.adobe.com/

You mean kind of like the legal issues that could be brought up for using the Gibson Les Paul body shape in game for the guitars, which btw is patented?
