Lately I've been browsing this forum, which until now I'd rather skimmed. One thing I've noticed is that it's not uncommon to contrast lightly-filled rooms with very full ones. We often point the finger at those who "make the numbers", bemoaning the lack of atmosphere and superficiality of these rooms, while the lightly-filled rooms are said to be much more inspiring (and I heard this ingame too when I started). On the other hand, I never see any host who "makes numbers" complaining about those who don't. These observations make me want to remind some things (which are known to many people here, but which deserve to be said in my opinion): - First of all, the quality of a room and its atmosphere are in no way inversely proportional (or proportionnal) to the number of people in it. The influx is essentially linked to the organization that has been put in place to invite people into the room. It's been a long time since I had any illusions about this, and I know that no matter how much self-sacrifice I put into creating a club room, it won't fill up by the operation of the Holy Spirit. Its gauge has to be calibrated when it's created, and things have to be organized according to that, if it's a club, with a precise timetable for the event. Note, however, that a club is bound to be lighter than a chill room, especially if the planned capacity is large. So it's a major constraint to make an inspiring room (not to mention the logos), which is easier when you can use 3Mb per exemple (without logos). But it's possible of course ! Quality is not synonymous with quantity of elements used. - There are several types of room, and there should be no more glory in filling your room in the case of a club, nor in having chosen and organized a smaller gauge, nor in having opted for a chill room. Everything should depend on our initial objectives and desires, and no one should judge that, everything is interesting and very different. I therefore consider that those who criticize organizers who bring together a large number of people are above all betraying a personnal frustration, whether unconscious or not. After all, if you're happy with your choices, you shouldn't care about the choices/challenges of other players, by whatever means. People are free to go where they please isn't it ? I'm surprised that this isn't so obvious in this game. To conclude this "little" post (which I'm sure won't please some people), I'd also like to point out that on a game, virtuality means that people don't really know each other, not "really"... So it's not uncommon to see incomprehensible negative behavior here and there, often linked quite simply finally to jealousy, and sometimes taking complex forms, through ghost accounts, defamation, weird little sentences, dramas of all kinds... It's the normal order of things, no doubt, but luckily it's not just that ! I hope that talking about it will have some virtue in spite of everything. There is more to be gained from this game by staying focused on your own desires and their sharing; there are many ways to have fun, and we should be happy to see others having fun too. Let's be tolerant, and the pleasure will only be better.
