    3DXChat Development Update 1

You're responding as if I want to remove all nameplates globally, but that's not at all what I said... This was an effect that builders had to specifically craft their rooms around, it took some planning and effort on their parts, to lower the sealevel, get the relevant hidden portions of their build down to the appropriate z-height, and then in some cases restore the sealevel again to benefit from the dappled-sunlight effect... This created an intentional level of anonymity in a single room, or zones of a room when linked by teleporters. It was never a global effect, I never asked for it to become a global effect, all I asked for was that a similar functionality be given to builders again so that they can make anonymous rooms, or better still anonymous zones within rooms, like they used to. Lunarelf already described how that kind of anonymity was being gamified to create interesting experiences which we simply can't have anymore. If I go to a Hunt Room for example, it's not a question of weather I can turn off nameplates to show or hide people, the issue is that it's currently impossible to have any confidence that other people can't see me... You see the difference? As for your example of wanting to meet with friends and being unable to see them because their nameplates are hidden; well you presumably wouldn't be picking a known anonymous room to meet them in at all, would you? Not unless there was a compelling gameplay reason for doing so?... You'd go to Havasu, or a club, or the vast majority of worlds which aren't intentionally using the nameplate hiding feature.

Please, please, please... Just fix the ability for builders to hide nameplates again! Turns out that was a feature, not a bug, and some of the most entertaining rooms in the game have been made pointless shadows of their former selves since the nameplate change... The gameplay is objectively less diverse and interesting now.
  3. That would be great for RP spaces, but boy I'd hope it doesn't get overused... F5ing around a room while I wait for the radio ads to finish and the music to start playing is the main way I decide if I want to stay or not.
  4. Yeah, it was my understanding that the bug was related to negative z-axis values, and like JenC said it wasn't so much 'fixed' as it was bypassed by a new nameplate display method. But regardless of that, I want to support the sentiment of this post 100% ... The changes have broken a number of functionally unique rooms, from Hunt Mazes, to Roleplay rooms and Anonymous Sex/Partner Sharing rooms. It was a bug that added experiential value to the game, was a source of emergent gameplay ideas, and to the best of my knowledge hurt nobody in the process. I think it's important to get the simple functionality, of a Builder being able to toggle nameplate display On or Off for their rooms, back again... The old bug should be functionally included as a feature in this new display system.
