  1. Coriolis bar worked great when people played regularly and you could start complex story lines with multiple people being fairly confident you can get them together to continue the story soon enough. Now with everyone being busy in RL it doesn't really work. The last month of Coriolis was not fun at all Now we live in an age of simpler RP formats, unfortunately
  2. Things have certainly gotten worse. I believe RP was best when the lockdowns were most intense, when people played regularly, and you could do complex story lines with multiple people and be fairly confident you will be able to get the same people together and continue the story soon. Now everyone is more busy, so you better stick to simpler one off scenes, since you aren't sure when you would see the person again another thing is, i still meet very good roleplayers now and then, but unfortunately people who are good at RP tend to not be online very often; i guess it is understandable, more interesting people probably have more things to do in real life. not that i would know, of course and, of course, most rooms that have RP in the name are merely a suggestion. It is more like the owner says: i built a room with a certain RP scenario in mind, and i'd like you to find people to RP with and use the room. you're welcome But, since you can't really attach a room description/rules to a room (you can make a forum page, but who ever reads those?), the players have to guess what the owner had in mind; also, finding a partner who can RP takes a bit of luck Rooms where the owner actually makes an effort to guide the RP are very rare; also please understand it is a lot of effort, and players don't make it very easy. I do come across such rooms now and then Also, if you think you are good at RP, maybe you could run a guided RP room yourself? i would appreciate the effort :)
  3. i also saw some people run star wars themed RP. i think the leader's name was Major Hardcock. but i can't remember how long ago it was, not sure they are still doing it
  4. Setting: A space station in an o'Neill cylinder orbiting Ceres. Nice place to stop for spaceship maintenance, barter, or just have a drink and stretch your legs in comfortable 0.7g spin gravity. Ask the bartender for entertainment services available. The events take place in an Expanse like universe, with the solar system being currently colonized, but no interstellar travel going on yet. We do not do Expanse RP, and no knowledge of Expanse lore is required. The station is outside any major jurisdiction, and some shady business might be under way. Rules: - No colds please; if other guests complain that you send repeat cold requests, you will be banned - You are welcome to explore, but please do not walk into private rooms that have someone inside without their explicit permission - In local chat, try to avoid having conversations that would upset other guests - We aim for an immersive theater experience. Try to avoid behavior that would ruin the experience for other players - Payments for drinks/entertainment are roleplayed, but no actual payments are required. Gifts are not necessary Suggestions: - We try to do local chat in the bar area, and private chat in private rooms - If you want to spend some private time with another guest, please ask a bartender about renting a room. Helping yourself to a random room is frowned upon, but we do not ban for it - Background stories for visitors are encouraged - Try not to wear yellow outfits, you might be confused with an employee
  5. This thread actually got me thinking why we don't have more RP focused rooms; i would assume they would be popular i guess the answer is that the game doesn't make it easy to run them First of all, it would be nice to have something like a 'room profile' - some convenient space where you could post the story, rules, and suggestions. Right now there are several workarounds, none of them perfect: - have the room description in the owner's profile; i guess it is the best solution for now, but doesn't really leave much space for the owner's character - put it in a thread in 3dxforum; unfortunately, there is no easy way to provide the link to the forum, and, since the forum requires a separate credentials from the game, i am afraid a very small minority of players use it when the servers aren't down - just explain the rules to everyone who seems interested Then, enforcing the rules; you can imagine, one player who is deliberately trying to ruin the experience for everyone can cause a lot of disruption; so what can i do to enforce the rules in my room? answer is, very little; i can add the person to my ignore list, and that would keep them from reentering after they leave; but, before they leave, they will probably spend hours yelling insults in local chat and masturbating on random guests. Perhaps if i had an option to boot players from my room, and, ideally, if i could delegate this ability, let's say to people in my friend list or in my group chat, it would be very helpful
  6. It depends on the room; in RP rooms local chat is encouraged, and usually is active; in dance rooms there is usually something going on as well. orgy/cold rooms are usually silent
  7. if you like scifi RP, try Coriolis :)
