  1. Tried that. No effect. I always get the same message when I start the launcher: "Network Error! - File 94 of 94"
  2. No offense, but not only is that not MY logic...that isn't logical at all. If from one specific car model 1 out of 100 suddenly catches fire, the car isn't "working" or "fine". Count the issues on the first page of the tech-support subforum that mention "connection" or "network". I'd say that's a little above average. My logical reasoning goes a little something like this: .) I've played the game for years...have seen a lot of updates without issue and didn't make any change on my system recently. .) with the new version, nothing...literally nothing....that requires network connectivity with the game works...like....at all. Firewall/Antivirus on/off...doesn't matter. The self-test tool doesn't work....neither does anything in the guide .) there are a number of people with problems on that matter .) the only change in the entire formula is the new version of the game. Ergo: Something in the games code was changed that causes this. And it seems to affect only some people...so these people will have something in common. Region of the world, graphics card, a certain provider....that's not my job to find out. I'm not sure what else to tell you, too. What can I do besides downloading the installation file to a brandnew windows and doubleclick on it?
  3. Guys.....could we please stop blaming the users? I have the exact same problem (i think). Installation wont even go through. (connection error while downloading files) I've followed all the "self help" steps...none worked. The terminal-file that was posted in another thread doesn't even produce an output and immediately closes.Even when I run it as administrator. Firewall and Antivirus are off (which is a complete joke and suggesting to do so to make a game function properly is a red flag if there ever was one). The game worked FINE until the recent update. WITH firewall and antivirus. If some users....with a fresh installation of windows and DISABLED firewall and antivirus can't even install the game and get a connection error....when EVERYTHING else is working fine on the same machine.....come on. The number of people posting these issues alone should tell developers "mhh....maybe we fucked up a little". It just blows my mind that people casually suggest to disable firewall and antivirus as if this were a normal thing to do. Just to be on the same page: 3dxchat is the only application that shows this problem on my end.
  4. Hello, I’ve got a technical issue I can’t wrap my head around: 3DXChat is one of the last pieces of software I use Windows for. Although I knew there are solutions out there (wine/playonlinux) I never really tried it…until I read this thread: http://3dxforum.com/index.php?/topic/6466-linuxplayonlinux-setup/ This kind of…brought the topic back on my radar. So I just gave it a try and installed playonlinux on my system. Specs: Core I5 4670K Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 8 GB Ram Swappable main hard drive (for switching between windows and linux as long as necessary, usefull for comparison of course) Current version of playonlinux with wine 3.20 (also tried: 3.2 staging, 3.1 staging and 3.0.1 staging...whatever the hell „staging“ means btw) I was able to successfully install 3DXChat. At first it was REALLY laggy, but after switching to the most recent graphics driver (415) it got a lot better. But….the issue: The performance on linux is WAY worse than on windows. With windows I can change every graphics preset to „extremely high“ and the game runs smooth af. With linux….not so much. I’d estimate I get around half the performance (same cpu load as on windows). The weird thing: Allthough graphics seem to be part of the issue…the main problem is room population. Me alone in my room…a little laggy but playable. But when I go to a room with, let’s say, 20-30 people in it, the game becomes nearly unplayable. I was hoping this „csmt“-thing could be the problem…but none of my wine versions installed have that checkbox in wine settings…also installed „staging“ versions of wine (see above) but no version seems to have this „csmt“ checkbox. Did this become an integrated feature or am I doing something wrong? Since I have a decent machine…the newest drivers and software….I don’t really know what the issue could be. Plus: I don’t understand how „EmmaHNY“ (Link above) was able to play without major issues several months ago, because…just switching back to one driver version before the current one (415) causes major stuttering and lags on my system. Now that I know for sure that it works on linux in general, I really want to get rid of windows…so….any ideas? Does anyone here use playonlinux/wine in a similar setup? Or can anyone give me tips on how to improve performance? Thanks in advance and sorry for the occasional hiccup with my English…not a native speaker ;-)
