My Pop. Miss him every day. Today I will raise my glass to him for all that he gave his family and his country. Just as I would do when he was still with us. Our proud Marine who rarely spoke of his experiences in WW2 and Korea. Who dropped out of school at age 16, forged his birth certificate, and went off to fight the Nazi's before he could legally drive a car. I also toast my biological Dad who was also a Marine and fought in Korea. His experiences there tortured and haunted him till the day he died at the age of 50. So today I raise my glass to these two brave men who had a hand in raising me. One taught me what to accept and the other what not to accept. God bless you both.

Yeah, my grandpa served in WW2 and when I asked him about it, he never said a word, finally, I had to know, I asked if he had ever seen action. He looked at me his eyes filled with a sadness I have rarely seen in any man's eyes and all he said was yes. After that I never asked again. My grandma told me, his mom told her, that the war had changed him. He, was never truly happy I don't think, being an alcoholic, married and divorced because he was always looking for "love". To me, even though I never got a chance to know him well, I will always cherish what times I did get to spend with him.

And bless your family for those who served.
