A couple of requested items that can be shared to everyone. 2 Cars, A police car and a cab. The police care I spent a bit more time on, it can seat 2 people in the front, Female Characters using the stool pose. To access the pose hover your cursor around under the car on either side. I also put in lighting inside the car and for the headlights and tail lights. The cab has no seating or lighting, just the signs. Police Car new.zip Yellow Cab.zip

I've always worked on the assumption they are all 1 meter.

New map time. I got a few requests for a replacement house for the default island as its not really a house anyway, no kitchen or loo or much of anything really. Anyway, I used the highrise map I put up here recently as the base as the work of flattening out the area was already done so I just needed to get rid of that building and make a nice house. I also shrunk the big wharf down to better size to represent it as a private feature. I've tuned the lighting so it looks pretty good at all the presets from night to day. And kept details down so it runs nice on notebooks. 154KB. Enjoy. Luxury Island House.zip

I think Lora might be sorry she asked for requests.
  5. Ok, I didn't realise about the rendering. That makes sense to have an option to remove the water entirely then.
  6. I'm finding it hard to understand your trouble with water? Why are you adjusting it in the first place? Granted, I don't use it much, I've built a total of 3 maps where I've actually wanted the water, a yacht, a sub and an oasis, the yacht and sub for obvious reasons and the oasis I wanted to be able to swim in the part of the springs, and in those cases, I built around the default water level. In all the other worlds, I'm at least meter above the default water line If you don't want water, just do that, place a block a meter above the default waterline, stretch it out to 2000x2000 and presto, a map with no water to ever worry about or be seen.
  7. I have been thinking this over for some time and the way it could be done is by making a bunch of new single poses that can be meshed via the current invisible template system. As most everyone would of seen by now, how people have made some custom poses already using the templates in all sorts of ways. If you made every pose that's already in game now in a template form, but then also only one of the participants of each pose as well, you could make so many new custom poses, FFF/MMM and even 4 or more-somes, but the biggest problem is how do package it? How do you make it a thing so the general populous can easily use it after you've made it? To me, that would have to be the hardest part, not the actual editing. And even the type of suggestion you brought up, still suffers from that same problem, as would any type of editor. How do you package it and how do you deliver it to everyone else? I know how it works, if you've made the custom pose you can say, you click near that, I click near this and so forth, I've seen people make pics using stick figures on the wall behind the prop, and with blue and pink dots so each know where to click, and while that's Ok for some of us playing around with it now, its not a solution for the general player base who just want some more poses to choose from. The more I think about it the more of a logistical nightmare it becomes.
  8. That's a bit of a stretch, Allie. I can't speak for the others, but its probably more to do with not using too many reflective surfaces because it one of the biggest lag causes in this engine, as well as it does it horribly, reflecting things 50 meters away, and most tend to use as little as possible in their builds to keep it under control? I use it sparingly so I've not noticed what you speak of. I do know that everything changed, and the way your existing rooms changed, and the way you build now is all totally different. They may have altered it as you say, but Its not caused me any problems, and judging by some responses in this thread, it hasn't bothered some others as well. If it was changed as you say, it may have been done to help with the crashing so many were experiencing prior to that last update as well as the performance, and if so, we'll just have to live with it and work with what you have.
  9. It takes some time to work out how to get the lighting right, its been nearly 2 weeks and I'm still learning new tricks with it. Adjusting the main map ambience lighting in small increments, and all the adjustments possible on the new lighting tool, the size, brightness and colour all play a part in finding the right setting you're after. It's not a downgrade by any stretch, its so much more powerful that what we had, the ability to have tiny bits of light to anywhere in the room from the direction we can dictate is awesome. Heres an old shack Im working on, being able to get a soft glow from the vents on the potbelly stove, and the candle effect beside the bed is so nice.
  10. I think you've covered most of it. All the different builds I've made has been a learning experience, and overall its a balancing act the more complex and bigger the room becomes. The two things I've noticed affect performance the most are reflective surfaces and lights, the overall size does affect it as well, but its not a set value, for example I've seen rooms at only 400KB lag so badly, and rooms over 1MB run as smooth as silk, so generally its a combination of all the factors that will determine the efficiency of the room.

It's certainly correct for me. And I would go so far as to say that without the editor, I wouldn't be here at all.

Another map for the island lovers. It's a modified default island map. I cleared the old house and flattened out the area a little more, tidied up and extended the cove. I put in a small high rise. The ground floor is set up as general foyer with main desk, lifts and some seating. You could add a shop or something else in there if you like as there's a bit of unused space there. The top floor has a small furnished apartment and pool. I have the spawn point on the dock, but if you were mainly using it for the apartment, just move the spawn point up to there, or if you would like me to, just ask. I do have a rough set of stairs hidden around the back to access the apartment. The rest of the floors are just blanks. Although I tuned this for a night time event, the lighting looks ok in all the presets. Is just under 100KB's so it runs quite well. Island Highrise.zip
  13. Awesome if that can be done. Also, the new light source in the world builder is great, I can build now and worry about lighting after the structure is complete, not the other way around. Desk lamps, downlights, custom hanging lamps are all possible now. and I was also able to rid my existing rooms of dozens of lights.

New map time! This one is a club that was a part of a bigger project I was doing, but It ended up being too big... Instead of redesigning, I have tidied it up and put it here for you guys to use. Out the front is a wharf with a couple of boats, then just inside the main door is the sign in room. There's the main room with a stage and dance floor, surrounded by 2 tiers, the first with stools and tables and the top with dining and lounges. Off to the side there is an indoor pool and deck, and over to the other side is a naughty/bed area with a fountain. Size is 432KB Nightclub.zip
  15. Yeah, It's extremely hard to build with the speed, its even faster than with shift on in spectator mode. No idea what you mean by scrolling though. but one scroll notch takes me close to out of the world, its that sensitive.
  16. While I agree that a little more communication from Gizmo or someone would be welcome, It's very unrealistic to expect them to blog about the week to week runnings of what they do. As has been mentioned in this thread a few times, it is what it is, a very small project with a couple of people, and you have to be realistic in your expectations in what comes with that.
  17. After playing around with a small boat Kati shared in the workshop, I got a bug to build a boat, and seeing as how we have all this water around, you would think this idea would of come to me sooner. Anyway, here's some pics of the build so far, I feel I'm around 50%. I have a couple of other projects I am finishing up then I'll get back to this, then update the post.

Hey kati, thanks for this, I grabbed the boat and changed it around for another use, a club I am currently building. I turned it into a private vessel and made it a lot longer and added some more seating, all with very little work because of how you designed it. Here's a pic of the changes.

double post, the forum is being strange.
  20. I have been exploring this on and off for a couple of years now, and after so many conversations with people and reading so many blogs, I have come to the conclusion that there is simply no right or wrong way, and that it is all so subjective that its impossible for anyone to say whether something someone else is doing is right or wrong. It is all up to the individuals involved to determine what is right/acceptable/desirable and what is not. One only has to look at the wiki entries for these subjects, the words "may", "often", "sometimes", "can", "might", "usually", are used so regularly throughout the articles its obvious that these are really subjective subjects. Sharing your own ideas is great though, just as threads like this that Vaughan has been making, it helps people explore what they may not have thought of before, and to try different things and to find ways that may be perfect for your own relationship as it evolves. And Sputnik, if he has you on ignore, there's little point in asking any questions don't you think? And if he doesnt, why not send a private message to find out what you seek?

Its map time again. This time I have a police station. This one is not grouped and is set up as a use as is, but if you wanted to import it, it would be easy to trim the outer parts, then group it so you could place it onto an existing map. Its quite big in size, 2 story, with the office and processing area just inside the front door then a walk around to the back for the lock up area, these are individual cells, with all the doors closed, but the doors are made from water so they can be walked through. Out the back door is the car park and a police van(it doesn't look too good) but ok for a prop. Up stairs there are 2 offices, a main one(chiefs/commander) and a smaller one, and a large conference room. We've already used this for a couple of small roleplay scenarios, and its got a nice feel. Size is 199KB Police Station.zip
  22. Custom textures would be so awesome, but the size would need some kind of heavy restriction or the map would quickly become unusable. It would be more desirable if the game added more, then everyone will have them on their computers and not have to download each time they visit the map. And yes to a lot more common assets, its annoying wasting so many KB's and performance on basic little props like appliances, bottles, glasses, cups, plates etc.

Yes Mar, while what I've done are no masterpieces, people have told me they love using them, and as you said, it counts and makes building them far more enjoyable for me. I have a new one that will be ready in the next few days for the people here.

    Another Life

I know its been said in the past that they seem happy with the status quo, the real problem for them will be the slew of similar games coming down the pipeline, and what features will they bring. I feel they must keep innovating here and adding features to this platform, or become obsolete in the not too distant future. A second game is probably out of the question as far as workload goes, so better to add more to this platform, New and bigger separate general rooms that you can't be nude or sex pose in and more roleplay features would be a great start. Getting the video linking in game, being able to make clothing and even poses would be awesome additions.
