This may sound harsh, but honestly no.

  • The lack of communication with your existing community for one, and it has only gotten worse over the years
  • The pandering to one clique and certain people in the game while ignoring the community as a whole is also something that annoys many
  • Ignoring what we repeatedly said we wanted most in both forums and in polls and then make something no one asked for instead
  • The speed of the updates are almost a joke. In 2012 there where 81 small updates, last year there where 2
  • The quality of many new items are not good either, clipping, misalignment and misplacement are more common than not
  • If you look back on everything that has been made since 2012, it is really not much in 12 years and there is no red tread either, it is all over the place
  • We still have dc`s and I vividly remember the dc`s during the covid surge, so i am honestly not looking forward to it happening again with Steam
  • We still have bugs that have been here more or less since launch but we also got quite a few new ones with your updates
  • Some of the really bad ones that broke our builds took ages to fix
  • The bugs we used as a main feature in many rooms, such as hidden names are gone
  • There have been a lot of changes over the years, some good, some bad, on some we got a choice but many where just taken away
  • This game used to lead on everything, now it feels more like a punchline and that saddens me

Over the years it has gone from my favorite game to just a game and finally to meh, maybe i`ll pop in later, but i still subscribe and i probably will for many more years to come even though i am hardly on anymore.

I think many of us feel that way and pop in because it feels familiar, a bit of fun with friends or a bit of "fun" with someone else, maybe to let the creative juices flow and build, but you should not mistake the recurring player base for anything different. I have honestly never heard a single player that`s been here for more than a month say, "woooow, the content is so massive" . I have heard the opposite many times though, but we adapt and most of the time we just laugh at the dc`s bugs, lack of content and updates, and we make do.

but is "make do" really something to rely on while expanding onto a new path ?

Thank you for your honest and detailed post. I appreciate your feedback. Indeed, we have many options for development and improvement, and there is a long road ahead. I can't make any promises that we will fix everything. Still, I can say one thing for sure: I would like for you to one day look at all our work and the updates and say again, "Yes, this is one of my favorite games, and the way it has evolved is cool." I hope that day will come. Let's see what time will bring.

Time to start closing, cancelling auto-renewal on my four accounts, and time to look for greener pastures.

Will the 2 platform's virtual world be combined?  Will we be able to see the rooms and friends that are still on the standard (non-steam) version of the game?

Nothing changes for you. This just allows people to pay and join 3DX using the Steam application. There are no separate servers.

Of course, Steam has great potential.

Plus, if the developers return referral links that allow you to earn GOLD for the game (not real money that is made, but game money) it will give an additional boost to everyone who wants to promote the game on the Internet.

I remember when it worked, I brought more than 100 people into the game through referral links (and earned several tens of thousands of game money, which was a great incentive). For some reason it was canceled (?) and I had to remove several sites dedicated to the game and stop making videos promoting the game...

Steam will of course give an increase in players and that’s great.

But people need to be kept in the game, because after trying everything, people begin to think about leaving. You can keep it by expanding the functionality of the game.

For example, adding a few more necessary primitives to the editor and a dozen more textures and a couple of effects (rain, rotating celestial sphere) will give interesting updates to locations and will make it even more interesting for people. Adding a dozen poses will keep the old-timers from leaving the game for a while, and will make the game more interesting for everyone.

Adding watching a porn tube to TV will also give an interesting effect for watching together :)))

Adding traces of sperm after orgasm, remaining until you press “clear” and accumulating in layers - I don’t think it’s difficult to do, but it will give an interesting effect that many will like... and so on.

In short, developers need to think not only about how to attract people, but also about how to retain them.

Thank you for your positive feedback! And for the provocative questions - I love those :) Responding to your question, I'd like to ask you what you think is more important: the frequency or the quality of updates?

A provocative answer to a provocative question...

Quality and quantity are very different things, still one doesn't need to exclude the other.

Adding material to the game doesn't mean radically changing it every month. With "more frequent updates" I meant the addition of more features, modes, bug fixes, but at the same time also minor additions of materials which, in my opinion, can make the difference between a lackluster game and one that has possibility.
Starting from the basic customization, up to the different activities you can do in the game, I think it would be interesting to see new, both major or minor, stuffs.
Clothes, new ways to spend XGold (which would also incentivize players to purchase them), new additions for roleplay, activities secondary to sex or simple dating... the devil is in the details and not all the details require months of Work.
The launch of the game on Steam is thrilling, but at the same time, as a player myself, I fear it could result in a neutral if not negative reception. We must remember that a good portion of players come from, and are used, to games with frequent updates, additions and more. Making a comparison will be very simple for them, especially if they see the bank statement every month.
So, in conclusion, quality and quantity are very different things, but I hope, first and foremost for the game I have a great passion for, that without supplanting each other they both become part of your development policy.
Not everyone will appreciate paying for a game that gets updated, more or less, once every six months.

Thanks, hope you're doing good!

I have to react to this very interesting thread, just to provide my point of view...

I signed up last week, so new to the game. Actually, not new, as I played it a few years ago. I really thought it was great to be able to enjoy VR in this environment (even if a lot of improvements were expected), and when the environment editor came, I really enjoyed the update. And then there's not much time to play it...

Several years later (this was before covid), I came back, full of hope, telling myself that the game must really be at the top for all these years, that there must be lots of new features.. And there, disappointment: impossible to see what has changed (I'm talking about real features, not a few additional animations or a few skins...). My HP reverb 2 headset is not supported (a message on the forum from 4 years ago said that this was going to happen I think...). In short, it's the same game, nothing new.

At the price of the subscription, without counting the extra expenses that are made, and the little technical investment that seems to be made, I think that 3DXChat is a fantastic cash machine. We continue to put a few updates that don't cost much to ensure that we maintain the user base and that makes it something very very profitable, especially since no real competitors are presenting themselves at the moment.

How can we make this even more profitable without having to develop a great new feature that will revolutionize the game? Just put it on Steam... Is this just a way to make the game more profitable or can we hope that the profits will allow a little more technical investment on the site?

Question: How many people make up the technical team? Full time I mean...

And to answer the comment above if it was better to have quality updates rather than frequent updates... We know very well that in the software industry, frequent updates is the best way to have quality updates. Infrequent updates, that is to say less than once a month, show that we are dealing with software which no longer evolves, or which has become so difficult to maintain that integrating new new features has become hell. I don't know what situation we're in here. So my answer is: I prefer very regular updates, because even if it brings bugs, we know that the fix will arrive quickly...

In conclusion, not very optimistic about the future of 3DXchat, even if Steam will provide a one-off boost. Perhaps the only way to hope for things to change a little would be to have a competitor worthy of the name.

Hi all! Very interested to see the effect that this exposure is going to have on the user base and the overall development of the game...and I tend to agree with most of the reactions made so far to this announcement.

But I already have one important critique of the way this has been previewed on the store page for 3DXChat that is now up on Steam:

Can you PLEASE build a game play preview video that does NOT include violently choking a woman either in public or during sex? I am not here to argue whether such poses should or shouldn't exist in the game at all...that is a whole other topic. If you were to acknowledge that such actions can occur in the game under the Mature Content Warning section (like Steam already does for most other adult titles), that would also not be an issue. Choking as a kink is not the point. Instead, I hate to see the tone of the game being perceived up front right out of the gate as so potentially anti-woman.

What sort of environment or activities are you endorsing through this type of preview? I can only imagine sensitive people of any gender finding this kind of presentation distressing. There are certainly titles with much more extreme subject matter already on Steam, and their tone and intent are usually very clear. If you like that sort of thing, hey, they're games. You always have the choice to play or not play. However, your descriptive text of the wonderful experiences that you can have with a partner in 3DX does not include sexual assault, and maybe you should think through a little more what aspects of the game you really want to use to entice future subscribers. Unless your primary marketing angle is "choke a bitch when she gets out of line", I would have gone with something else a bit more sex-positive.

Not trying to kill the vibe about this important evolution in the game...still very excited to see what impact it has and how it can make things better. I'm just humbly asking to please think through how to best promote our amazing world and community.

Sincerely,

Laz

Beginning this year I started to play 3DXChat - so I'm relatively new.

This game has serious potential
BUT in order to keep up with current technology and competition it needs URGENT improvements or it will unfortunately die 😞
Apparently not much changed wrt. improvements last 10 years...

My proposed improvements/updates:
-more advanced avatar-control options: this mouseclicking kindof transportation/movement control is really outdated -
        >development has to be done to achieve more practical, flexible, dynamicly configurable controls with support for commonly used input devices
    -VR support and motion tracking
-avatars more customizable, fe. always same penisses are boring....
    -programmable moves and poses
    -audio broadcast/streaming has to improve

I've been a regular gamer since mid 80'ties - started with Commodore128 > Amiga > PC (also XBox in between, but don't like playing on console)...

For me gaming has to be as realistic as possible: preferably in 1stperson-simulation:
Ideally VR nowadays - Imagine this in combination with fe. the Lovense support this game already has... ;)
Would be great! Already added into my Steam whishlist, I hope this game can finally evolve to a real succes.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We also have dedicated channel in our Discord server (#suggestions) and a section on our forum where players can share their ideas to inspire the developers.

Thank you for your detailed response. We are also considering the challenges that await us ahead: it may be demanding players who are used to frequent game updates, or it may be negative reviews on Steam, or our servers will struggle with the load from a massive influx of players. I understand that a tough road awaits us. But I always remember that we have a wonderful community of players who enjoy and support what we do. We have a fantastic team of talented developers, friends, and partners. And no matter what obstacles we face, we can overcome them together.

I’m not forcing anyone to stay here against their will. I invite everyone who wants to join us on this exciting adventure and take this journey together.

Your thinking is very similar to that of a successful entrepreneur. You view our game primarily as a business product, evaluating our actions from an entrepreneurial perspective on how to make the product more profitable. And that's fantastic! Maybe I should learn from you :)

Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts 👍

I fully understand that if our game doesn't have frequent updates, if it has many bugs, and if new competitors emerge, it could lead to players leaving, running out of money to pay employees and servers, and ultimately the closure of the company. I am well aware of all this.

Therefore, our task is to work on the game and improve it as much as we can. We need to listen to our community's wishes and communicate on the forum, in Discord, and on other social media about future updates. This is exactly what we are doing.

I might not be doing everything as well as you would like, but I work on myself every day. And it’s nice to know that others notice this (yes, yes, I know you see the improvements in me ;))

Any activity can be improved and mastered, and there is no limit to perfection. I am very happy that I have the opportunity to do what I love and improve at it.

You mentioned that you are not very optimistic about the future of 3DXChat. I won't try to convince you otherwise. Let time be the judge. But know that we want to make the game better and are working on it every day.

I was talking about Xgold for other people's subscriptions for me, not extra game time for me. If I have earned additional game time, I cannot sell it for Xgold). And earning real money on subscriptions in order to use them to buy Xgold... unnecessary complications.
It was interesting to receive payment for someone else's subscription immediately in Xgold. Then the system suddenly changed, and all my hundreds and hundreds of referral links on my and other resources stopped working. All my work for a couple of years was in vain) and I closed the projects :)

I see this development with very, very mixed feelings.

Yes, it's great if you get accepted into the Steam circles and the game will gain popularity.

But Steam is not a charity, they want to make money, a lot of money. And that means they will make demands, both on the developers of 3dx and on us, the players (I almost said the residents).

I hope that one day we don't have to experience Valve demanding exclusive marketing rights and 3dxChat becoming a "SteamOnly" product.

I love the game and especially the people who play it as it is. I hope that Gizmo, Lisa and the others don't get eaten by the big sharks in the pond and can invest their valuable time in the further development of 3dx without shareholders deciding which poses they like best.

You have no idea how Steam publishing works please stop 💀

Wow, you're the first person to express interest in receiving XGold for inviting other players. Usually, everyone is more interested in game time since they feel there's "nowhere to spend the gold". Tell us, where do you spend so much gold? :)

so you know there's " nowhere to spend the gold"...will there be anything we can spend them in future? like official outfit stores that sell some unique outfits? Maybe that can help the game earn a little extra too

or you would love to see the xgolds rotten and useless? Some rewards for devs can always be a good pusher for new contents——as long as they're not some  subscribers only or cost a lot. After all we have to find a way to use the xgolds right? instead of snacks and image gifts?

btw, who you represent as we?

I'm not sure what you mean, because that's not completely my original post. But think about it, if we can find a way to waste the xgolds that we never use, why not?

It was just a silly thing. You asked MeiLing "btw, who you represent as we?" but you started your comment with "we do need this " so the question then becomes "who do you represent as we?" 🤪
