Artist`s Festival Idea (World Editor)

Hi 3dxchat citizens and artists!

 

It will be interesting to see how many people want to see it and how many WE artists want to participate in such festival.

 

Why?

To make an festival from 3dxchat artists for people who interested to see artworks and use those works in the future. 

To make a place wich will be opened every day by every participant. The place where people(especially those who are not registered on the forum) could see any works and upload it by the links from the forum.

To show works of various artists festival by festival and show that the world editor is not just a thing but also an important tool that can be used variously, that can keep an interest to be in 3dxchat.

 

How?

A simple place like a circle with an entrance at the center, with artist`s spots/places around this entrance. People can get to any work and then walk around one by one.

It could be a graffiti on a wall, a car, a bed, a statue, or whatever you have in your imagination(except something can break the rules of the game).

I can made a first wave of artists festival while I have few weeks on it. If someone wants to lead it, that's cool. If no, I am able to do it.

Create something, link to me by the forum pm. I will put it in the festival place.

Before starting festival we meet inside the place to fix anything. I will link final place to every participant.

While festival going, if you see that a place isn`t opened, just use the place and open by yourself(need to think how it will be named).

That is how we can lead the festival together and keep it opened all the time. Or most of time :3

 

 

Questions:

1.How many artworks(participants) would be nice to see accordingly with 3dxchat file limit?

2.What limit (Kb) for one participant?

3.How long should the festival take place? (a week, two, a month or any ideas)?

4.How many cubic meters should take a spot for any artwork?

5.What site should we use for links of works?

6. Any idea of a name of festival?

 

Feel free to discuss. Maybe the idea isn`t good. We will see.

... well you get my drift

 

as for links...to avoid confusion you can maybe have the items on display numbered.... someone(s) in the room (dressed in glowing pink ) will hold the links to the objects by numbers... that person can give the links to people who are interested in certain item based on their number.

 

or you can advertise a google drive link there, the downloads a word file that contains all the items by number and their links... then peeps can download that file and follow the link to the objects they desire.

 

or builder can stand next to their stuff, giving links to people... but standing around looking pretty personally is not something I would be into doing

20x20 is a huge space to feature a room, plane, boat, puppy and so on.

Themes would be great, getting together with free stuff web owners like Modz and Torax would help out a lot since they have plenty of builders posting items there..

Also since you got Dallas make sure you talk it out with him, he is an excellent builder, shy (yeah i called ya shy) but he has great ideas and in seeing how he would display a build could help make a prototype or base for other builders.

Thinking about themes. I pictured 1st festival freestyled. I just had a thought, what if all the participants will create a very beautiful..,but a sofa    *still thinking*

I understand that it will be low fps without limits. That's why I had a question about how many participants should be in. I heard that no more than 1 Mb is good. But I heard that 300-400 Kbs is perfect,but no more. I know that If I put any 50 KBs , but with hard reflective textures, it will be bad for not high gaming computers.

 

If the place will be like a circle with 8(20x20) spots for artists, will 100 Kb limit so good? Or 50 kb should be better.

Could a space be made within this EXHaron Expo  for us non techie, wanna be builders who are still a bit intimidated by WE… as well as all the wonderful tutorials found  in our forum halls. I’m more the “hands” on type    

Like a real time Building demonstration Booth hosted by one of the many talented designers n builders here. Answering questions, showing the basics n revealing tips.  Possible or dreamin?

The picture sizes are bigger in resolutions than the actual 3dx items. Those who saw the dragon know there was a lot of details on it, what the picture does not show is the dj booth/ spike crown and ramp.. the stage size however do include it..

So it does not have to be 500 kb.

This is an interesting visual idea for which another event can be created. Today is more simple to create an tutorial by youtube or any site where people can learn something real time. One click on the forum/youtube page to learn and asking questions or to create somehow such tutorial inside the game. Maybe someone who is interested in such a special event will someday create something like this.    Not me

Something like that with equal distance between spots for each artist/builder. Seems 20x20 is ok as well as a distance from the entrance to each spot.

1. Up to 8 participants.

2. Up to 80 KB for each file.

3. Festival will take a week.

4. 1 file (working place: 20x20 m³) per each participant.  /Maybe it would be better to extend the height limits.

5. Google Drive should be used for uploads.

When working out things to try make sure people don't need super computers to be able to attend, don't forget that lighting is one of the things you would likely need to restrict.

I see you have talked about limiting the amount of KBs people can use, but if you don't also limit the lighting you can still very easily run into problems, especially if someone uses lots of high reflectivity surfaces.

 

For example, you can have a huge room using lots of polygons and all surfaces high reflective, if you don't have a single light no one will have any problems.

No light means no calculating needed to put things up on your screen, all is black.

Put one light in there and calculations then need to be done for the massive amount of polygons so the correct colors can be shown for each pixel.

Put another light in there and those calculations more than double.

 

You may even have to look at the type of lights when setting limits as some are heavier than others.

Hi Twiggy. My name is ExHaran. Lights,reflections and effects like a fog, fire are always a problem. I will mention this in the recommendations(for participants who are not able to use forum as well).

In 2014, as I remember, we didn`t have World Editor tools, we didn`t have effects, reflective textures and lights was a first problem. Thank you for reminding.

Yes in 2014 they actually limitted the amount of lights we could have, I think it was 6.

I think it's a great idea you have and could also help other builders get ideas for their own worlds.

I mentioned the lights because I know some builders go nuts with them, and almost all seem to like to have some lighting effects in their builds.

If you have 6 people all doing that, then it could be a problem.

We can`t place a house in our pocket, but we are able to place a miniature of that.

I remember from 2016 and up and how people started breaking the norm. More and more rooms left the game field to have parties in (Space) outside the game field. There was even a platform below where the ocean graphics looked like stars. Then someone stuck a bed near the moon (once they put the night option), someone made it possible to walk on the island, then a room that did go up to the moon was featured. Along with ground breakers like a plane, Dragon Head and space station. World editor just made it possible for us to create more, I saw star fleet, rooms that looked like paradise, kitties in bikinis (not my doing, that was Sexi), and the horny werewolves. Can't wait to see what others make!!
