Vaughan_Rarius
Remembrance Day in UK. http://3dxforum.com/index.php?/topic/7870-remembrance-day/ Dedicated to our Military and the fallen servicemen. Thank you for your service. Thank you for all you have done, achieved and given. A Soldier’s Battlefield. The Crashing of shellsShrapnel and exploding earthWill I survive this? Helmet slips down toEyes, with splatterings of bloodLoud and scary times. Not my blood Thank GodBut the poor soul blown to bitsStanding next to me. A mush of flesh thereIs all that remains of him.God keep me safe prayers! A wounded comradeSeen in the red grass aheadI pull him to stand “Run and keep moving”I shout above the mad dinMore exploding clods He nods, turns and fallsA bullet lodged in his brainInstant death this time. In the deathly smogMore deadly enemy fireCutting down brave men. Choking as I breathe,Bad air and death everywhereEyes sting and mouth dry. Too much blood stains meMostly from others, not mineThe horrors of war. I see enemyA murderous soldier loomsIt is me or him. He lunges for meWith rifle and bayonetteI parry and slice He falls with dead eyesMy swipe firm and fatalA man in his prime. Exhausted and tiredAnother man meets his deathAs I fire and hit. The battle ragesAll around me dead soldiersThe war of countrys. Bullets whizzing roundScreams of fatal injuriesDodging and weaving Praying I surviveMy mind already war scarredNightmares now sown. Will I ever knowThe Peace we fight for so strongA bullet finds target… My legs seering pain.I fall to the ground, screamingBlackness and breathless. I see enemyThe murderous soldier loomsIt is me or him. His deathly eyes wideScreaming I fight for my lifeI am held down fast “It’s ok Soldier,”A feminine voice calms me“You are safe now here.” Hospital Care nowPhysical injuries healMental scars still hurt. War's cost is too highDialogue and compromiseIs the way forward.Ask the soldiers who know!
