Independent forum in French?

Hello.

The rule is to use english, and it is quite understandable for reasons of convenience and compliance (since this language is used by the greatest number).
However, there is a sizeable french community, from my little experience, some of which have alot of trouble with the english language.

So I was wondering if it was possible for one of us to create a french forum for this community?
The idea is not to make concurrency official forum, or cut by a community, but a means of communication around the game to improve meetings and mutual aid of those who do not speak english.

Good idea? Impossible?

Bonjour.

Impossible ?

The problem with that is that the forum admins/moderators cannot read french and hence cannot moderate it. The Russian Community, or German Community could ask for the same, and yet they have not.

They would have to hire a french speaker person just to moderate that small section of the forums.

While it would be nice to have independent forums for everybody and their mother tongue, it would fragment the forums into a massive set of small cliques. I think its a bad idea.

Please note: I am voicing my opinion on fragmenting the forums, I am in no way bashing any culture, language or person at all, and I am simply providing my opinion to a topic.

Sorry, just my opinion, and a good excuse to use my favorite picture :)

Even if i'm french and i understand your request Reveur, i'm 100% agree with Mikey.

I know french people are generally not good with other languages (why all people look at me ??   :D ) but you'll see with just little effort you can have lot of fun and improve your english !

if only all English lessons were like this !

Anyway, fun and love is an International language...  ;)

Oh noes......everyone would just go hiding in their own little niches. Wouldnt it be a shame if everyone was just active in their own little forum/clique? I think a lot of people here enjoy meeting people from other countries/cultures. Subforums would somehow seem like the ....opposite.

Aaaaand.....you would loose the opportunity to learn about anatomy in so many different languages  :P

Personally, I think that people should just use whatever language they feel most comfortable with in this forum.

The messages are saved as text, which means that using Google translate to get a rough idea of what is being said is a breeze.

And as far as I am concerned, the moderation issue is a red herring. The Devs have shown quite clearly that they have no intention of moderating anything anymore. And the community has shown that, by and large, it is capable of moderating itself simply by staying on topic and ignoring trolls. We have seen not so long ago that when things get badly off topic or there is troll-feeding frenzy, there are plenty of cooler heads here who step in and ask for restraint. That seems to me to be working fine. After all, it's a public forum where people are entitled to express their own opinion on any topic, old or new.

My vote is to not discuss this issue. Just post in whatever language you feel most comfortable in.

I don't know that I agree with splitting the forum, what Annika and Mikey say is, I think, the best reason for why we shouldn't...I've always hated cliques and this would only encourage that...but I have to say...the French people I've met here have got better command of English than a lot of English speaking people. Plus why not learn a little French too...even I'm trying lol.

Why not post and chat in whatever language you like. If people wanna know what you're saying they'll just have to learn...would that be so bad?

I understand very well your requests. I have never spoken English until the moment I walked into this community. Still today I have so many difficulties especially on idioms, aphorisms and slang. I try not to destroy me, I have many Italian friends, but I try to have other many other nationalities, trying to speak the international language. Thanks!!
