Curio users did uploaded licensed material to the game. Sold it (or not) through the Curio store to other players and the company behind Curio got trouble for this.

So how this is related to 3dx? These are two completely different things.

 

All a user can do in 3dx is up and download a JSON file with text content in which game assets (like that 2 dollar Chair) get coordinates. 

 

 

No. it is never gotten to that point. They have been working on the security needed for years.

Sorry but yes most game developers would expect things like props and animations to be still able to be used in 10 years, let alone 5.

Where do you think a good amount of the props in 3DXChat came from.

The Saloon for one was from there, so to all the musical instruments, and quite a lot of other props like lounges and things.

Lots of which have been in the game for over 5 years.

1st you say that Curio was in trouble for breaking licensing agreements then now you say they wouldn't be stupid enough to do so.

Read what it says in the link I showed you, see where it clearly says you can use assets sold in the assets store in a commercial game without having to pay any extra, as long as they are not marked as restricted.

Yes someone with the knowledge may be able to hack the game and get to make a copy of the purchased asset, but that is the way Unity works.

It is neither the responsibility of 3DXChat or Unity if someone does that, it goes against the terms of agreement in both and is the hacker breaking the rules.

 

Most game developers make a static game. In other words, they make a game and it what it is. It doesn't update constantly. 3DX is expected too..

 

VR worlds aren't static.

A similar issue with personal use of Unity Store assets being used and uploaded by a any user in Curio was brought up to the Unity Store legal team

Took awhile to find the Legal teams reply. I stand corrected.   The question was posed generally about use of the Unity Store. Unity's legal Dept. reply was that due to third party distribution (meaning from users to Utherverse in addition to the potential to other users) assets from the Unity Store could not be used without contacting the asset creator directly for permission. It was also suggested by legal to make sure documentation of the special permissions granted be kept granting distribution..

 

I stand corrected.

All the dances have stop/start positions where they can be made to have moves flow on from previous moves, meaning dance routines can be done.

For $60, likely $48 for SGD as I feel sure they would be PRO members of Unity, they can get a large collection of different types of dances.

All they need to do is make each separate move/loop selectable for the next move such as they do with the pole dances.

Then we would be able to create our own dance routines.

Are you sure Curio wasn't making items that users had uploaded available for sale, even for the game currency ?

I am not sure how Curio actually works, but I do know that they have user content and people make money through selling things in there.

Also if Curio themselves were selling items, even with game currency, that had been obtained through the Unity assets store, then they are breaking the license agreement.

 

But I will tell you again, and if you read the data in the link I have shown you will see this to be correct.

None restricted items purchased from the Unity assets store can be used in a commercial game.

When you submit an item for sale in the Unity store as non restricted you are agreeing to that, if you do not want it to be used commercially then you make it restricted, that is how the Unity assets store works.

 

Yes when Unity 5 came out there was a lot of games required some to a lot of recoding to have things work the way they use to in Unity 4.

That was coding though, and yes there are assets sold that are coding, and yes some of them needed to be either deleted from the assets store or updated to work in Unity 5.

But things like chairs, animations and such mostly did not need any attention, some may have needed lighting alterations and such, but basically changing to Unity 5 had little effect on props.

They withdrew certain aspects of coding capabilities in Unity 4 which made it that different types of coding would no longer work Unity 5.

 

As you can see by what is said in the link I provided you, the assets can also be used in other game engines, they are not restricted to Unity.

It is up to the asset provider to place restrictions on items they sell in the Unity assets store when they submit it to the store.

If they choose to make it non restricted then it is available to be used for commercial use.

Curio has been replaced by Oasis now. More or less the same, just re-vamped.

Yes, a tremendous amount of purging and reconstruction of the code was done. Who knows if it will ever become as was intentioned where basically a Unity Asset like store would exist in game similar to SL.

Even prop assets broke (chairs yes) in addition to whole scenes like beaches, Parks, a huge Rocky Vally, etc. Etc. Etc..

For their dances, poke dances, lap dances and sex they chose to go the MoCap route with sex being Mocap of porn actors having sex, which imo is a far smoother and more realistic animation. Something I wonder if 3DX ever considered doing.

After watching the total fiasco with 3rd party assets imported into Curio, it makes a lot of sense why 3DX is hesitant about adding outside assets.

It sure would be great if you could just buy assets without the concearns with future updates.

I wonder if the update coming is in the newest Unity build.

It would be fantastic if there were a list of all poses that could be added to a prop.

 

Make a prop limited to a certain pose. NP.  Assign the pose (or poses) that work and eliminate the guesswork for the user.

The price of an item does not matter, how you use it where you use it, that matters. Not so long ago we made floors out of tables, who knows the price of the tables, the rooms were priceless.

But eets a chair, and one we could make ourselves in WE and out of all tha things we could have why oh why are we getting a chair is mah question. Tha price is an after joke. Maybeh just maybeh this very chair will sell fo 3.2 million on Ebay one day but until then eets a 2 dolla chair that's just a chair, will neva be a floor or a club but just a chair with more legs than eets price tag :P

It's funny you mentioned making floors out of tables, guess who was the 1st to do that.

Also do you remember that they use to be able to overlap, where we could make dance floors with no holes from the tables because the collision points were set that way that we could overlap enough to do so.

That was before the dll hacks came out.

It may have been a coincidence, but trying to get Gizmo to give us something to make floors from I mentioned in this forum that people that came here from other games were laughing at us having to do that.

Then around 3 days later with the very next update he had changed the collision points so we could no longer overlap them, rooms we had where we had made those floors went all stuffed up and any floors we tried to make after that could only be done with holes.

That was until Rochies mod.

So we pushed like hell to get the something to replace it, something we could make dance floors from, Chilles showed some blocks and we all pushed like hell to get them and we did.

But you are right, it is not the price, it is more the items he is adding and the lack of attention to what is asked for and what trends show is needed.

If you are not in 3DXChat just for sex, or to be a DJ, or to be a builder, what is there ?

Sure you make friends, but not everyone finds that easy, lots don't, especially the ones that have communication problems through either lack of confidence or language barriers.

You go to parties, click once to dance and chat.

You go to the beach and sit and chat.

Everything is based on being able to chat with people, the fun comes from that mostly.

It didn't bother me as I can talk peoples heads off, but there are a lot that just cannot fit in because of it.

How many times have things like some sort of dice or mini games been asked for.

The dice is something very simple that could be added that would make a huge difference to what people could create to make fun for everyone.

The dance animations need to be more interactive, more dances where we dance together that aren't so personal as our couples dance may open doors for people to do things things together, where they don't have to be someone so close and personal.

One of the most successful updates, arguably the most successful, was the one where we got the 4 dances, I think 5,6.7 and 8. where not only were the dances much better than we had, they also let guys and girls be able to finally sinc dance together.

I am one of the people that pushed hardest for things to be done to be able to build decent rooms.

He gave us the world editor and it is great.

But now what is needed are things that allow for better interaction, the game relies far to heavily on chat.

Ah agree with Twiggy.

 

What peeps dont realize, or maybeh they do ah dunno is that all this social interaction between peeps thru varied activities hilps them to form some kind of connection. When they connect in a fun way eets a lot easier to interact.

 

Some consider this game like a brothel, with only one purpose and end game, sex. No need fo other activities eets "A Sex Game" or what they means is eets a Brothel and im here to engage in tha obvious, no need to form a connection, no need fo foreplay, no need fo anticipation. Eets like a transaction, im here, youre here, eets a sex game so lets play.

 

Others come at eet from a RL perspective. You go on a date, you laugh and chat you get to know each other a bit, you enjoy each others company with in an activity that only heightens tha expectation and excitement of wot might follow, eets undetermined maybeh unexpected but eets a bonus to tha fun you already are having.

 

This game would benefit from more activities, ah tinks tha drama here is caused on tha most part from boredom. 

 

Bored players eventually leave, bored players tell their frands or new players, eet gets boring and new players find out eet indeed does and tell their frands and other new players. Eets not exactly a recipe fo growth.

 

If ah was a Dev, which im not, but if ah was ah would be inventing new ways to capture peoples attentions. 

 

Like a perfume, 

 

Tha Top notes: Also called tha head notes. Tha scents that are perceived immediately on application of a perfume.  They form a persons initial impression of a perfume and thus are very important in tha selling of a perfume. Like tha Sex is in this Game.

 

Tha Middle notes: Also referred to as heart notes. Tha scent of a perfume that emerges just prior to tha dissipation of tha top note. Tha middle note compounds form the "heart" or main body of a perfume. Like tha Frandships made in tha game.

 

Tha Base notes: Tha scent of a perfume that appears close to the departure of tha middle notes. Tha base and middle notes together are tha main theme of a perfume. Base notes bring depth and solidity to a perfume. Activities and fun that everyting else is based upon in tha game.

 

Ah see eets this way fo 3DXChat...... ta smell sweet and last a long time eet needs different elements that support each other and keeps everyone smellin da roses :P
