Another Life

Sentra

Recommended Posts

I do play the Sims sometimes but it is single player.

I just want a game that is like 3dx, but not like a pornographic game. I still want the cuddling and stuff. I love the dancing and listening to music. I would love to see the dancing expanded on a lot. I would love to see something like Rabbit integrated into the game so I can just hang out or cuddle and watch a movie or something.

I like what 3dx has at its base as a foundation for a better game in the future. So yeah, I want to see a lot of updates and maybe a new team of developers working on it.

My idea of getting rid of the sex is so it could be released on Steam, where I think there are a ton of people who would enjoy something simple like this to hang out and have fun in. There aren't a lot of games out there that give you poses to hug and cuddle and kiss and dance and stuff. Not a lot of games that let you stream music and throw parties and dance and design and build the entire location of the dance party.

It's not that I don't like sex. I love sex. I just don't really care about the animations. I am fine with text and that can be done while I'm in whatever pose.

I guess the main idea would be to get it on Steam. See if people like it. Make a lot more money to where the developers have to finally decide to hire more people. None of us really know what their profit margin is, or whether they do this as their primary job or what. I would just love to see them hire more people, or perhaps make this their primary job if it isn't, and if they need more money to do that, this is maybe a way to make it happen.

Sansar does look nice, but it looks a little too ambitious and complex at the same time. Plus it is optimized for VR and clearly intended for VR. I probably won't buy a VR headset for like another 3-5 years I'm guessing.  I don't feel like everything needs to be VR. This would be much simpler and not for VR. I'm also not sure if or when Sansar might have dancing or cuddling and stuff. Those are two of the most important things to me about why I love 3dx.

I also looked into a game called Identity. It looks like it has a lot of nice things, but it also looks way too ambitious. That game has to be so far away from what they are promising right now, and it looks like it will be more focused on action and activities and stuff. They do have apartments and houses with internet radio and tv screens with internet videos which looks nice.

My idea here would be to release something simple on Steam that 3dx has mostly already made.

Idk, just brainstorming here, but maybe it goes even smaller. Maybe just release something on Steam called "My Room" or "Come Hang Out" or something and just give access to a room and the World Editor and the ability to invite friends from your Steam friends. You'd still have the character editor, internet radio and music streaming, dancing. No public locations needed. No public user rooms with offensive names either. No need for instancing or anything, just set a limit to the number of people who can be invited to the rooms. Modify the copy of 3dx to be only this and then sell it for like $15 on Steam. Idk maybe more.

Your ambition is to be commended; I'm not knocking that at all. Kudos for thinking outside the box.

May the 3dxChat gods hear you and trim this down to something more accessible to a younger audience like Steam players, but I imagine you can create something all your own with the kind of technology floating around.

I'm not killing the buzz, just helping it along in the right direction, I suppose. :P

Also, I don't think things like VRChat are really direct competitors or offer the same things that this does. Sansar might be more like it, but Idk much about it and it looks like a really expensive / greedy game with the way they sell individual items for hundreds of dollars on their website. Also VR is still somewhat limited in who has the hardware and it is all around too expensive for most still.

Well Sansar isn't VR only. Tho it does VR very very well, it is not the only way you can explore the world. if people even know how much better 3dx was in VR, i think more people would own an oculus. You are correct in that the entry point into VR is a bit high.. I think the minimum specs is a Geforce 960 or equiv.. and they recommend a 1060.. or something close. But VR is certainly the future and anyone who owns an oculus would surely agree. The hardware has come a very long way since it initially released.

Also.. i agree with you on the SL graphics but, SL also has tons more sex than 3dx. One piece of furniture has more cuddle and sex poses than all of 3dx.

I am not entirely convinced there is a large enough market among normal people for games like this, even without the porn. Games like Second Life were huge at first, then it rapidly fell off, partly thanks to bad decisions, like not separating the sex part quickly enough, big brands didn’t want to be associated with adult material.

From an outsider looking in, games like 3DX and SL do seem a bit “sad”. Here people are in virtual friendships, spending time building their virtual homes, in virtual marriages and relationships. I personally think it is great that I have made friends from all over the world and I also think it is great that I have been able to DJ. However, I do think games like 3DX and SL do have a bit of an image problem. You know, people probably think it is played mainly by middle aged people and socially awkward people who struggle with real life social interactions.

Judging by the success of The Sims though, I think there is probably hope if it is marketed right. Try to compare it to Sims, not something like Second Life, because I think the SL image is tarnished.

Plus SGD will have a tough time competing with the likes of EA.

The Sims is single player though! Plus it's just way different. There isn't any cuddling or dancing in it really. You don't have the same level of control.

Also, if they want to reach a wider audience or put something on Steam like I'm suggesting here, I don't think they should or could do it under the SGD name.

Jess, everything I've read about trying to play Sansar without VR sounds like it's.. not good. I'm sure I will get a VR headset someday soon, but not everything needs to be VR. There's a much bigger market for non VR still, and I'm not sure it will ever be ALL VR. VR sort of locks you into first person doesn't it?

Does Sansar have cuddle poses and dance animations? It has music streaming, right? I saw a video with a movie theater playing video.. How does that work? Is it like Rabb.it at all? I'm asking bc I'm genuinely curious and I can't find a lot of info. Maybe I will try it.

Also the developers of Second Life are creating a sequel to their game that is very amazing, I have seen the alpha preview for it and it looks pretty insane. The name of it kind of sounds like a Middle Eastern restaurant. Not sure I can advertise that game either ...

*sneezes*

Sansar!

*wipes my spittle off the monitor*

Really no point in 3dx stretching themselves thin with another game that mirrors this one that almost nobody will play, especially with more established options already out there, and even better ones coming. I suggest if those are the games you want to play, they already exist, go play them.

The only thing I want to say here is that I get where Sentra is coming form on this. I'm not a gamer and don't really know how these things are delivered to market. To my mind anything that opens 3dx Chat up to a wider user base, and one that stays can only be a good thing - both for users and Gimzo.

DaddysGirl is talking about Sansar I'm pretty sure, she just can't see my posts. I think anyway, as far as the sequel to Second Life.

I'll be interested to see the other thing "without limits" too, although I'm sure it will be another niche pornographic type thing. I'm not saying it won't be good, but I do think the audience will again be limited if that's the case.

More or less, the options are already out there, use all that time on your computer and go look for them. Another pointless forum topic ...

*flushes toilet*

The game I want does not exist yet. I have been looking a lot. 3dx is actually still the closest thing. There is also no proof that putting something like I suggested here on Steam would not be profitable.

The one thing about SL is that the user base created a lot of what is in the game same with IMVU it's just the bones so to speak that they build off of as with SL and IMVU they have to make a little money off of it and the user had a little more control with what they create as well but the downside is if the game owner makes a change to the bones they may have to update their product or have a broken product.
