Idea: Make some user rooms permanent or temporary permanent

I would like to request if we could hold votes every few months let's say every half year to make some rooms official and perhaps vote some rooms out of the official list as well.

Featured room lists that would be up 27/4 without the need to bump them or the owner being online.

 

As an example I would like to use Saloon, no one goes there it's useless, it's ugly, it's cheaply made. There's no reason why it should take so much space on the room list.

Second would be NC by now it's old and outdated there's no one ever there anymore yet together they are one of first things new people see. Even when no one uses them and take like 20% of location screen.

So my suggestion would be remove these 2 and add 2 votable slots that would last 3 to 6 months or rework the window to accommodate this feature and remove the dead rooms from the list. 

It would also prevent the abuse of power some people have over rooms that will ban you just because you stood in wrong place. Which can have devastating effects if its one of the more popular rooms.

 

The downside to this - it could create room drama, but then this is 3DX and there's so much drama that another drop wouldn't make the dam overflow anyways.

 

There are some amazing user creations already there's shire from LotR which looks terrific ( not open now so no screenshots ) or keely's hot baths with screenshots below, this room is way more detailed than NC / Saloon and there are many others like it.

I think thats a great idea and not just because my room is being highlighted.  I would have to remake the NC and send it to Tanya because though the regular room is dead...her room based on the NC still generates a ton of traffic.  I totally agree with the Saloon going away.  Always seemed like something just thrown out there.  Everything about it is bad.

Then maybe redesign the room tab into official rooms, featured rooms and user rooms. Could be tab system or something.

That way we could have the 6 or so official in one place, up to 10 featured in another and rest stay like this.

i agree this idea would be great the saloon and night club are useless as they are so we don't really need them. the beach i think should be one we can add too. and we have some really great user rooms out there that could be voted in to these slots for short time. hope something like this can be done one day.

I like that idea! No idea how much wwork it is, but if it's possible I would lov to see a new user room as default every month.

If user rooms should semi permanently be opened it should be based i think on user backup, like i suggested in one the suggestion threads. Similar to how we can donate 300 xgold to bump up room, maybe do similar in form of room donation icon to support keeping room open maybe for 1-2 hour per 300 Xgold.

 

I know some will say why should we pay to keep rooms open while host not around, personality i think because if we just get permanent options to keep rooms open. All will want to do it which will mean many rooms with many objects that may create lag for everyone possibly server instability like we experienced before, think if we should have option to keep user rooms open while not online. It should be some open that supported by those enjoying the room to make use of it by supporting keeping it open, so we only have user rooms open 24/7 that people actively use and willing to help holding open from closing.

 

EDIT: Guess my point is while there some amazing looking room like picture you linked, there also amazing rooms with massive amount of objects being used. Which if excessive amount those rooms open same time i would venture to guess will cause server instability and possibly crashes, I am almost 100% sure if we get option to all have user rooms open 24/7 without some mechanism that unsure only used rooms are being kept open. We probably will end getting instabilities and server problems like we often experience before with DLL rooms.

Honestly simple solution for this would be rule that room must be lag friendly.  It's not that hard to build without lag.
