3DXChat's Oculus VR works perfectly on the Vive *GUIDE INSIDE*

Recommended Posts

So I noticed a few people in the forums claiming that this game doesn't work in the Vive even if you use Revive. This is simply not true. The game runs absolutely perfectly in the Vive.

Here's an easy step by step guide on how to set this up to run in the Vive:

1. Make sure to install Oculus Home first and then Revive on your PC.

You can grab Oculus Home at: https://www3.oculus.com/en-us/setup/

2. Install 3DXChat, login, and setup your character if you haven't already done so. Make sure to also set the framerate to unlimited. Don't lock it at 60fps and make sure Vsync is disabled. Now exit 3DXChat.

3. Goto your Revive installation folder. Mine is at C:\Revive

4. Inside the Revive installation folder, open another folder called Revive. For me the path is C:\Revive\Revive

5. Copy everything (including folders) inside C:\Games\Revive\Revive (into your 3DXchat directory. For me that's C:\3DXChat

6. Create a shortcut with the following in the target field including quotes and references to both exes:.

"C:\3DXChat\ReviveInjector_x64.exe" "C:\3DXChat\3DXChat.exe"

The path should be whatever your 3DXChat path is. This is also where you copied the Revive injector.

7. Start Steam VR and make sure Asynchronous Reprojection is disabled. Interleaved Reprojection and Always On Reprojection should be enabled for best performance.

8. Start up 3DXChat with the shortcut created in step #6.

9. Log in with your character, goto settings, and under the "Game" tab check OculusVR and press apply.

10. Put on your Vive headset and you should now see 3DXChat in VR! Do note that this game does not work with Vive motion controls nor with the Oculus Touch. You can use an Xbox One controller or Mouse + KB just like monitor mode. I haven't tried the Xbox One controller yet, and have used a Mouse + KB so far and I am satisfied.

11. You can change your view to first person by going to the "Take a snapshot" menu. You can also optionally enable a flying camera here too if you prefer.

Hi,

So I got a Vive recently and followed your steps. It's been almost a year since this post I know but it was all I found so far and I had some questions. It didn't seem to work quite right and I thought maybe you were still around or someone else might know.

It does actually work like it will run the game on the Vive but there are some weird things that make it very hard to use. First the interface always goes at really weird angles and can end up anywhere on the screen. If the chat window is open it's big and right in the middle of the screen so I can't really see anything else when it is up. Sometimes the interface is up above me and sometimes I have to look almost down at the floor to see it. Also whenever I put the dot over anything that scrolls it always scrolls up to the very top and gets stuck there. So for example I can't really use the chat box at all because it scrolls all the way up to the first message and it won't let me ever scroll back down. It does the same thing with any menu that scrolls.

For using the mouse, for me I just get a dot at the center of the screen that I can point at stuff with, and then I can use the mouse button to click that dot. That's the only thing the mouse really does for me. Is that normal?

So dissapointing.  Makes me want to start my own virtual world company

Hi, I've been trying to get the game to run through Revive, I don't think most of the steps above are still useful as Revive now has an inject button.

Still, I tryed a bit of everything I could find, and in the end, the game simply doesn't start by injecting, it shows in Oculus home library, but not Revive dashboard.

Any idea?

well bugger me, i got it working in vr...added these lies to 3dxchat folder

Standalone games (alternative)

For games that don't launch or don't work when using Inject..., copy the following files from the Revive installation directory into the directory where the game's executable is:

xinput/x64/xinput_1_3.dll
LibRevive64.dll
openvr_api64.dll

didnt change anything else but its working now...run steam vr,revive and occulus then log in from steam library page...go to settings amd the occulus button should now be clickable.press apply and it shows up in the headset. cool.

Wow Krusty..

You got Valve Index running?    can you make it clearer to us dumbies how you did it?   maybe a step by step.   As the Admins can't be bothered.

FYI,   I've switched over to Virt-A-Mate for VR...    it's not as social sadly..  but..  the graphics are getting better, and it's fully VR supported.
