I used to do all my gaming on a IMAC with bootcamp and Windows XP back then.

It work as good as a native PC and I didn't mind the switching much.

Actually there is a wonderful program around called CrossOver which lets you run applications from other environments directly. IE windows applications on macintosh or windows applications on linux. This is not native but creating a seamless layer within the operating system. I have used CrossOver for many years. And given the state of simplicity, forgive me for saying this about the structure devs, it should allow CrossOver to run it perfectly fine. One thing to consider on the developer part, is if porting would require too much effort. Often times mapping calls within a wrapper can still allow decent portability. This is what I and others suggested to IMVU, before they agreed to do just that.  And in the case where CrossOver may not work, which I do not see why not in this case, the other suggestions above will work. CrossOver also allows for a trial just so you can test and see. http://www.codeweavers.com/

I think the most fun I had with it was running WoW on Linux (CrossOver for Linux) when I was just starting to get into MMO gaming.

Also if you have not heard/tried of virtualbox. It may also be of use. https://www.virtualbox.org/

Swapping to a new partition, BootCamp, etc are becoming things of the past .. seamless integration is in a few VM's now. And before anyone cringes or pauses. Not ALL VM's are created equal. And for these few they can run close to, if not the same speed as if they were being run native (yes some may disagree, but those who do are not not adept to the product they are using-truth). Was just doing some reading it also seems that virtualbox is capable of a seamless layer as well. The following link shows you how to set that up.

http://www.howtogeek.com/171145/use-virtualboxs-seamless-mode-or-vmwares-unity-mode-to-seamlessly-run-programs-from-a-virtual-machine/

A side bit on running a VM yes it is like running 2 operating systems you will need a decent computer to use it. Though with the right knowledge, tinkering, on the right platform a VM can run at the same or close to as the host operating system. This is one of the reasons I love CrossOver it takes away all that fuss and gives you a great product instead. Otherwise with all VM's theres at least a little fuss. If you feel a little fuss is too much then BootCamp it.

Here is a fairly basic tutorial optimizer for virtualbox: http://smallbusiness.chron.com/speed-up-virtualbox-69519.html

Also VMWare allows for seamless integration. Though just like Apple vs Windows. you have people doing the virtualbox vs VMWare. Though, forgive me this is my experience with virtualbox. It has worked amazingly well and not to mention FREE. I will not say one is better than the other, that can easily be done by the reader. And since both VM's tend to have similar benchmarks. You do the math. The funny part of some people "benchmarks" its measured by visual acuity, IE which screen do I see first. Which is a HORRIBLE way to ever benchmark a VM, if not laughable. Either benchmark it properly or just don't is what I'd say.

Here is a decent test, and for people who like numbers (yay pretty numbers .. okay Heather focus) : https://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=51473&p=235719

If you have a Mac OS and wanna use some Windows apps, I suggest you Parallels Desktop. I think it's the best soft to work with Windows programs side by side with Mac OS apps.

I use it every day and I never had any problems... The only downside is that a lot of RAM is need!

Bootcamp comes with all Macs from the last few years, is free and is completely easy to set up and functions 100% as long as you don't want perpetual OSs running at the same time and don't mind short reboot cycles. I use Bootcamp on my RMBP with no issues at all and 3DX runs 100%.

I just installed the new PlayOnMac version and now the 3DXC screen flashes all the time. Sometimes even comes up grey.  I cant find the previous version of POM and am still searching to revert to older version.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

:(  I'm sorry I have no idea how mac systems work but maybe a fresh reinstall of 3DX will fix the issue ?

If that doesn't fix it, I just looked up on google for an older version and this is the only link I could find for an older version.

It's dated from April 14th 2014, and it's not from the official website so I don't know how legit it is :

You can play PERFECTLY 3dxchat on mac with parallels desktop, last version.

BUT YOU MUST USE WINDOWS 64BIT VERSION!!!

using WINDOWS 7 32bit i had screen flickering problems!

Now i play with win 7 64bit virtual machine, 3gb ram, 2 Cores AND 512 MB video RAM... All perfect!
