When does a name on your list become a liability?

You meet someone you have a bit of a spark, but you live in different time zones. 

You always seem to just miss one another, starting a scene with someone else just moments before they log on.

How many times can you legitimately say this is bad timing before that contact becomes a missed opportunity or even a screw you?

I know this feeling all to well. There is one particular lady on my friends list who thinks I'm a total asshole, I'm sure. We met and had fun when I was very new, and she doesn't log in often, but every time I've seen her after the initial tryst, I've been either in the middle of something or literally just started with someone else... I keep hoping to see her every time I log in, but she's about a once-a-week player, so it's a difficult one.

 

I can tell you from experience that telling them it's bad timing won't score you any brownie points, and everyone has a breaking point, but the best thing to do is be honest. 

 

Have you tried scheduling something with them? perhaps open a line of communication here on the forums (provided you know them here as well), where a PM will actually remain saved even when you go offline.

 

I would never drop someone from my friends list for missed opportunities. I would actually never drop someone from my friends list unless they did something to deserve it. a missed opportunity (even a pattern of them) is not an infraction in my book, and is not worthy of expulsion, but not everyone thinks this way.

I know, and I agree. Me personally, I have learned to ask now. If they are in the US I may not be as forward as I otherwise might would have been. But I have some great lovers from the land of enchantment, oh yes, lovers and great friends. I wouldn't want to lose them for anything in the world.

I'm very new here myself(this is my first post actually) but have already met some really awesome people and to solve the situation you describe i simply don't sleep anymore.  I doubt i can do that forever going forward but will always stays on long enough to at least see the ones i consider very good friends for awhile unless i know they will not be on or i won't be for RL reasons.

If you're lucky you'll find someone close by...and for the once a weekers...someone who accepts that you can't...or don't want to live in 3dx 24/7 but that doesn't have to devalue your relationship.

 

Depends on what your relationship is I guess...friends will always make time for you...and if they don't then eventually they aren't friends right? If it's more than that there's always people I think who can't go ten minutes in game without pursuing some other conquest. You either have to accept that or look for someone less um...hormone driven? (I think that's the polite way of putting it lol)

 

Sometimes the time difference makes it impossible though I agree and totally I get how it might put peeps off...lost my train of thought now lol...

Story of my life. Sometimes, it's literally just talking (I swear!), but in either case I try to give my undivided attention as much as possible. I'm awful at multitasking so someone usually gets left out and it leaves me feeling awkward and terrible. It happened to me last night and so now tonight I'll need to pass out a couple of apologies when I'm able to get on. : P

Timezone has always been an issue for me in any online game. I've met a lot of NA and EU folks and I have to stay very late just to hang out with them since I'm in the East Asian timezone. Otherwise I will hardly ever see them at all.
