Why don't we get to color skin with the palette?

The title should speak for itself. Why has the new update allowed us to color everything that is possible to color except for the skin? Is there any technical reason behind this? Or any logical and sensible reason at all?

I don't mean to sound entitled but skin coloring is the feature that had me hyped the most about the color palette for months and I know for a fact it was the case for others besides myself. I think that this can make it obvious that we are incredibly frustrated and disappointed that it wasn't included.

Forgive my ranting in this question but like myself and others have said: we have green alien skin and blue smurf skin, why the friggin nine hells can't we have vampire pale skin too? Or the means to achieve it for that matter?

Not only that, skin coloring would allow for people to reproduce the various levels of tan that people can have, instead of having everyone walking around with the same preset colors all the time. So I will ask again, is there any valid reason for skin being left out of the color palette? Was it disturbing to the majority of players? Would it cause technical issues with the game client or server side? Is it yet to be implemented and I am ranting for no reason?

I don't know what what kind of response this thread will get but I'd like to dedicate the discussion to possible reasons skin was left out of the palette and fellow players opinions if the feature should or should not be added. Just remember to keep it civil people!

Take this with a grain of salt as I have limited knowledge but skin texture may be more complex than the color wheel for fabrics. I have used it in other games and it did not look good. So I am basing my opinion on that and I wanted to create skins for second life. Did little research, decided I had no time for it.

I was hoping for more skin customization but need it to look right. There was a lot of people wanting it right here right now. Which since it was almost a year, I get but maybe it comes later. I am oily enough but I'd hate to look ashy :D

I see your point. No idea. There are color wheels specific to flesh tones. I would like to color hats and things too. I am not sure why it was only applied to most shoes and fabrics. Maybe if they add RGB to the palette that would make things much easier to implement for all choices.

I think on that question, the only one that could give an answers are the Dev Team.

I don't see a technical problem that could prevent it. There might be one but I don't see it.

It might be a design decision to limit skin color.

As much as we can argue here, I think the best action it to write to support.

We also used to have an email a address to write question to the Dev, but I don't know if it still relevant.

One thing is sure, only 3dxchat decision maker really know why.

It's best to just see what the next patch brings as I remember the Room interface update how the main patch updated the interface and added some extra materials and objects to use. But then the next patch not long after added extras onto the patch itself so maybe it will be the same case here, maybe the colouring of some other objects that were originally uncolourable might need to be recreated and edited to be coloured so they might bring it in a near future patch who knows! ^_^

It could be they don't want to have it so we can make our skins any color we want, and i can see why that may be.

I don't know if I would like seeing people running around with skin every color there is, not sure how that would go go down.

Maybe they could add something a little different for skin, like maybe certain colors with a slider to adjust it from light to dark in each color.

I think it would go down without a itch really.

Nothing prevent it technicly speaking.

It would open more choice for RPer. I mean we already got vampire, forest nymph and other oddities.

Do I like it or not ? I think what I like is irrelevant when it come to adding more option to players. The dev did added green and blue already.

I dont think that 3dxchat need to stick to realist content. But at the end it the Dev choice and not mine.

I don't think many people will go with too strange colors really. From experience in MMO's that have played with skin color customization, most people tend to go with more "real" skin tones, ofc, there is always the one who turns up with paper white skin or things like that. But they were exceptions, not the rule. I also think that since we now can mimic our hairstyles and eye colors then skin tone should follow suit too, it's only logical imo

I meant what I said as something that the devs may have been thinking, that maybe not everyone would like it.

Maybe they wouldn't like it themselves, who knows, but I will keep my thoughts to myself from now on as it seems everything I say in here now gets a bad reaction.

Yeah... That "illegal third party program" doesn't seem to work for it anymore either as far as I can tell.. or it'll have to work in a new way and that hasn't been found yet.  I know it's not supposed to be mentioned but that's they way people were doing it before to get that red skin you're talking about.

I'd like it if I could color skin with the pallette. Though the way the "ITPP" worked wasn't quite 100% RGB based like the current pallette is.  Paper white skin wasn't really possible though you could get somewhat pale... so maybe they have to figure out a slightly different color scale for the skin or maybe just don't want to deal with it.  I remember Soul Calibur having an entirely different color scale for skin as opposed to the rest of the equipment... They just didn't want people coloring equipment to a skin tone where it looked like players were nude babie doll style, but it's pretty much the same idea here... Skin tone is just a bit of a different texture than clothing to color.
