How to fix the Tutorial non-progression bugs at virtual partner and others (Screenshots)

Hello 3DXChat Community! MrAsh here! *Waves*

So, whilst we are waiting on the SexGameDevil Development team to add the rest of the GUI and rework the games mechanics to work with the new GUI layout many of you are facing a bug in the tutorial which is stopping progression of it. Especially at the "Virtual Partner" section of the tutorial so I will run you through a fix that has been proven to work in other threads but with screenshots to help follow the points more concisely.

So this will require editing registry entries for the game in your systems registry which I will run you all through now... (All screenshots will be on a Windows 7 OS sorry Windows 8 players I will try my best to explain it though as it's the exact same method on Windows 8 as it is 7, also the same for XP users.)

1. You will need to find a way to access your Run Command window. To do so is as follows....

  • You can  access the Run command by pressing the Windows logo key 0d8a4985-b5e2-41a6-a1b6-e4bafb517937_92.+R.

2. In the run windows text box you will need to type in "regedit"

This will bring up the registry editor now this is where you will need to be careful not to edit incorrect values as it could mess up many different things in your system.

3. You will need to go into the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/SexGameDevil/" directory. As shown below.

Now these are all your SexGameDevil values for 3DXChat. Now the one you need to edit is the following..... "tutorial-live_h4262489650" which is near the very bottom you may need to extend the "Name" tab to see it....

Now double click this and change the value from 0 to 1. Reboot your game and it should be fixed for you and you can then begin editing your personal room.

Good Luck and I hope this helps! ^_^

P.S. Important information...

If it is the other parts of the tutorial you are struggling to get through due to bugs, please edit the other values above the "tutorial-live" registry entry. The two I have highlighted below to "1" from "0".

Ash,

Sometimes there are problems with other game Tutorials. For example, in room editor Tutorial.

tutorial-home_h4262626571

=0 - Tutorial ON,

=1 - Tutorial Off

...

It makes sense to add it to your article.

Yep I just added it at the bottom! Cheers Vladok!

Registry Editor is a very interesting tool :)

Regedit is a very interesting tool, but it also a dangerous one if you are not careful.

You need to follow the instruction to the letter.

The registry is a key component of Windows and a damage registry can cause all kind of trouble.

Great tutorial Ash

and yes... -.- the registry do hold the game email and password in clear... This, I am sure could be impoved at one point.

Thanks for taking the time to post this.

A couple of things...

With both Win 7 and 8, you can invoke regedit by hitting the Win key and typing in regedit and hitting enter.

The process doesn't necessarily look the same but the mechanics are effectively the same (with 7 you are typing in the "search programs and files" field directly and with 8 the action of typing the word regedit automatically brings up the search field and accepts what you type. Hitting enter, in both cases, invokes it).

The other thing is that I notice you have only three tutorial settings in your registry. On my laptop I have the same but, on my desktop system, I have a fourth... tutorial-chat. Anyway, I set them all to 1.

Oh really!? Thanks for letting us know! So if people have issues with that, they will now know what to do! Thanks Cordelia, for the input, much appreciated!

Or you can eliminate the hassle of the horrible Windows 8 start screen by spending 5 Dollars on Start8 and having a real mouse friendly start menu again :)

RIP the real start menu. August 24th 1995 to October 26th 2012. You will be remembered.

Great post Ash. I do this all the time when I need to reinstall. Would be amazing if they could let the game check your online profile for this flag instead of keeping it registry resident.

Many thanks for this, great help. I do, however, have another problem to add onto the list: when I create a character, most things work out fine, but I can't edit their profile: I only get an empty text box with the char's name as header. Any ideas/help?

Yeah a lot of people have been reporting this today, I will speak with the Developers and see if it is a SQL error. :)

  • 3 weeks later...

Heden, the tutorial is the annoying (for me) little pop-ups that appear when you log in to your room, change your appearance and/or move your furniture around.

Ho ok... I'm happy to not had any bug about that. :)
